    My Bp Escaped
Ok while I was at school, I guess my BP escape from his cage. I am really freaked out because I left my door open during school. His cage isn't near the door its on top of my dresser. Where should I look, do you think it went out of my room. I am really freaked! What should I do?!?!?! to find him!!!

    Look everywhere REALLY carefully.
Check every room, look behind/next to/on top of/under everything.

Do you think he could of gone out of my room during school? I have a heat lamp near the ground to try to attract him. Do you think he can sense it? Also do you think he could of gone far...?,

I doubt the heat lamp would work, but leave it on anyway.

Yes, he could've gone out of the room...

Do you have any cracks in your house that he could escape thru? If not, then you should start searching EVERYWHERE.

Look in the darkest, most cramped spaces first. Check inside and around your couches and beds, closets sheets. Your BP's first instinct is to find adequate shelter, and those are the spots that they prefer to hide in. If you have tile floors, sprinkle flour in the door ways so you will be able to see if your BP entered/left the room.

yes, if they can get a grip on any surface they will be able to climb.

    Re: My Bp Escaped
That's a good point with the flour. You can thaw a mouse (if you feed frozen) and cover the floor around it with flour and that might attract the snake... then you'll see where it went.

And yeah, just do the heat lamps too.

Like I said, check every single room, double check, triple check, quadruple check, whatever you gotta do.

I would be watching him, he just came in my room sniffing more than usual... What would happen if he did find it? It's a little mini dachshund in the hound group.

Oh and I am not looking for it now, because my mom is making me do my HW, and she doesn't know yet!

best tircks ive hurd of are as follows.... the flour thing, place plastic bags all round ur room- mostly around the floorboards they like to travel along walls - then sit in the dark and wait, but u gotta be absolutly still u should hear him rustling the bags then u can spot him with a flashlight... check in and around anything that gives off heat- TVs DVDplayers anything like that , if u try the mouse place it along a wall as well ... if u cant find him in ur room check everywhere else ... especialy under/behind the fridge, water heater, theres tons of stroys of snakes missing for like 6 months and majicaly poppin up outta nowhere - recently i seen on the news a 4foot BP was found in an appartment building - the tenants that owned him moved out like 4 months ago... scare the crap outta some old lady n her cat lol ... buut dont give up and never surrender!!

I had one of my Bp get out once and it made it from one end of the house to the other and down the stairs to the basement so anything can happen.

9 times out of 10 they are found in the most rediculous places just feet away from the cage. Before you do anything else I would litterally take the entire room apart.

Check in shoes, in your dresser and near anything that puts off heat (computer, radiators, etc...) As mentioned by SnM Man, under refridgerators are one of the spots where I have seen A LOT of bp's found.

Also, I would tell your mom. It will be a lot worse if she finds him by sticking her foot in a shoe that he is hiding in.

if you put a mouse out put it in something the snake would want to stay in like perhaps a hide with a touch of heat

The dresser doesn't have to be open for your bp to find a way in. He could have gone down to the floor, under the dresser, then up behind the drawers... Take everything out of every drawer, and look under it too... Check your closet too. The one time I had an escape, I found her 12 hours later curled up in a backpack in my closet...

no the flour goes across doorways or rooms - if the snake crawls thru it, ull know which way he went. u can try putting a mouse in a bag then ull hear the snake move into the bag. the trick with using plastic bags is sitting absolutly still in the dark so the snake will feel its safe to come out, another tip for using plastic bags is avoid air ducts, if the heat turns on the airflow will move the bag and ull think its ur snake.... how big is he ??

I really hope you find your lil friend. My 70g spider has already gotten out twice. The first time i had left the top open a little while changing her water and then the second time my 3 yo son had figured out how to climb up on the counter and open the top up. Then he came and told me he was playing with her so i went to look thinking he was just looking through the glass like he always does, but nope she had already escaped. I just put a towel on the floor over a heat pad, then put her favorite hide on the towel. It has worked both times. I just make sure it is out in the open so it is very visible to her.

Try leaving a thawed f/t rat or mouse in closed box in the middle of the room you think he got out in overnight. Make a single hole that he'll barely be able to fit in on top of the box.

How has your snake escaped twice? Exactly what is wrong with your enclosure that is allowing for your snake to escape?

Far enough. Make sure to keep the rooms door closed and keep the dog out of it.. if the dog does find it when your not there he will probably try to eat it.

Did you check everywhere in the enclosure? You may want to invest in a slide-on top cage or a tub instead of this cage that he seems to be getting out of so easily.

Ok, I am going to have a heat lamp clipped on to a tub, then thaw the mouse out put it there on a plastic baggy, with his hive. Close to my door, cuz my door was open during school when he escaped, should I turn lights off?

Do you think this will work?

    I hope it'll work.

Try it though. And yes, put plastic bags by the walls, put flour in several places, around the mouse too, try the heat lamp, and start the SEARCH!

About that heat lamp... get rid of it immediately. If the snake does search for heat, it will find it and wrap itself around the bulb and burn itself. It is a very dangerous idea and a fire hazard.

A box will be more enclosed and harder to get out of than a tub, as well as more secure. Use a UTH for heat, but NO HEAT LAMP.

Quite far. He should be able to smell it if the snake is in the same room as the mouse. Warm it up nicely.

then keep looking in other rooms, set up mice around the house then check them periodically. ur parents may not like having dead mice scattered around the house but if it were my parents they would much rather have dead mice around then a live snake.

dude keep looking EVERYWHERE!!!! i like the flour idea. my girl got out at my house and i found her in my bathroom 3 rooms down, in a closet, in the corner, under lot of blankets. she also got out at my dorm when she was only a few months old and wedged herself in my dresser drawers. so if you have the ones that slide out, be EXREMELY careful not to crush your snake if he/she is hiding there.
