For the mothers of the group.
I've got a question. Does morning sickness have to include vomiting?
-
Re: For the mothers of the group.
its different for everyone.. for me, the smell of food made me nautious and I would dry heave most of the time, sometimes actually vomiting. My mom only got sick to her stomach when she smelled leather but no vomitiing. Unfortunately, your body has its own way of dealing with the hormonal shifts happening when pregnant.. so yes sometimes it does. But it doesn't last forever, usually by the second trimester it stops.. at least for me it did.. hope this helps. :D

Re: For the mothers of the group.
OMG, brings back memories!!!! I have 4 kids and all four of the pregnancies were different!
My first one was the classic scenario: vomit once in the morning, felt sick til noon, lasted for 3 months and then all was fine. Got a beautiful girl :)
Second pregnancy: Sick as a dog for 9 months...............got a great son out of it though! ;)
Third pregnancy: Felt sick though never really threw up but once or twice. Great pregnancy after the first month. 9.5 pound baby at the end! :P
Fourth pregnancy: No vomiting, no sick feeling at all; but I was really tired (must have been running after the other three!) After a super long labor another boy was born; 10 pounds!!
After pushing that one out I was DONE!!!!!!!!!!! Ouch!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So....this thread begs the question: a pregnancy???
-
Re: For the mothers of the group.
To answer your question, I do not know. I was one of the "lucky" ones, I never was sick at any time during my four pregnancies. However, I'm sure that just feeling queasy and not liking certain smells could qualify as morning sickness...which, by the way, does NOT just happen in the morning, as my sister-in-law can attest to. She got sick like clockwork around 7 each evening.

I am not sure...I took two tests and they're were negative, but I am still late. I am going to wait one more week then make an appointment. I have been rather nausious and tired though.

Re: For the mothers of the group.
Well, sometimes stress can mess up a cycle. I've had that happen before, so that's possible, and certain medicines can do the same.
Sometimes, though, you just have a "feeling", and if that's the case, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! I never did take a test with my second and third. I just knew. I did with my fourth because I was just so shocked, after Dr. said we couldn't have any more.
Best of luck, and many prayers for you!
-
Re: For the mothers of the group.
Well, I know my best friend has scared me off about this one because she's been nauscious and vomiting pretty much 24-7 for 4 months now. The Doctor told her it was 'normal' though.

Thank you. That means a lot.

Re: For the mothers of the group.
I failed two pregnancy tests, three if you count the one done at the hospital after I was in a car accident. So those aren't necessarily full proof.
As for the sickness part... Both of my pregnancies were very different. I was sick as a dog with my first one for 7 out of 9 months (brief respite in the middle) I also had severe cramping and a scare of a miscarriage. Fortunately everything worked out well, and I have a very healthy boy that will be turning 8 next week. My second pregnancy no illness whatsoever, in fact I just wasn't hungry at all. It was much easier all in all, but I ended up with a thyroid condition, that I believe started during that pregnancy which resulted in a beautiful baby girl.
Either way, however the tests swings for you I hope that you find some peace in the answer.

Re: For the mothers of the group.
Well, I've only been pregnant once and all my friends hate me for it since none of my symptoms were really severe. I did have 'morning sickness' for about the first month and half or so, and it broke a 13 year record of no vomiting...still upset at that one. But I got a cute, way too smart, cheeky little girl out of it who is now 9.
Altogether it wasn't bad for me. The worst thing was the horrid heartburn that ended up giving me acid reflux that I have to take meds for every day now. In fact, don't tell my BF but I really wouldn't mind it again... except the second time I'd better be able to deliver normally and not get cut open again! Grr...she just HAD to decide to flip over... :)
Well, best of luck! Hope you find out for sure soon...I know how mind numbing it can be not being certain.
-
Re: For the mothers of the group.
OMG, I was sick morning noon and night the WHOLE time. It did not always include actually getting sick but I always felt like I was going to. It was so bad I had to quit my job.
But...my labor was a peice of cake so that was good. A trade off I guess.
I hope you get your answer soon, as amystours said, if you have that "feeling" then it most likely is right. I knew a week before I took the test.

