Yyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!
well, as everyone knows my first two clutches went pretty bad with only getting 1 pastel out of 10 eggs, the rest normals. Well today is day 53 of the pastel and cinny x pastel clutch, and the odds gods made up for it!
5 eggs:
1 pewter
1 pastel
3 SUPER pastel
this is incredible, i was just hoping to get 1 super out the deal, lol!
pics by monday if they crawl out!

Re: Yyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!
I am glad that I know for sure that more than 1 male can fertilize a clutch. I have read that its possible, but now I have proof, thats going to make a change in my plans for next year certainly.
now if I can just leep my head out of the incubator for awhile, I can get some sleep! 16 hr shift last night, then this..its gonna be a LONG weekend, lol!

i really want to see the pics because theres no way you can get SUPERS out of a Pastel /Cinnamon breeding
the only thing you can get is
Pastels
Pewters
Cinnamons
Normals
its impossible to get SUPERS out of that breeding so hes not being straight with us ..
and if you dont beleive it then you can ask Pete Kahl

He said Pastel and Cinnamon X Pastel. Not just Pastel X Cinnamon. I had to read the OP a few times before I understood it myself. Those odds are something.

Re: Yyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!
well then that would mean he bred a Pewter to a Pastel . cause a cinnamon pastel x pastel clutch wouldnt produce supers
Pastel Cinny is just another name for a Cinnamon ..
cause by what he said he bred 3 snakes together
Pastel X Cinny X Pastel ???????????? dont make no sense

It means he bred a male pastel to a female pastel, and then bred that same female pastel to a male cinny. AKA a double sired clutch.
Congrats on the odds! I can't wait to see them!
-
Re: Yyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!
sorry but i dont see that happening .. the odds of a dbl sired clutch are 1 in a million . if that were the case you would hear all the big boys doing it ..
something just dont make sense with OP's post

Idk, this year people have been getting some crazy odds. One canadian breeder got 4 bumblebees and 2 normals from a Bumblebee to normal breeding. So its definitely possible.

Re: Yyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!
Wow, I love the hate!
I bred a MALE pastel and a MALE cinnamon to my FEMALE pastel. I will get a few pics up when they are out of the eggs. The pewter started crawling out, but tucked himself back in. I guess I hit 1 in a million odds here or whatever ( SERIOUSLY doubt they are that high) but I am very pleased with this clutch.
Big breeders do use this method, I have seen it in clutch records. for some reason TheVipersHouse seems to think I am lying here. Pics will be up when they come out. Thanks to the guys who want to see the pics, I will get them up as soon as possible.

Re: Yyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!
We've seen threads on here before of double sired clutches. I believe Tim Bailey's (muddoc) clutch for the contest last year actually had more than 2 sires.
I agree the odds of getting such a good result are extremely slim, but by definition, extremely slim odds means it does happen sometimes. And he certainly was "due" to have some good odds after his first 2 clutches!
I don't remember much about the OP other than the posts about these 3 clutches, so I don't have any particular reason to trust him. However, there is nothing I've noticed in his posts to make me not trust him either.
EDIT: Totally sorry for forgetting this part... Congrats on your clutch! Looking forward to pics.

theres no hate ,but i will call it out and say PICS . your talking slim to none odds and none being the favorite . its not hate , if its true then congrats . but seeing is believing
thats all ..

Re: Yyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!
A simple congrats would suffice. Look see, like this:
That's awesome. Congrats on your clutch, you deserved it after that 1/10 pastel bit!

Re: Yyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!

Re: Yyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!
sorry if I misinterpreted. I will be sure to get them up ASAP, I will even PM you a pic before they go up. I have bred both of those males to the 6 females that have laid for me this year, which is also why I think my first 2 clutches turned out so bad, they just got the bad end of the co-dom genes.
I really dont think the odds are that slim. I was constantly rotating the males with the females, so I was actually disapointed with my first 2 clutches, thought I would have gotten 1 of each at least. It paid off in this one for sure, i will take the supers over a clutch of pastels any day.

Im not sure if you look at many hatching records but double sired clutches happen alot more often than not when multiple males are paired with a female. How many clutches of eggs have you had where youve pair up more than one male to come up with your own saying of slim to none?

Do they all lock up more than a few times? Introduced can mean a bunch of things. How many to be exact?

Re: Yyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!
man congrats, i hope one day to post up a post like this.... pics asap please lol....
-
Re: Yyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!
i have been doing this for quite some time.. i do know what to do and how to do it .ty
but yes each male locked up with female on multiple occasions .
but the results were always the same , was either or , never both combined

It's been proven for years You can have multiple sires for one clutch!
This can also happen with humans, cats, dogs, etc...
A lot of "Big Boys" have multiples of the same male they breed to females and they also do this with recessive animals.
I bred Pastel and Black Pastel this year...5 eggs, 2 Pastels and 3 Black Pastels!

Re: Yyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!
Yep! Several different males can fertilize eggs in the same female. I've done it also!
-
Re: Yyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!
i havent even been doing it that long,,and even i know its possible, and fairly common
back to the topic,Congrats on the awesome clutch

Re: Yyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!
Congrats on great odds, I hope you have a GREAT breeding season :gj::gj:

Re: Yyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!
Seems like someone professes to know a lot about breeding but really does not. Multiple sired clutches happen pretty frequently, not just to the big boys (of course, the more clutches overall you do, the more likely it becomes). Ignore the haters Tim.

well for starters nobodys hating , so get it right ..
and i dont profess nothing , i know alot about breeding .ty
and a question
how many times have you dbl sired a female successfully?
my guess you tried but never had it happen ..
my statement says the odds of it actually happening successfully is slim to none , because it is . .

Apparently you don't. I have never bred multiple sires until this season so we'll see. Slim to none? There are quite a few people on this forum who it has happened for. I guess that doesn't make it slim to none. Just admit you are wrong and called out somebody because you didn't properly read what they said and then felt silly and had to cover it up.

Re: Yyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!
Wow I can't wait to see photos :) I have a clutch that the female (normal, poss het for albino) was intorduced to a pastel, mojave, albino. I would LOVE to get 2 mojaves, 2, pastels ad 4 albinos..... Here is a thread that I think you should go look at. In this clutch, I had three sires to the offspring. We are doing this again this year, and I am hoping to be able to attain a four sired clutch. As for the likelihood, I don't try to do this often, as I prefer to put one male with on female, but I have hatched a few other clutches that were double sired (from using one male to "jump start" the females, and finish out the season with a late starter).
p.s. Congrats Tim. I can't wait to see the pics. I am glad that you were finally rewarded after your first 2 clutches.
Hope that helps,
-

I've seen several clutches sired by 2 males. And I haven't seen millions ;)

Re: Yyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!
Congrats, Tim!!I was gonna do that this year, not i'm kinda kickin myself for not. Hope thta makes up for the crappy odds before. Sounds like it happens more frequently than some people might think.
