You posted in "General Herp" so we have NO idea what kind of herp your ziggy actually is. Would you mind sharing that information? ;) Also his age, size, how long you've had him, & any other pertinent information would help us to help you. Also, what kind of enclosure is this? glass with screen top?

If you share pictures of your enclosure and pet, you'll get the advice you need more quickly. If you don't know how to post pictures on this forum, see this thread.

Did you follow the link that Homebody gave you in post above? Most here use Tapatalk app- here's a link to thread about posting pics:

    https://ball-pythons.net/forums/show...-Post-Pictures

Also, you mentioned this is Ziggy's new home- what did he live in previously? The dimensions you gave above for his new home are quite large for a BP- and many prefer cozier homes because they feel safer. When they feel safe, that's when they eat & thrive, so it's possible that the trouble you're having is because he feels "lost" in his new home.

It's also just very confusing & scary for a snake- they don't understand where the home they knew disappeared to, even if the size isn't overly large. But when you house a BP in a large enclosure, it usually means you need to make it feel cozy- by adding multiple hides & other things to "clutter" it (like branches, driftwood, fake plants, etc.).

Why do you want to do that? If the warmest side is in the proper range (up to 88-90*) the water in the bowl will eventually get to low 80's too (put it in the middle of enclosure)- but bear in mind the water is always going to feel cool to you, because you're roughly 98.6*. ;)

BTW- I'm putting this thread in the BP Husbandry forum, where it belongs. https://ball-pythons.net/forums/foru...2-BP-Husbandry :snake:

Can you install a UTH under it? Controlled by t-stat, naturally.

On top of the hide it’s 100 degrees underneath it is good
The water them is ok at 76 but underneath it it’s 69 to 74 degrees
