I did a small presentation on snakes today for my son and daughters 3rd grade class and my youngest sons K-4 class. It went rather well and I was surprised at how many kids in that small group had snakes at home. The best part IMO was when I asked all the kids who was afraid of snakes and alot of kids raised their hands. Then I asked those who had raised their hands for being scared how they knew they were afraid and they all seemed to slowly put their hands down and think about it. Hmmm maybe some pre determined phobia's? It was really cool I took the snake eggs I had hatching and the babies that just hatched out. I had a great time and the kids and especially the teachers seemed very interested. My oldest sons teacher came up to me after and said she has a new appreciation for snakes and that she can see how ppl love them! That made me feel great and who knows, maybe I turned a few kids into future herpers!
