News article: Carpet Python eats cat

Interesting article out of Australia.

A carpet python was found after it had eaten a kitten in a family's backyard. I know it's just a typical news story about snakes that plays on people's fears, but I was impressed once again at how the Australians treat their reptiles. Even though it had eaten this family's pet, they called someone to safely remove the snake. They even went out of their way to x-ray the snake instead of making it regurge in order to confirm if it had in fact eaten the kitten.

Thats interesting! The snake would have been killed here for sure.

Very interesting article. Not exactly warm fuzzies, but at least it wasn't completely condemning snakes. Even better, they sounded like they were trying to make the public more aware of the breeding season in a non let's all get hysterical kinda way. :)

I say good for them, not that its cool that it ate the cat but still, snakes have feelings to. Don't hate them cause their beautiful.:D

i wish dumb people over here had more respect for snakes....

thats exactly what i thought when i saw this article.

VERY INTERESTING INDEED. there is an over abundance of ally cats around here, if the weather agreed i'd definitely vie for a few friendly neighborhood carpets hehe...

Or people could just suck it up and spend $50 to get their cats spayed/neutered and the problem wouldn't be so bad! There are actually free clinics here, and trap (neuter/spay) and release programs to get the numbers under control.
