How do they lose their tail? I have an adult at work who's tail is gone. They came that way. The babies all have their tails.

From what I've heard, rather easily! For some, all it takes is a good scare. Or getting stressed. And they drop it !! Others had unfortunate accidents with cage doors. Or cats chasing them.
I have read an article once that said that most (if not all) adults that were observed in the wild didn't have a tail..
When those tails do come off, they writhe around wildly for a few minutes. The wound heals fairly quickly, but unlike most other geckos, the tail won't regrow. They will just have a tiny stub..

So cute !!!
He sure loves his flower, doesn't he ? Smeagol also has a favorite plant and spot. He is there every morning and most of the day
He spends most of his time up in the greenery, but I have also seen him check out his mossy coconut lately ! He used to never get on the ground, but since I put the leaf litter on there, he investigates and jumps around in them. I don't think he liked to walk on the coco coir and he also wasn't a fan of the paper towels but the leaves seem to be fun
I guess they like what they like, huh ? Better never get rid of that flower, haha, its his "blankey"
