he's on his way.. my normal reduced pattern male :snake: is on his way!!! He left the Orlando shipping facility at 10pm tonight. now the waiting begins. Im so excited right now, but I'm sure that tomorrow I'll be on pins and needles until he gets delivered.

Been refreshing that shipping site much Doris? LMAO I'm always nuts when a snake ships in, refreshing FedEx, putting huge notes on my door so they don't get the wrong adddress or something, jumping up to check the door about every 10 minutes, snatching the box from the poor FedEx man who just wants me to nicely sign his little electronic thing....basically I'm a total mess until that snake is in my hands.

Don't forget to snap a couple of pics before you tuck him in his home and congrats! :)

LOL, I did a few times this morning before I brought my oldest boy to school. Then I went shopping. Keep myself busy so I dont go stir crazy waiting for him to arrive, plus having the two little ones helps occupy me. But as soon as I got home.. I was all over that site checking on the status. It now has left their OH facility, which is close..

thanx everyone for wishing me well, and yes I will snap a few pics of him before he goes into his home.

Go get him...you said it is only an hour away?

Also, did Fedex screw up or the shipper? If they did then they are typically more helpful in making exceptions on getting you the package esp. for a live animal (not always but gives you some leverage)

    Keep your head up.

Not to worry! This happened to me when I ordered my Axanthic male from VPI. It was due to the weather. He sat in Tennessee for two days and finally showed up at my door. He was no worse for wear and is as healthy as they come nowadays. Remember that he is in a box protected and with a heat pack. As far as not tomm. why? is it the weather or just a screw up? If it is a shipping company screw up I would just call in the morning and raise HOLY HELL! Then you can play the game ....."ok your not helping me! who is your supervisor?"....and on and on........till you get that little guy in your hands. Best of luck and he will be fine!:snake:

thanx rob. yeah I called them to see what I could do tonight to fix the problem and the woman was helpful and told me how to word my fax and the number to fax it too. so I did that, but I will call them tomorrow morning and ream them another new one if its not fixed by then and he's on his way. He is only 45 minutes away from me, but to drag two children 2 years old and under all the way over there to get him, and then drive back.. not sure I want to subject myself to that o.O.

see Doris, I have two kids (three and almost two) and I would totally load up and make the drive. Its a hassle but its worth it to know my animal would be home.. and it helps I enjoy going for drives.. I hope it gets to you soon.

yeah I hear ya... Im debating on what to do.. I'll make my decision in the morning when I call them. if they've fixed the problem and he's on the truck then no worries. if its not fixed and he's not on the truck then I'll go for the drive, but I'm taking my reamer stick with me to ream somebody a new one or at least poke them in the head with (I'd rather club them, but I'll have the kids with me :D ).

I don't want to step on any toes so please understand that I am only speaking about how I would personally handle a similar situation. I don't know you, and I don't know if there are other circumstances you've not mentioned that might impede your ability to travel the distance to get your snake (injured child, personal health issues, being under house arrest - kidding!) but that said...

In my opinion, the snake didn't ask to be packed into a shipping box and sent across the country. He is a rather helpless little animal who has no voice with which to speak his wishes, or to say who he would or would not like to live with. Therefore as the animal’s human keeper, I would feel that I had an obligation to occasionally disrupt my schedule or go through an unforeseen hassle in caring for his needs.

I would only hope that if (when?) I am ever abducted by aliens, packed into an intergalactic shipping box and sent to a distant planet, that my new overlords would be as benevolent! ;)

Today you might be needed to drive 2 hours both ways to pick him up and spare him the danger of the heating pad wearing off and sitting in a cold room for 24-48/hrs. One day you might need to take an emergency drive to a herp vet in the middle of the night to make sure he is healthy, or to pick up medicine. The way I see it, it is all an extension of the commitment we make when taking one of these animals into our home and thus, into our lives.

I assume you wanted to hear other people’s opinions by posting here, so, this is mine. Again, I am not judging you or your reasoning. I’m only explaining how and why I would handle a similar situation.

I truly wish you and your snake the absolute best of luck and health, and long and happy life together!  I look forward to pictures! :)

    --- Update:
Ah! I just posted and see that you already responded while I was typing (and making something to eat) Well, I’ll leave what I wrote with the addition: kudos to you! I hope all works out, but if not, then give’em one for me!

LOL yep but you live up in Canada Leeshie. We canucks are used to everything being a good hour away aren't we. When I lived up in the Yukon we never thought anything of driving 5 hours one way to get to go grocery shopping in Whitehorse the next morning, then drive home that night. Distances were nothing when I was on the hunt for actual fresh, white mushrooms and bread that's wasn't stale! :D

Doris, I'm crossing all my crossable bits that you get that snake home safe and sound.

when i'm waiting for a package.....my neighbors must think i'm weird all the windows open, and i'm like a house cat the way i sit at the window, waiting for any sound of a truck, and when school buses, or furniture trucks go by i get  and yell, get out of here, i thought you were Fedex! Another thing, the fedex truck doesn't sound anything like a Big Rig! It's pretty quiet so i have no idea why i mistake the sound of a moving truck for the fedex guy! but whatever!

    Hope he arrives today! :)
