What Do Your BPs Do At Night?
They're nocturnal and so are active at night. From what I've seen before going to bed, mine is a gymnast: Climbs the side of the tank vertically upward to the screen, as well as drapes itself over the AcuRite, temp/humidity dials, and the the tree hide. Most of the time, it's in that "L" shape climbing the sides. The next morning, it's back in its hide.
Do your BPs do the same thing? (What else do they have to do?)

Re: What Do Your BPs Do At Night?
mine do nothing. I guess they are just lazy.
Unless its feeding day, then they are all over the place....or staring at me..
-
Re: What Do Your BPs Do At Night?
If mine has recently eaten then they will stay in the hides, but if not then they are cruising up a storm... they particularily seem to like to get to the highest spot they can while it is dark,, and then by the time the sun comes up they are back in their hides...

Re: What Do Your BPs Do At Night?
My girl sleeps. Unless it's close to feeding day.
Sometimes she lays with her head outside her hide, watching and tracking movement.

Re: What Do Your BPs Do At Night?
Yes, ours is out of sight for 24-48 hours after eating.
A secondary question is what time do your BPs usually emerge for the night? During its first couple of weeks with us, ours wouldn't come out until way after midnight, and most nights I never saw it (and I'm a night owl). Now, in its 5th week with us, it's coming out earlier and earlier. First, before midnight, then around 10, and now these last few nights it's out between 7 and 8pm. I'm assuming (hopefully correctly) that means it's getting more and more comfy with its surroundings, and not that it's so miserable here that it's trying to escape.
What time do yours come out to play, and what do they do?
This picture of "the gymnast" was taken last night. (Does that look like a pink belly to anyone? It's faint, so we can't tell if that's the pre-shed pink, although it was definitely whiter a few days prior.)

Hey there, mrshawt, your avatar kinda looks like one of the BPOM entries. Is that your Wes? I love the snake's-eye-view of that entry!

Re: What Do Your BPs Do At Night?
Mine does that too, he will climb the side then wedge himself in the corner and stay there until he falls..lol. If he has eaten in th elast 2-3 days he will remain hidden, though.

Re: What Do Your BPs Do At Night?
My snake usually comes out at night and just lays all stretched out in his enclosure. He does roam the enclosure when it gets close to feeding time. He spends the majority of his time curled up in his hide.

Re: What Do Your BPs Do At Night?
My gal will come out and wrap around her water bowl sometimes, most of the time though she will climb this really big tree I have in her tank and bask under the light for a few minutes and them find new ways to climb the tree. She comes out around 7 and is back up around 7

That head looks like it could be big without anything to compare it to. Watch out, the news might grab that photo to use as a 20 ft. burmese python hunting for crocodiles/kids in Florida! :D

Re: What Do Your BPs Do At Night?
mine do the same thing yours do. venture to the top of the tank to look for a way out. haha they want it baaaad too (: also i see alot of climping up branches

Re: What Do Your BPs Do At Night?
This was taken last night. Patriot is completely wrapped around the Petco dial stuck near the top of the tank (that's the dark cover above). She uses the "furniture" like a gymnasium! Am hesitant now to ever move her to a tub as that would lose the height.

Re: What Do Your BPs Do At Night?
I hope you don't use that thermometer... :(
And guaranteed, if you switched her to tub, she wouldn't climb anymore. In general, is abnormal behavior for a bp since they are very terrestrial.

Oh, heavens no! (Well, unless you consider it used as part of the jungle gym, LOL!) Here's Patriot climbing the REAL thermometer. She must've missed that memo about not being a climber.

My bp did the same thing. Not anymore in the tub. Sleep, sleep, sleep. :)

Re: What Do Your BPs Do At Night?
They roam. 730-8pm heads (all 6) pop out of their hides like they just woke up and waiting for darkness. Then when its lights out they roam around. All my displays are a simulated environments so they're exploring up,around, under branches, logs etc. All lit up in red, it's like my whole wall comes to life. Pretty cool actually. By the time i wake up they're all back in they're hides. Same thing every night, unless their in shed obviously.

