Thankful...
I usually don't post my egg photos...that whole "don't count them" thing. But I was really excited to see these Sumatran short-tailed python eggs this morning. They're from a pair of nice chrome-headed adults, and this was the male's first year breeding.

Also, here are some "super quickie" pics of a pair of cool blood pythons I've been raising up. They both *just* shed, so I tried to get some fresh photos before they decided it was time to eat, too! ;) Normally they're both very well behaved!

LOL!!! The eggs with question marks have weaker veining than their surrounding counterparts. I tend to mark those so I have a lookout for any problem children during incubation, especially in a well-adhered clutch like this one. ;)
ROFL, though...that literally made me laugh out loud! :D

just out of curiosity ..........what if by chance there's an egg deep in the middle of the clutch that is going bad, what would be the best option to remove it without killing all the connecting eggs?

Still can't. OH so tempting, but I promised myself I'd wait. It just wouldn't be fair to the animal right now. I do hope you'll keep me updated on future clutches, though. ;)

A trick I learned from Tracy @ VPI - dental floss! You can use dental floss to very carefully, VERY gently "saw" eggs apart from each other. You want to go slow, pay careful attention to what you're doing so that you don't open any of the eggs in the process, and have someone help you that can hold the eggs to steady the clutch while you saw.

kara can this be done to BP eggs also say the day before you are going to clip the eggs. :D

Ed, I'd would not recommend sawing eggs apart just so they can be opened. It's not something you necessarily want to do - it should be saved for those "last resort" moments where you *must* remove an egg in order to preserve the rest of the clutch.
In the final days of incubation, eggs usually become quite pliable & can be separated easily by hand...if you absolutely have to get into a clutch early, I'd at least wait till that point to do so.

Re: Thankful...
Cool..
Just wondering I got one that is stuck on top of the whole group and was wondering how to get it off for when I cut
