    My first bite!!
So today I went to go do tub checks for poo and the first tub I pulled out was my juvenile BP. I was excited to check out his new skin since he just shed yesterday morning. Apparently I pulled out the tub too fast and grabbed his hide too quickly because he got spooked and tagged me. He didn't latch on and in no way did it hurt but I definitely felt teeth. I immediately picked him up to make sure he was okay since I scared him. While holding him giving him a good look over to make sure he was fine I thought to myself "this is hilarious that I feel bad for him that he bit me and I was more worried about him than myself" hahaha. It just goes to show that even with keeping something as easy as a bp - as the snake world goes - you should never get complacent and always treat them with respect. Happy hump day everyone!!

I don't know if it counts if he didn't draw blood, but Welcome to the club! :D

Haha I know that's what I get. It was 100% my fault. I feel pretty bad for spooking him like that. There was no blood. U can barely see a tiny little hole where a tooth went in. Poor little guy lol

I might be getting a bredli carpet python sometime next month so we'll see about that drawing blood clause!

Highly upset female retic was my worst bite ever. Made ribbons of my forearm. After that I don't really fear anything that isn't hot.

I've heard retic bites are the worst because they don't just bite and latch down. They bite and pull backwards causing a lot of damage. Is that how it was?

The worst part about a bite is not reacting. Jumping back sucks, but once u get out of that it’s not to bad. And I say that without much experience being bitten so don’t trust me lol. I’m good at reading them and only get tagged by babies because I don’t care. Haven’t had a big snake bite me yet. Sure it will happen some day as I want to start a herping club in Houston

I got it when I wasn't looking. I assume that's what happened based on the patterning. It was like road rash from hell. It was years ago when I was a stupid kid who owned snakes he shouldn't have. :)

My juvenile Bredli is sweet as pie. All of my carpets are actually. I think they just get a bad rap. :)

My prior and current experience with carpets says the same. I had an adult jungle mix, subadult Irian Jaya, and hatchling coastal many years ago...only the hatchling was nippy at first, the other two were sweethearts. My new guy is proving to be a sweetie as well.

I would be getting her from a friend who breeds carpets. The bredli just isn't fitting into his breeding plan so I offered to buy her. She's a yearling. He says most it the time she's really cool but has her moods just like any other animal. I'm confident with enough work she'll be as sweet as pie. She's gonna be the last addition for a while. Or at least until October Tinley!
