Interesting '09 Yellow Belly
Well this is the first girl out of '09 Clutch #3
CH Yellow Belly Male (NARC) X CH Poss Yellow Belly Female (Ian G)
No Ivories out of 5 eggs but I am going to do this pairing again next year because of this girl and her sib that is still in the egg that looks alot like her.
There are 2 other YB in the clutch for a total of 4 but the other 2 do not look like this girl and her sib. I will get pics of the sib when it is out.
Let me know what you think

Re: Interesting '09 Yellow Belly
Those are very unusual. You have pic of mom? They almost look like paintballs or a paintball x yb cross.

Re: Interesting '09 Yellow Belly
That father is really nice. It looks like a more extreme version of his pattern with very pronounced, bright side flames. Do you have any other clutches incubating that he sired?
Very nice!

Daddy was bred to another female that did not take. Though he was in on 2 who's your daddy clutches 1 in the 'bator now and other to be laid any day now.

She doesn't look like a typical YB but my buddy Tom that I got her from has another CH female that looks almost identical to her prove het Ivory last year, so I said Possible YB and thus the pairing with my male.

Nope the ratio ended up as 1.4 and the lone male is one of the ones that didn't get daddy's pattern and belly...But he does have the nice orange flames.
Well this seems to be the year for females for me....LOL. That is all good in my book I was planing on keeping back females this year so I can grow them up and replace some of my normals.

Re: Interesting '09 Yellow Belly
Very cool Josh. I hatched one out of my Goblin line very similar to that this year. It's a male .........Wish it was a girl. Only had one in my clutch though. By the way did you try breeding your dinker from TC this year?
-
Re: Interesting '09 Yellow Belly
Wow!:O Those flames are amazing!:gj:

Re: Interesting '09 Yellow Belly
I think the mom is the key to these extreme orange flames. With most babies they loss their orange highlights as they mature. They are awesome none the least. The mom doesnt look like a yb to me. I have a few ybs and have looked at alot even have to clutches from ybs in the incubator, but i havent seen any that look like mom. Try the mom with another morph and see if you get the high orang sides. It will be interesting to see them grow. They even have matching lateral patterns. The mom looks like is carrying something.

Re: Interesting '09 Yellow Belly
Oh my goodness that is an amazing yb!!!! Looks like a mystery ball to me!!! Hopefully something new! :gj:

Re: Interesting '09 Yellow Belly
Damn Josh, looks like you hit on somethin golden!
I love that clay red creepin up the sides! EPIC!!
-
Re: Interesting '09 Yellow Belly
great red flames on those babies.........best of luck in the project
-
Re: Interesting '09 Yellow Belly
wow dude, now thats something different.. i like that alot.
got myself a pair of 07s, although the female is miles off of being able to breed.. might be looking at 2011 for her, but she has just started eating like mad again.

Nope, the dinkers are '08s though the male is up to 750g and the female is upto almost 700g. The father that Tom still has only fathered2 clutches this year i think, but they have not hatched yet. If any "Special" females hatch I am probably going to pick up a couple more to grow up incase something does prove out.

I was thinking the same thing. I do think the mother has contributed to the flames...I was looking them over last night and I have 1 that I am sure is not YB but does have the flames, just not as extreme as the YB sibs

Re: Interesting '09 Yellow Belly
That looks absolutely fantastic. No 'subtle' morph there.
Back when I bought my yellowbelly, I went for the cheapest price and ended up with one of the most average, nondescript looking yellow bellies you can imagine. I didn't really care, I figured that as long as it makes me an ivory, it really didn't matter what the yellow belly itself looked like. After seeing pics of your animal, I think I made the wrong choice. I think I would have been happier spending a little extra and getting a good looking animal like that one.

Beautiful babies there! Congrats!

Re: Interesting '09 Yellow Belly
I think what you have there is Selective Breeding taken to the extreme. Those girls are incredible looking. If you decide to part with one let me know. I would love to breed one to my Specter to see what the Super Stripes they produced would look like. http://www.albeysreptiles.com/images/thumbsup.gif

Re: Interesting '09 Yellow Belly
definately looks like there is more to it then just selective breeding. Almost looks like the painted yellowbelly aka het super paintball yellowbelly. Maybe the mother is a paintball

Re: Interesting '09 Yellow Belly
She looks like a Granite YB girl I hatched out last year. I'll see if I can't get updated pictures of her. She's a ringer too.
