Morphs at Petco???
While I was in petco today I looked through the reptile section to see what they had and I saw a pastel ball python price sign. I didn't get to see it yet because it was supposedly under the water dish and there were only 2 people working so 1 of the girls working asked if I could come back later. I was just wondering if anyone else has seen morphs at any of the big chain petshops.

nope, that would be a first...aside from the various corn snakes they get lol. oh, and the variety of leopard geckos and what not...pretty much the animals higher in quantity where accidental breeding can happen between 2 hets haha.

Re: Morphs at Petco???
I've heard of people seeing some at the big chains, but rarely go in any, so haven't seen it for myself. I've sold a male pastel to a smaller local pet store here I know the owners of, but only because I knew they'd take care of it, and only because I know they'd educate whoever bought it. I'd never sell to a big chain though. I know a few people who work at some, and I would never allow one of my snakes to end up at a place that refuses to attempt to feed live even though a snake is starving itself to death, and clearly unhealthy. That's animal abuse in my book.

I have seen Pastels at petco before, but have never seen a good example of one there.

Re: Morphs at Petco???
My friend bought his first ball python about a month ago. He purchased it from a local pet supermarket. The snake was sick when he bought it but both of us didn't know that. Later that week it died. Then about a two weeks ago we went to a local reptile shop/breeder and we both bought two baby ball python (for a real good price, two for 40) and now we both have two happy balls lol.

Re: Morphs at Petco???
I've heard of Petcos having pastels on rare occasions. As morphs become more common, big chains will begin to sell them. Heck corn morphs are so common now, it's pretty hard to NOT find a corn morph of some sort at petco.

Re: Morphs at Petco???
HA! Funny you mention that...When I did the impulse shopping on my BP, at Petco, He was trying to sell me a Pastel...I told him I didn't want a pastel, and in my head I was thinking I didnt want a Pastel, I just want a Ball Python...Didnt know they were the same snake at the time...
Once I see a Pied...in Petco...I'm taking it!
and when that happens...breeders will be talking about how they produced a translucent or neon snake...

The petco out here feeds FT if they will take it, if not they give them a live, the girl that runs the reptile section out here knows what she is doing and is very knowledgeable i used to work with her.

Re: Morphs at Petco???
Nope..,... but I was just in Petsmart today over here in Cali... and they had a "fancy ball python" for sale for $80.... I was nice enought to let the cashier know that they were Normals.... pretty normals, but normals the same!

Re: Morphs at Petco???
I just bought my normal at Petco for $29. It is a pretty normal and has a great disposition. Everyone in my family has handled it and had no trouble. It likes live mice, but that is more fun for me to watch anyway. I like to kill my own food too. It tastes better.:salute:
They feed live at this Petco as well if FT doesn't work.

Re: Morphs at Petco???
Both Petco and PetSmart have had pastels for a while now, I think PetSmart has had them for about 1 year.

Re: Morphs at Petco???
I've seen albino corns, and various morphs of other types at Petco. They can't sell Ball Pythons in San Francisco, so you don't see ANY around here - normal or otherwise.

Re: Morphs at Petco???
the petco by me had two pastels for sale. they were very pretty too. they were both balled up together and i wanted to see them and they took it out and didnt even kno there was two of them. only 115. i could have got 2 w out them knowing. lol

Re: Morphs at Petco???
and also the manager breeds balls. so they prob got them from him. but the price wasnt bad. but id rather help support a breeder than a major chain by buying one. cuz at least id kno that they took care of it. and they try to rip u off w a normal for 80.

Re: Morphs at Petco???
I've seen a pastel at a Petco once out here before, but it was in sad shape.
Of course this is also the same Petco where they insist that it is perfectly acceptable to try to feed their baby snakes crickets...

It's only illegal to sell them in the city... so I should have said, you won't see them here in San Francisco. ;) I grew up on the Peninsula, and occasionally saw BPs at the Petco - no morphs that I can remember, but I didn't know snakes at that time.

It wasn't a cinny then.
I have heard of pastels being sold at the chain stores but have not seen them for myself. I would rather buy from a reputable breeder and get some good history on the snake.
