Howdy!
Greetings from the West!
Just felt I should introduce myself. I'm a new, green, fresh meat forum member!
My name is Jennifer Marshall, I live in Southern Oregon. As is outlined in my profile I am an American Bulldog enthusiast, currently trying to build a breeding program after my stud dog was stolen from me last September. My focus is on the protection sports of French Ring and Mondioring, with further interests in Narcotics/Bomb detection and Search and Rescue.
Enough about dogs. Long time reptile admirer, I had a couple of Alligator Lizards I caught myself in the woods when young that I successfully kept alive for a couple of years before returning them to the wild. If you don't know what an Alligator Lizard is all you have to know is that they can get pretty big in this area (up to about 20" total length depending on the species) and they bite like, well, an alligator. :D I had 2 bearded dragons I "rescued" from an ill intentioned owner, and I had a few cornsnakes. Its been years since I've had any scaled critter in the house and I am looking forward to finally being able to pursue an interest of mine .. Ball Pythons!
I figured this forum was a good place to start. I've been reading everything I can find online for a while now, starting to order books, and soaking things up like a dry sponge. I am looking forward to getting a few juveniles this year. My primary interests are gorgeous "pets" with breeding as a possible consideration down the line. My focus is on spiders, pastels, hypos and their possibilities (I hate flying buzzing bees, can't get enough of the slithering kind!)
I'm glad to be here and look forward to learning tremendous amounts of various things.

Re: Howdy!
First off: :welcome:
Second, same here about the bees. I'm phobic about the buzzy ones, but the Ball Python Bee is my favorite morph!
Stick around, listen to the long timers advice, and research tons! BP's are the greatest!
P.S. I'm originally from Seattle... so also a NorthWesterner. :)

Re: Howdy!
Thanks Argentra! Down the road when I have more saved up than I currently do I want an Axanthic Killer Bee :D but I love the honeybees and the bumblebees. I'll start out with a lovely spider and a pastel to admire.

Re: Howdy!
Welcome to the site. It sounds like you have a good idea of what you want to get into, but I should warn you that they are highly addictive.

Re: Howdy!
Thank you Tigerlily :) Pretty much everything I get into is addicting. I'm prepared

Re: Howdy!
Welcome! From one Jennifer to another :) You should enjoy it here..
Woah! You have Friesians? They are gorgeous horses. You'll find alot of horse people here as well ;)

Re: Howdy!
Welcome! You'll find out that ball pythons are like potato chips and you can't stop with just one!

Re: Howdy!
Ginevive - I currently don't have any friesians, I am working on it, though! Working out the bugs and kinks of getting a pair of geldings from the Netherlands. I just need the Friesians and some BPs and I'll have all the ingredients I need.
And potato chips? :D If they are indeed that addicting then I will only be limited by how many hours I can work a week and how much money I can make on my other hobbies heehee
Thanks again everyone for the warm welcome

JBall - Glad I'm not the only one who thinks so! :D I have a small gallery of some various pictures of my last stud. He was stolen in September :tears: , still trying to find him.

He was stolen only a couple weeks before his Pennhip and CERF testing, and if I had him now we would be preparing for Irondog and WABA competitions to start him breeding this year. I had a few females lined up, was in the process of purchasing an adult female but when he was taken I put all my money into trying to find him. I fear I will never get him back :(
The rest are not born yet, but are paid for. I'm getting some nice old southern line and new working line pups to start over again.
And all this free time I seem to have has brought to mind other interests and that is why I am here. Nothing like a few extra bucks and an empty house to remind you of things you want haha.
Thank you Franky, I've been scanning through the various forums and reading all the stickies I come across and trying to absorb it all. I ran out of ink earlier after printing about 50 pages worth of info. Since books are cheaper than the ink my printer takes I ordered a few from Amazon to get readin. I will surely pick your brains if I find I have questions that are unanswered.
I am lucky though, my background in equine and canine genetics prepared me for the world of morphs. My brother looks at the screen like it's all written in Chinese and I'm nodding my head with a "That makes perfect sense" look :D

Sorry to hear about your stolen dog! Its GREAT to hear that you actually compete your dogs, I've wanted to get into that kind of thing in the future.

Re: Howdy!
Yeah I do show in conformation but that most certainly isn't all I require in my dogs. Just because a dog is pretty doesn't make it a breeding quality dog in my book. I am extremely ambitious and cross train for multiple sports and titles. Competition Obedience, Agility, Endurance and several different protection sports. I shoot for at least 5 titles on a breeding dog.
I recently switched from a Schutzhund type of training to ringsport training for French Ring and Mondioring alongside the Irondog and WABA protection sports and Endurance tests. Main reason is my dogs are actual protection dogs not just weekend warriors. I'd much rather have an extreme athlete guarding my home than a pampered couch potato :D
I am still in the learning curve for Mondioring my next pups will all be ringsport dogs. I am very excited.