Re: For the mothers of the group.
Two kids, both pregnancies totally different.
First
From about 8 weeks pregnant, I was sick as a dog. Nauseated all day and all night, throwing up, hot flashes, the smell of hamburger cooking was enough to have me praying to the porcelain god for hours. Heartburn constantly, especially if I laid down. It was this way until the day I delivered my son.
Second
First 3 months were worse than the 9 months I was sick with my first pregnancy lol. I couldn't stomach anything other than salad, frosted mini wheats and green gatorade. OH it was horrible. I would have given anything to trade those three months for the nine:O Then like clock work, a week into my second trimester I was feeling great, had awesome energy, felt healthier than ever before, and from then on even the delivery of my daughter was a breeze.

Re: For the mothers of the group.
I am so trying not to freak out with this. I mean I am not married, it wasn't planned, though I am in a stable relationship and engaged, we have talked about having children once we were married...this most certainly wasn't the way I was brought up.
I left work after being there an hour. Just so nausated. I need to make a few phone calls on Monday...
How did you guys do it, keep up with work and live sanely and still carry a little one?

I'm sorry that you feel so cruddy. Hopefully it will get better.
As for how we do it... I'm not too sure. The memory goes when you have a kid. (it's the only explanation I have for people who do it multiple times!) I don't know how we do it, but just grin and bear it. My son got stuck in the ball pit, when he was a toddler, and couldn't crawl out. So I had to crawl IN and get him.... while I was 9 months pregnant. That was such a pain, and I'm sure a funny site for anyone who was watching. You just do what you can, and carry a barf bag for the rest... ;) :giggle:

Life is mysterious and complicated and complex! Birth control can be used to prevent unplanned pregnancies....since this was not the case, maybe you guys really do want a baby now!
Babies bring happiness. Period.
You have a stable relationship...you're engaged...you both want children...sounds like your baby (if you are pregnant) is very lucky and will be completely loved!
Find the positive and the joy in this and exploit it!! All is the way it is meant to be. You are terrific and your fiancee is terrific and you may be incubating something very very special!!! No probs; except for the 9 month hatch time! :P

Thank you soo much.
Now another question. Since I am late, can the dr. tell right away if I am pregnant? Or does it have to work like the pregnancy tests and be x amount of days after my cycle? I was never very good at keeping track of that sort of thing, but I do know I am late.
-
Re: For the mothers of the group.
How late are you? Some places say you have to be 10 days late to do a test.
Did any of the tests, have any faint lines in the pregnancy side?
You may be just late, & sometimes being late can make you nauseated.
If not, then def. go to the doctor & get a blood test done, then they can see you HCG levels.
Good Luck!! Both of my pregnancies were different, I was 20 with my first, & I was 29 with my second.

Re: For the mothers of the group.
I didn't go thru my cycle for January. This past week - week and a half I've been nauseated.
-
Re: For the mothers of the group.
My first wasn't planned either. I was in a horrible, horrible situation and only 18 years old. I won't go into details as I am sure no one wants to hear.
I could only keep up with work because I absolutely had to. I had no other choice. Eventually I ended up taking a 12 week leave, 6 weeks pre delivery and 6 weeks post delivery. Due to stress. My doctor told me if I didn't he was admitting me to the hospital on bed rest. I had a lot of support from my mom and step dad and I think thats what got me through, I know it is. Now this is an odd situation.
With my second pregnancy I was engaged, married 5 months after I found out. I have a husband who is the best, I couldn't ask for any better. I had no stress, and didn't have to work BIG thanks to him. I had a wonderful second pregnancy.
If you and your fiance are okay with the pregnancy, then things should be fine. Try not to freak out about it too much, it will cause unnecessary stress on you and you don't need that.
My best advice is go to the doctor, find out for sure. Go from there. Also, if you are pregnant and having trouble with nausea they actually have shot they can give you to help with it. I have had friends who had it and they said it works wonders. Only problem is it takes a couple weeks to really start working.
Your best friends are lots of rest, good mild exorcise, healthy food and tons, and tons of good old water.

