Found this Snake Tonight.
Re: Found this Snake Tonight.
I believe it to be a Northern Water Snake (Nerodia sipedon).
Correct me if I'm wrong.

I was thinking midland water snake which I believe has that same triangular head even though its non venomous
Re: Found this Snake Tonight.
Common water snakes have very similar subspecies, but I believe can be identified by in which region they are found. Visually very similar.

Found this guy while on a bike ride today. Went to pick him up and he was already deceased. Any idea what he may be?

Pictures in post #1 in this thread: Looks like a northern water snake to me, too. Not venomous. A cottonmouth's head would be an equilateral triangle.
Post 5: A young corn snake (Pantherophis guttatus). Not venomous. Mouse eater so to good to have around. Often kept as a pet. Too bad he was dead.
yes, you are correct. I live in the greater Atlanta area where these snakes were found.
Re: Found this Snake Tonight.
The neighbors are freaking out because this guy was found near the house. Most are claiming it’s a copperhead but hard for me to tell since the picture is a little grainy. Any ideas?

I tend to agree with you. It almost looks like the 1st picture in this post which was identified as a water snake. My son and I went looking for it tonight but we’re unable to locate it.

Found this little guy in the yard today. He was completely tame and proved to be a great teaching tool for the young ones. I believe he’s a Northern Brown Snake.

Yup he’s a northern brown and some people call them dekays brown snake. I caught one inside the shop I work at. I still have her and she’s awesome. Her favorite food is night crawlers and she eats from my hand. They are awesome little snakes.

I put a small bowl in the fork of a branch that I have in her tank and she stays there a lot. I also made a hide at work from some scrap pieces of wood and that’s where she drags her night crawlers to eat lol

That's so interesting. Appreciate you sharing that. I kept him in a bucket for a little while before I was going to take him and put him back near a creek. Before I could rehome him, he had escaped and wondered off. Neat little creature.
