Which Butter!?! CANNOT decide!

Alright... I need help on this. I've been going back and forth for days now.

Both are 09 female butters but I'm not going to say who the breeders are so that no one's decision is swayed...

I like the symmetrical reduced pattern on the first, but I love the colors on the second...

I CANNOT decide.... so what's everyone think?

I vote first one hands down. I like the reduced pattern.

The reduced pattern is nice, but the second ones coloration is a showstopper

Everything I've ever seen seems to show that orange shades with fade to a brownish color and light yellows seem to hold their color fairly well.

So correct me if I'm wrong, but won't the first snake's color brown out more with age, and while the second snake's colors will fade, the yellow will still be prevalent?

Also, I've read many people saying that Lessers tend to brown/green out with age but Butters tend to actually lighten up with age... What are your thoughts on how that will affect each snakes different color shades?

Two different breeders? If so...two different cameras, two different lighting situations...it's really, really hard to judge true color based on internet pictures, unless the two animals were side-by-side in the same photo.

Personally, I'd snap up the reduced pattern one in a heartbeat. Not only is her pattern really pretty, but her blushing is insane as well. She's gorgeous. #2 is nice and the colors SEEM very pretty...but she still looks more "common" to me. Just my personal opinion, of course. ;)

Alright so I'll tell...

The first is from Matt Watkins... I've never heard of him before but has many snakes on Kingsnake...

The second is from Brad Boa and Brad says this girl is smokin' hot...

Lessers are pretty funny with cameras. They look sooo different under different lights. Sunlight really brings out their yellows, yet normal room lighting can make them look pretty brown. I'm assuming the same is true for butters, too, but I've never seen the same butter under different lights. Even so, the second one probably has better color, but I can't get past those alien heads. I can stand a couple holes on lessers/butters, but it's too much on the second one for ME. If that doesn't bother you and you just want color, go with the second one :).

Here is a female I kept back from 08 she is from the same mom. bottom line get the one that best fits in your projects.

hard to decide when the camera and pic quality is different if they were both the same price based upon pictures and it was my money i would go for the first one.....hope this helps!

It's the first one for me. I like how the reduced pattern would combine with other morphs I'd be breeding her with.

I like the first one, I voted for the second by accident.

Second girl for me! Lighter Butters will translate to more color in most combos -- just my experience. :)

Wow, they are ALL beautiful - I soooooo want a lesser!! :oops: I love the head stripe on #2, but I voted for #1 because of the blushing/flames... just a personal preference, as both are quite beautiful.

I can see why you are having trouble deciding--They are both HOT!

At least, no matter what you decide, it won't be a bad decision. I voted for the second one because that color is amazing, but either one would be a great addition.

What projects do you have planned for her?

It really does depend on the project. Also, as someone mentioned, two different cameras, different lighting. The first one may end up the same color as the second. I like them both but I would personally choose the second. Can't go wrong with either though!

Wow hard choice as they both are beautiful! I like the blushing on the first one but the flames on the second are awesome! Good luck with that choice!!

Yep, I think it is probably more of a lighting thing than anything else. I bet the colors are not actually much different between the two if you saw them in person. With butters/lessers the colors change so much as they age anyways I would definitely go with whichever one you liked the pattern on better.

They are both awesome, but these comments make me think the decision is already made. When speaking of the reduced pattern, you say "like" her pattern (and I personally love reduced patterns), but when speaking of the second one you say "love" her color (and I love the color of the lessers). Good luck in making this decision.

I prefer reduced-pattern morphs, but I wouldn't be able to pass up the amazing color of the second one, so I voted #2! Yeah, the color difference may be due to different cameras and/or lighting conditions, but...maybe not! The colors will change as they age, yes, but if it starts more colorful, then hopefully, it'll end more colorful.

Sooooo, which one was chosen and what does it look like now?

The second butter was chosen. I just couldn't pass up on her. Many thanks to Brad again! She's around 350g now and is by far my best eater. She's also the only snake to ever bite me too! :rofl:
