I Have A Confession!
Okay so many of you know me and think most of the stuff I say is not the truth and yea some of it isn't. I will confess to my lies and very, very sorry I did this. Now I have not lied about everything infact more than half the stuff I say is the truth. So with the Morph thing with Balls I lied. Me having a Honeybee that's a lie but I will one be hopefully suceeding my goal to produce one. Being a breeder for 7 years that's a lie to. But I have for now 4 and a half years. Me not knowing how to upload pictures that is not a lie. I really, really do not know how to upload off my camera. People say I don't know anything about snake but ball pythons, that's not true. More than half my time spent on the computer in my spare time is all about different reptiles.
Anyways to get to the point, I promise I will never LIE to any of you again. I will keep my word. Now can I get some respect back??? I am a boy with a dream to be one of the world's best breeder and the last month or so I got way out of hand. All I ask for is forgiveness from everyone I let down.
Please Forgive Me!
Daniel
Ps: Please no hate comments. This took alot of guts to do and I do not want to feel anymore worse than I already do. :please:

Re: I Have A Confession!
Daniel,
Your apology is a step in the right direction, and if your intentions are sincere, it will go a long way towards earning the respect of your fellow members.
Kudos for stepping up to the plate and making the apology - it takes a big person to do so and is an important first step!

Don't be discouraged if people still question you for now. Respect has to be earned, and as I said - this was a positive first step. How you respond to the questions, will also be the measure of the man you are as well! :)
-
Re: I Have A Confession!
I agree, Daniel.
I hope that you can get past all of that and really become a valuable member of the site.
Just be yourself, and this is a huge step in the right direction for sure.

I know, I think what happend was people were popping out all this different sick combo's and I wanted some of the fame. But after what I did, I learned my lesson by knowing you may be able to fool people the first week or so and before you know it everyone know's you lied and a disaster has started.
All I know is I have learned my lesson and for the 100 time I WILL NEVER EVER DO THIS AGAIN!!!!

Re: I Have A Confession!
Daniel, it's hard being a teenager and being online it's easy sometimes for kids your age, and even for adults who should know better, to get caught up in a sort of online fantasy. I'm very glad you decided to be face up to it.
It may take some time for the members here to show you much trust or respect but that's quite normal. Sit back, read, learn, stop rushing for something that you think you want - enjoy what you do have. Learn about snakes. There's no shame in being new or learning or not owning what some folks have. I don't have most of those killer morphs and likely never will. I wish I owned them but that's how it is so I enjoy what I do have. Remember those morphs are just regular ball pythons with a fancy "paint job" is all. :)

Re: I Have A Confession!
i give you some rep for doin this it takes a real man to step up and do this! we are proud of you weather you have a honeybee or not its just good to have you around!

Re: I Have A Confession!
I had to go back and read who the heck you we're, but I see you changed your name, and "Ball Python Expert" brings back some memories... Well, we'll see how it goes then eh?
-
Re: I Have A Confession!
A good start, Daniel. A very good start.

Re: I Have A Confession!
That took a lot of balls (pun intended! hehe) to come post this. While I haven't done the same thing, I do understand how easily one could get carried away. A friend of mine in highschool lied very seriously about some extremely major things (like her health) and only in later years did I come to realize how badly she must have been hurting to feel the need to do that- that she felt only that would get her some of the attention and love she truly just NEEDED. I hope by now, many years later, she has realized that she was just fine as she was- we loved her for who she is. You don't have to have anything "fancy" to be liked here. We have members with one pet normal- their snake is just as special as the most amazing morph from the biggest breeder. Maybe more special- because someone loves it as a pet! So... keep learning, appreciate what you have, and while waiting sucks- we're all always waiting for that elusive thing we think and hope will make us happy- you'll get your dream snakes in good time. Two years ago, I didn't have a ball python... now I have 20 of them including two pieds. Wow! You just never know :)
-
Re: I Have A Confession!
BTW, I'd be happy to help you try to upload your photos. If you have a cell phone and can txt me photos, I can even put them online for you.

Re: I Have A Confession!
Danial, I'm a cynical guy. I'm that way because I've watched people do a lot of things.
IF you're sincere, you'll be fine.
IF this is a snowjob, and there is no way at this time to know whether it is or not since, by your own fault, you can't really be trusted, it will end badly for you.
What you do or choose not to do is entirely up to you. I hope you live up to your ...... assertions in this thread, BUT, if you don't.....well, it's not like you didn't know what was coming.
There are a lot of fine folks here that are totally willing to overlook transgressions such as yours, myself included, but I for one HATE being fooled a second time. It's just not pleasant and I'm all about being pleasant. Just ask anyone, they'll all tell you how much I go out of my way for pleasantries, but I digress far into left field here.
It's good you stepped up. Don't mess it up now by either being full of it and looking to get out of the mess you made or backsliding into your "old" ways.

Alright bro, we'll se how it goes from here on out. Everyone is allotted one mistake, especially in this community. But I agree with Wes, you toe that line again like before and I dont think it'll end very well for you, in a breeder/credibility sense.
That said, you wanna be the best breeder in the world? Like pOkemon, you gotta catch em all bro. :D Good luck, and for the first time since you decided to be real, Welcome to bp.net.

Re: I Have A Confession!
You remind me a lot of me when i first started here... Except i didnt lie about stuff... But i did get off to a bad start and have to apologize... I think your headed in the right direction by apologizing, but no you will not "Get" respect back. You don't "Get" respect. You "Earn" respect. So it may be a while for you to earn back some respect, but as long as you do the right things, people will show you more of it.

Now that's not right to say, I did something wrong and your trying to make it a joke. Now c'mon! And do you think everyone is praising me? I don't think so? They are forgiving me for my stupidness! it's people like you that get on my wrong side!~!~!
Daniel

Re: I Have A Confession!
Actually, it was more sarcasm towards the people who ARE praising you. Yes, you did something wrong. Yes, you finally did the right thing and owned up to it. That's part of life and part of growing up, along with controlling your temper. Doesn't mean you deserve a medal for it. Respect should be earned, not given. :gj:

Thank you for owning up to your mistake. That takes a lot of guts. Now, just sit back and learn all you can and maybe one day you will have all of the snakes that you dream of. I myself only have a mormal but I can tell you that I love him very much and that he brings me a lot of joy.

I don't know if it's really praising, so much as recognizing that he's a 15 year old kid, and it took a lot of guts to make a public apology, especially for a teen. I myself would like to encourage him so that he continues to grow here and hopefully one day become a valued member of the site. I hope that he won't let us down, and I believe with the right encouragement, that he has potential to grow.
I do not agree with how he responded to you, and that's just another area where he needs to grow, to learn how to take criticism without taking it personally.

Daniel, it's to be expected that you have your critics. It's part of "consequences" for your actions. You have to get a tougher skin and realize that this is a learning experience for you.
You want to be a successful breeder and business person one day. Your apology was the first step. How you respond, even when your feelings are hurt is another step in your growth.
Eat a little humble pie. It's quite healthy, actually! :gj:

Picking it up isn't enough, you actually have to eat it, metaphorically speaking.
I'll give you some truly well meant advice.
Don't post on this thread again for at least a week. In fact, don't make another post until tomorrow.
While you're not posting, think about what kind of person you want people to think of you as. Once you have an idea, plan out the steps to becoming that person. Then implement the steps necessary to achieve your goal.
20 minutes, an hour or two, not enough time. It may seem like it but it's not. Give this some thought, put it down, do something else, pick it up again and see if you still feel the same. Don't go singing to the world how you're going to do this and not do that, do it and let them notice without you telling them.
You can't rush it and when you start out as you did, it's even more difficult. You can't have a do over so just do a do better. Learning when to refrain from commenting is one of the things you need to learn.

Re: I Have A Confession!
Well Daniel
If you are truely repentant, we forgive you. Trust as others have said will come with time... there is one thing good that can come from this. The lesson you are learning about how to treat people and about honesty and integrity is being learned at the tender age of 15. I know people 50 who still need to learn what you are learning now.

I agree with what Chris is saying here. And, just to be clear, it has nothing to do with Simpson Balls, but with the people who react so positively to being treated poorly and then being apologized to. In fact, in this thread, for the most part, people aren't showering him with praise. The original post only has one "thanks", and most of the replies still seem guarded. But I've seen similar threads where the poster gets quite a few thanks, and who knows, maybe reps too, and the replies have a much more positive tone. Yet really good posts from people who never act so poorly don't get that much positive attention. That makes no sense to me. Personally, I'd rather react positively to being treated properly from the beginning.
I accept the apology. I do have my doubts as to whether or not the revised version is the real truth, and whether or not the promise to never tell a lie on this forum again will be kept, but I'll wait and see and hope that he really is sincere. So my feelings towards Simpson Balls have definitely moved a step in a positive direction, but it will take time and continued good behavior on his part before it really gets positive.
-
Re: I Have A Confession!
I thanked the post, because I think it was a mature thing to do to come on here and open himself up and apologize like that. I have a "live and learn" attitude, though, and I also know (as I posted in my response) that when people go to such lengths, there's a reason for it. Does that mean we all have to accept that and forgive it and like the person's actions? Of course not. We can all own our reaction. How do we know anyone here is completely honest? But, if we alienate someone like this poster, as I see it, we're losing a valuable chance to educate a potential or new member of our hobby. Trust is relative- would I sell him a snake- probably not right now. That type of trust is earned. Will I accept what he has to say at face value? Yes, just like I do every other post here. My praise is for his standing up and owning his actions. That act is admirable, and I am all for moving forward.