Re: What Do Your BPs Do At Night?
Up until about 3 days ago, there was nothing in her tank so if she was out, she would go straight back into her hide (Holy crap those people are still up! DON'T LOOK AT ME!). But now that there's crumbled up newspaper in there that she can "explore" around, she'll come out and play peek-a-boo once in a while, she'll try to find a way out and practically bend over backwards doing it. I heard the paper moving last night after I was already in bed. She tends to come out pretty late, 10-11. Back in the hide and asleep by the time I get up, before 8:00am.

Re: What Do Your BPs Do At Night?
Mine comes out of his hide around 2am on feeding day and cruises around until I give him food around noon on feeding day. My RTB however cruises a little durring the day but spends most of his time on his tree thing and the only thing he's ever used his hide for is a prop to see if he could get out of the tank off of it.

Re: What Do Your BPs Do At Night?
Haha it is midnight and I caught him doing this, secure cage though no worries :)

My little one redecorates . The fake plants I have attached to the side of the cage are constantly falling down, with my little fatty on top of them lol.

ROFL, I like how that's put! Is that what your avatar is of?

Re: What Do Your BPs Do At Night?
mine just cruise around in their tanks making all kinds of noise with their newspaper. i can hear they try to climb up the glass, then fall to the side making a big plop sound which sometimes scares me.
-
Re: What Do Your BPs Do At Night?
Mine stays in his hide within 48 hours from a feed but then only sticks his head out to see whats going on but never comes all the way out unless he is feeding.

Re: What Do Your BPs Do At Night?
Ugh he is getting more creative, I just heard him fall :/

Re: What Do Your BPs Do At Night?
My BP usually comes out around 9 p.m. and then goes back into his hide around 1 a.m. He spends his time either looking for a way out or just laying all stretched out. He roams at night when it gets close to feeding day too.

it seems like they spend less time trying to escape once there in tubs vs glass tanks

The pictures you posted here show exactly what my BP was doing until I covered the bottom of the tank with crumpled up newspapers. Have since discovered that our BP becomes frazzled when exposed (we didn't even have the sides of the tank covered before), but with all that protection provided by balls of newspaper, he's a calm, contented BP now.

Re: What Do Your BPs Do At Night?

He is usually out before I wake up in the morning, and is making his way back into one of his hides by the time that I get home from work...I alway open the blinds in the morning so that he has a good sense of day/night....I am a noob and this is my first bp...Am I doing something wrong? Everyone else's bps are cruising at night...

It is only a bad thing if the snake is cruising during the day. My snakes are rarely out during the day or at night. Just depends on the snake really. Some are night cruisers, some aren't.

He comes out around 7:00 or so and soaks himself in his water for a bit, then he wraps himself on his tree for a while, then he may warm himself on top of his rock hide under the heat lamp...he doesnt move around constantly, but I was just curious if I had anything to be worried about. Dont want anything happening to my boy!! ;)

Re: What Do Your BPs Do At Night?
I'm pretty sure mine just stare at me while I'm asleep and wonder why I roam all day... maybe I'm stressed. I think they also make plans on when the next "most inconvenient time" to poop and pee all over the place will be...

Re: What Do Your BPs Do At Night?
Mine cruise around the tubs, moving their hides and bowls and rearranging the newspaper.
-
Re: What Do Your BPs Do At Night?
mine will sit in his hide for long periods of time with about 6 inches of his head sticking out, its really funny to me for some reason. he usually roams around the cage nosing here and there. for the first month I had him he constantly was trying to find a way out. He might still be up to the same shenanigans, but I usually do not see him late at night.
-
Re: What Do Your BPs Do At Night?
Before I had them in tubs, mine would cruise all over their tanks, climbing on every available surface, rearranging the furniture, tipping over their water bowls--everything. And then one day, I found my lesser trying to defy gravity.

He's such a crazy guy. And yet, he is my nicest one. When I get him out, he prefers to either hang out around my neck or become the world's most beautiful hair tie. :D

Re: What Do Your BPs Do At Night?
IS my snake weird? Whenever i see him out he rarely goes to the top of his cage, he usaully has his face in the water bowl. The only time ive ever seen him out at night(which isnt often) is when hes taking a drink.
BUT if i take him out and play with him for a little bit then put him back in his cage he will circle the cage and look for ways out.
