Beating the odds...
Tell us about your best clutches when you beat the odds(Example: You bred a lesser to a mojave and got 3 Lucies and one lesser out of 4 eggs).
How about your worst clutch ever(you bred a lesser to a mojave and get 4 normals out of 4 eggs).

Re: Beating the odds...
I had one clutch from a pastel to spider and out of seven eggs I ended up with four bumblebees, 2 males and 2 females, and three female pastels. I was pretty excited.

Did you buy a lottery ticket that day!!?

Re: Beating the odds...
It was a couple years ago when I produced that clutch, and it felt like I won the lotto.

...too sum it up. I bred a 'normal' to a 'pastel' and got 3 hypos out of 4 eggs. :P
I knew that they werent pastels, but the chances of what had happened, actuall occurring are like 1 out of 100. SO I was in denial and I was calling them Pastels even in my first post.
EDIT: ....oh ya....they were all females :)

I came close to that. Here's a five egg clutch from mojave x lesser:

Two days later I hatched a clutch from a normal female bred to three different co-dom males. The clutch started out with four eggs, one died during incubation and the three that hatched were all normals. I guess I used up all my luck on the leucistic clutch :D

Re: Beating the odds...
I bred a spider male to a Normal female last year...Got 11 eggs and only three normals. :D
To make things better all the normals were female and the spiders were 4.4

Re: Beating the odds...
Since I've had 0 clutches so far, I'll mention one of my favorites from what other people have had....
Marcus Jayne hatching out the world's first axanthic pied... without having any idea they had the axanthic gene in their collection at all.

Re: Beating the odds...
Last year from a mojave x normal I got 5 mojaves and one normal.
My best though was with cornsnakes and happened last year. I had a pair of lavenders 66% het stripe. Out of the clutch only two eggs went to term. Out of one of those eggs hatched a striped lavender and in the other was an opal (albino lavender). I didn't even know amel was floating around. So out of two eggs I proved two different hets. I think I calculated the odds of that happening to be around 1/500 with all the poss. hets playing out and the number of eggs that survived.

How about worst odds.........
I had a female het pied bred to a male pied, 9 eggs........1 low white pied.

Re: Beating the odds...
Pewter/Bumble Bee x Pastel hatched 1.2 Bees 1.0 Super Pastel 1.1 Normals...
... and a Sterling and a Killer Bee -- both males. :D They are both giving a go at breeding as of a week ago -- nothing yet -- they are young.;)

Re: Beating the odds...
I did a breeding loan with Tim Bailey and we ended up with 8 spiders and 3 normals out of 11 eggs.Of course it was a spider to a normal breeding :P
-
Re: Beating the odds...
I bred a mojave to a normal and got 5 mojaves and 1 normal. Even better, 4 of the mojaves were female.

I got 6 normals out of breeding to mojave, spider, and pastel males.
My mistake was moving in may..... never again!!!!
I'm hoping this year the odds catch up and I find something unexpected in my collection!!!

Re: Beating the odds...
Since my first BP clutch is still cooking, I'll mention my corn snake clutch
I bred a snow corn to an amel corn and got 2 snow corns, 1 reverse okeetee and 5 amels. Meaning the amel was het for anery in order to produce snows

Re: Beating the odds...
My first season I had 8 eggs, Pastel x Normal, 4 eggs died. I hatched 4 normals.
-
Re: Beating the odds...
Best for me was probably my Lesser x Lesser clutch. 6 eggs, 2 lucy's, 1 lesser and 3 normals. The normals bummed me out a little, but I won't complain about a clutch that has two lucy's.
My other good clutch last year was a pair of het caramels. 8 egg clutch and I got 3 caramels. I have not had any unbelievably good clutches yet, but I am happy with just hitting the expected odds. Last season I had 12 eggs from Lesser to normals and wound up with ONE lesser. Would have been nice if it happened the other way around.

Re: Beating the odds...
I think the ball gods initiated me last year. Two pastel clutches. One with six eggs - 1.1 pastels, 2.2 normals. The other with four eggs - 2.2 normals.
I also had a possible het clown clutch, 3.1 possy hets. :(
Hoping for better odds this year - I've tried really, really hard to be good this year!

Re: Beating the odds...
Last year my high contrast albino male and het albino female breeding produced 6 eggs; 2.3 albinos and 1.0 het albino. I also had a butter female who was bred to a bee male and a lemon blast male produce 1.0 queen bee (spider, pastel, butter), 1.0 lemon blast, 0.1 pastel butter, 0.1 pastel and 1.0 butter.
I've also had to pay the ball pythons gods back for those great clutches. Bee X normal = 5 eggs; 1.0 pastel, 2.2 normals. Spider x normal = 7 eggs; 2 survived, 2.0 normals. :(
I hope everyone who is breeding this year has a great season!

Re: Beating the odds...
I had a 9 egg clutch last year that hatched out 6 pastels and 3 normal... the catch, the pastels were 5.1...
