Is a snake trap is humane to catch a lose ball python

Hi, My 3 year ball python recently ecscaped and I live in a large home so it literally can be any where even in the walls. So traditional methods did little to help and has been missing for over a week, and I fear for my baby. So I am asking if a humane snake trap that uses sticky pads, is ok to use to catch my snake. The main reason I want to due this is because it's getting colder and I do not want anything causing him harm or sickness. So can I use a humane snake trap to find my snake. Please help. Also the snake will come off the sticky pad when oil is applied

Snakes traps with sticky pads are not humane at all. They are meant to catch and kill a snake not contain it.

Stickiness aside, how does this trap attract/lure the snake? That's the key you need.

Do not use anything sticky at all, thats just asking for bad results, ie death of your snake. Need to check every little spot you can think of, any thing that lets off heat, including appliances. Near his enclosure as well.

from my research on run-away snakes (that are found), i find they're never more than 10 feet from their home and rarely get too far. stay close to the enclosure, and look in places you'd think they cannot possibly be. you gotta think outside the box a bit to find where a snake might go.

I have let them out and watched them just to see what they do. They like dark, warm, tight places. Usually close to the ground.

It may sound ridiculous but YEARS ago I heard of someone being successful with the following method:

They spread flour all over their kitchen floor in a light coating and placed a live feeder rat in a Rubbermaid bin in the center of the room with numerous holes all over the bin....and sure enough the BP was circling the bin in the morning figuring out how to get at the rat.

The flour leaves any trails he created obviously if he checked out the bin and decided to head out of the area.


It may or may not work, but I can't think of anything as a method besides checking warm areas. DO NOT USE A STICKY TRAP.

Check every wall line. Every cupboard. Under all furniture. All laundry hampers. Any small object it may be using for a hide. All crawl spaces. Hopefully your heat vents weren't open.

Clyde escaped once i found him under the futon in my basement hiding under a t-shirt.

That sounds absolutely ingenious. The solutions some people come up with. I think Clyde escaped in order to hunt down the last mouse I couldn't catch.

I recently got my escaped LTR back after a few weeks on the run ...

A plastic tank on its side with the door open ... then a heat mat under the tank and a bowl of water .. it took two weeks of waiting but it was there asleep one morning ..
