Bug eyes? Like I mean HUGE eyes
Just hatched out my first ball python clutch! I got 6 babies and they look great! There is one however with the biggest eyes I’ve ever seen. Ever. They are about 4 times the size of the others who all have normal eyes. Other than this it looks totally healthy. It was even the first one out of the egg. Should I be concerned about the eyes though?

I have no experience on this subject, but I suggest posting pictures if you can.

is it a Super Lesser/Super Butter/ButterxLesser? that form is known for bug eyes.

here are a few example pix:

they're mainly a visual, aesthetic deformity. they live just fine but it is kinda freaky. the snake should grow into it's eyes a bit as it gets larger but they will still be buggy.

I think it's kinda cute, but then I'm a big fan of Trans Pecos rat snakes, who have naturally buggy eyes, lol.

I've heard of this uncommon defect but never had any snakes that actually have it...I don't know what it could hurt, at least?

Hey totally forgot to ad the pairing. It’s weird because it was just spider to het pied. But two spiders in the clutch are almost white in color with normal markings and the other 3 are normal looking. Then I got one normal. So it’s been a weird clutch. And sorry, can’t post pics. I’ve tried but it doesn’t work.

Oh and btw, the eyes are even bigger than the snakes pictured. It’s just weird because it was spider to normal het pied. And I got 5 spiders to 1 normal, two spiders are almost white in color and one spider has gigantic eyes. Definitely a weird experience.

If it's not the "bug eyes" defect from something like a super lesser pairing then it's either an eye infection or a blocked tear duct (see https://en.wikivet.net/Snake_Bullous_Spectaculopathy ) and requires a vet trip to help clear it up.

ok, now i'm really curious and really wanna see the pix of the white Spiders and their parents. follow the How to Post Pix guide i provided above or upload to your gallery. i could even give u my number if u wanna text it to me and i'll upload it Lol. i wonder if your your Spider is really a Spider het Pied and what u have are White Weddings (all white Spieds' or all white Spider Pieds). Or my other guess is a long shot, but the het Pied may be a low expression Spider and what u have are 2 Super Spiders which is supposed to be all white and lethal. how are they doing? ok?

i'm really curious. please find out how to post pix. :)

Ok hey. I really looked at the weird one today. His jaw has a slight gap on one side and his whole face is a little short. It’s defintely not just the eyes. And to clear up, the spiders that look “white” still have the black striping. They now look quite yellow but not like a bumblebee. The one who looks like a normal spider has almost no pattern on its sides. I will try to put pics to my gallery so look there.

That took forever but when I look at my gallery the pictures are there. Hopefully that provides enough reference.

Wow... I just saw that pic... you weren't kidding! :O

That's clearly a deformity of some kind, or nature just trying out a thing.... wonder if it has better vision?
