    Bump on bps neck... help
Ok so last Sunday I came home to my bp stuck to the sticky adheasive that kept my thermometer on. I eased him off and checked him over and he was fine(no scales tore or anything. Still active . Well next day I noticed a tiny bump and I figured it was maybe a strained muscle( didn't seem to bother him.) I ran my finger over it and it is not hard and seems to go away ( can't feel the bump) with finger. As of today it's still there and I am concerned. Snake seems fine still slithers fine, acting normal and has stem twice... any ideas?

NEVER EVER EVER put adhesives or tapes in the enclosure!!! i hope you learned a lesson and i hope the snake isn't going to suffer much more from your mistake.

pics are worth a thousand words; we can't offer much help without pics.

First idea is never put any adhesive in your enclosure.

Is the bump near where he was stuck? Can you post a pic?

The bump is not where he was stuck and big lesson learnt, I feel completely bad about it... this is dumb but could someone p.m me a phone number to text pics to and post them for me ... I am not computer savvy at all, the bump is about 1/4 in up from where he was stuck( stuck scales were 4 belly scales )

Last week someone had an animal get wrapped up in some tape. Sounded like it broke it's own neck trying to get free. I believe it died while we were trying to get the owner to take it to the vet. Try your best to get a picture posted, but please keep in mind there is only so much we can do for you here. Odds are we are going to tell you to take it to the vet.

That sticky tells you how to post photos. I'd take that snake to a vet though, if you didn't notice it before it got stuck chances are it's a result of that and could be alot worse than it seems to be.

Maybe I'm getting blind in my old age. Where is the bump?

OK, I see it now. How far is that away from the belly scales that were stuck?

could it be an abscess? somehow that portion became irritated as well? hard to think these two are unrelated...maybe a vet visit is in order just for peace of mind.

I was suspecting that as well. That's what has me worried , was not there then a day later magically it is. I didn't know if it was an irritated muscle or what not I was more concerned with a skeletal issue

you said it wasn't hard, correct? it sounds like pus/bacteria or fluid build-up. that doesn't lead me to believe it has anything to do with bones but i am in NO WAY QUALIFIED to diagnose this issue. i'd be going to a vet asap.

Vet is the best solution at this point. The good news is that it appears to be low and does not look to be spinal column related. Good luck and please keep us updated. The more stuff like this that we have documented, the better off we all are. The vets know a lot less than we like to think they do. They just do not have the data. I have a long story to tell on that front once my personal saga is complete. Something like this should be no problem for a half way competent exotics vet though.
