Sneak peek at Olive's progeny. :)
Anyone that knows me knows that I have been beside myself waiting for this clutch to hatch.

Nothing spectacular, a double sired clutch, het orange and pastel, to a normal female.

But this female is my favorite snake in the world, and I have been going through HELL since October with worry over her, and then over her eggs.

But all is well at Chez Bruce and after a looooooong day at work I came home to see these two sweet face peeking back at me. :)

    Thanks for looking,
    Bruce

PS: I have NO idea what is up with the hyper extended neck *she* did that when I opened to tub to say bonjour and has been in that position ever since. Crazy Snake!

PPS: It looks like 4 normals, 4 pastels and one *not sure*

    Thanks all. :)

I couldn't be happier. Zolan and Olive have given me 5 pastels, and 4 normal P-het hypos.

I went with the small slits this time. Just enough to peek in and look. And most of the babes made their own holes anyway. One of the little pastels in on its third hole. Love seeing that little egg tooth.

I just expect them to open their mouths and lisp at me. :P

Once they are all out, I will pop about 8 Zan... and sleep for a week. I need it!

Thanks for the nice comments and thanks for looking, and yes, now that they've hatched I will FINALLY shut up about this clutch! At least I'll stop asking the following...

    1. Think she's buidling?
    2. Is this a glow?
    3. Is she ovulating?
    4. How long after the prelay shed again?
    5. Do I look fat in these jeans?

    I do have updates. :)

    Thanks for the comments.

I have been OD'ing on these babes. I have fought the urge to cut the eggs at all. Everyone is in and out of the eggs right now. I have split the five that have come out into smaller tupperware and placed them back in the incubator, dropped the temps a few degrees, and am waiting till they come out so that I can get the rack up and running (the thermo for the rack is running the incubator).

Here are the pastels while they were still in the eggs...

    http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...astelfaces.jpg

Then the first three to leave the eggs...

    Normal possible het hypo male.

    http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...male1olive.jpg

Normal possible het hypo female. I like her light colors, I think she'll be staying with us. :)

    http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...male1olive.jpg

    FINALLY got my girl! :banana::banana::banana:

Xena... pronounced K' sen ya... NOT Zena(!). I will not even say how long I have had that name picked out for.

    http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...bum/xena-1.jpg

Had two more leave the eggs, but no pics yet. A male normal possible het hypo and a pastel male as well.

I'll hang onto the first male pastel. That gives me one holdback pastel male from each of my females (Linda and Olive), and lets me get an idea of how they'll colour up.

    Thanks (again) for looking,
    Bruce

And I have to throw in a pic of dad as a babe... if you look you can see the trident on his neck... 3 of the 5 pastel babes have the same marking. :)

Aww Bruce they are adorable! Funny how odd little patterns can pass down. Your babies have their father's trident topped neck stripe, my possi het Albino's have their daddy's spot in the neck stripe thing (most of them anyways).

Re: Sneak peek at Olive's progeny. :)
I do think that anything with a snake is possibly genetic... much like people, whether it is a big deal or not... who knows.

Example... my friend Kathee, has "Mongolian Butt"... a birthmark on her rear, and her daughter has it as well. A sign of aboriginal genetics. Her daughter has blonde hair and blue eyes. :)

My siblings have a generation of offspring running around with long torsos, not noticeable except that you can always see their navels (regular T's do not accomodate the extra bit of abdomen).

I have hatched out alot of babes this season with small stripes on their tails... the same length on each snake. I thought this might help me identify the sire... but then I checked and both the het hypo and the pastel have it. :)

Yep I know how that is. My oldest daughter and I have the identical small birthmark on the identical spot on the same leg. Pretty odd really.