Re: For the mothers of the group.
if your dr does a blood test it's way more accurate than a home pregnancy test.
i have three kids... all three pregnancies were different. dealing with morning sickness is a blessing as it means you have a strong pregnancy (way less chance of miscarriage with heavy morning sickness)... so consider it a gift. :puke:
i hope you ARE what you hope to be... whether that's just late, or carrying a new life!
-
Re: For the mothers of the group.
with my first i had no morning sickness, i just "knew" in fact i was so sure i was we did the in office blood test and the levels were so low they were hesitant to give me a "pregnancy" positive. i had to go back a few days later and retest..
with my second i also had that feeling, i just knew i was. did a HPT and it was positive. i was nauseated but never actually threw up, just kinda felt like poo.. whether you are or you arent good luck and i hope you get the result you want :gj:

Re: For the mothers of the group.
Ladies, thank you so much. You guys haven't the slightest clue how encouraging your words have been.
My best friend in the world moved out of state about 6 months ago, so I can't lean on her physically. Though I've told her I think I might be pregnant, she's been supportive, but not her physically has been rough.
My fiance is tickled pink at the idea of children.
And I am just trying not to stress out to much. :)
Again, thank you guys so much!

Re: For the mothers of the group.

LOL it is that "glow" that us women have when we are pregnant!! ;)
My husband said I couldn't have looked better then also (even when I just felt huge and sick!! LOL).
Reptilian, I am so glad that your fiance is excited over the possibility!! Honestly I loved being pregnant. Though I did have really bad "morning sickness" basically 24/7 the first half of both pregnancies and found it hard most nights to fall asleep, just knowing that there was a little person there was ultimately exciting. And then going to checkups and hearing the little heart beat and seeing the ultrasound pics. I absolutely love being a mom, I absolutely love my family.
I too was not married when we found out about our first. I was then 22. We didn't get married until I was about 6 months pregnant. We have been married now for 5 years, have been together for almost 8. I will admit that sometimes it is rough, I am still trying to finish school, while working and taking care of the kids at the same time, but things happen for a reason and if I could go back I wouldn't change anything. I couldn't be happier!!
-
Re: For the mothers of the group.
ya but let's not forget what happens after the pregnancy...
a baby!!!!!

Re: For the mothers of the group.
Well I had an appt. today with the doc. and the results came in. It was negative. So it wasn't ment to be. Not yet at least. At least now my fiance and I don't need to rush things. The wedding, etc.
Once again thank you guys for all your help and support.
-
Re: For the mothers of the group.
it'll happen... when it's the right time.... not nec the right time for you... but the right time for your babe!

Hey sweetie~ When it is cosmically correct, it will happen. I truly believe this because is there *ever* a 'right time' to have a baby????! :O Happy wedding planning~ happy baby planning!!!

Re: For the mothers of the group.
Just a quick question. What are the chances the test they had me take could be wrong? It was a urine test.
-
Re: For the mothers of the group.
you need a blood test to be sure. why not do another urine at home? the ones the dr uses is the same as the one you buy in the store.
-
Re: For the mothers of the group.
Absolutely. In fact, some of the new ones say they can tell the first day after your missed period, if not before. Just a little hint, and it says this doesn't matter, but I think it's extra insurance: test when you FIRST get up in the morning. The hormone levels will be a little more elevated that way. (Or so the wives' tale goes).
(((((((hugs))))))))
-
Re: For the mothers of the group.
it's not a wives tale. you hold your urine all night long so the levels are higher in the morning!
