first babys of the season hatched!!!!!!!!!!
so this is our first babys this year to hatch, and this clutch started off pretty ruff to say the least! it was a fire male and mojave male breed to a first year normal female, she laid 9 eggs, but unfortinatly 3 eggs were slugs, then one egg died off about two weeks into incubation, BUT then yesterday they hatched and it wasnt bad odds, 2.1 mojaves 1.0 fire and 1.0 normal,
first pic is a group shot off the whole clutch!!!!!!!!!

I agree, that is a pastel and not a fire.

Re: first babys of the season hatched!!!!!!!!!!
He looks like my lemon pastel when I first got it, he was about 1 month old. The orange color will fade into a lemon color and get a bit duller. But I guess all hatchlings get duller. He is a little more than 2 months now.
I hope for you that I am not right, But thats my expirience with my lemon pastel :)

Awesome clutch!! what happened with that super cinn clutch?

Re: first babys of the season hatched!!!!!!!!!!
Your Fire breeder male is nice indeed. :) I would suggest you hold back the "Fire" hatchling -- if you try and sell it as a Fire you might run into some marketing problems. :colbert: Wishing it is a Fire does not make so -- it IS a Pastel -- but what do I know????;):D
-
Re: first babys of the season hatched!!!!!!!!!!
That'd be a Pastel. Nice babies :)
-
Re: first babys of the season hatched!!!!!!!!!!
Is it possible that your mojave breeder male is a pastave?

Bil i respect your opinion greatly and im planing on keeping it anyway, and if it is a pastel which im open to the idea it definitly looks like one, how could this happen, the mojave is just a plain mojave aswell as the fire, and those are the only ones who breed her i promiss you that!!!

Re: first babys of the season hatched!!!!!!!!!!
does anyone have pastave hatchling pics!!
-
Re: first babys of the season hatched!!!!!!!!!!
I AM coming from a place of "helping" not "hating"! :) First, I would think that the girl could have retained some sperm if she has been bred before -- are you sure she is a virgin?
Second, the Mojave could be carrying a second gene(Pastel). Mark suggested he could be a Pastave? Some Pastaves can be visually subtle as adults. Either is possible. I would go with the female retention first. Has the Mojave bred any other girls this season? I would keep an eye out for Pastels in his clutches.
Good luck -- having a Pastave male is a nice problem to have. :gj:

First I have been in it since 96 with in break in 01-03, so I'm far from new. Secondly, I'm not the only one to say pastel. And I never asked to see pics of your breeder fire or it's history. If I am breeding fires and hatching fires I think I can tell a fire hatchling from a pastel. You want to be offended that is fine, but wasn't meant to offend you, but I'm also not going to sit by while you act like I don't know a pastel from a fire.
