Appropriate size of objects in tank
So I learned a few days ago that the size of the tank matters. Because if it is to big the snake will get stressed. I had already bought some things and wanted to know if an extra large hide is to big for a snake of 500 grams? And if so what size should I get?
Also what size bowl? I was told it had to be big enough for the snake to fit it's whole body in is that true? And a big bowl helps with humility so should I get a smaller one?

This is how my tank set up will look but I will be adding more plants.

It's kinda difficult to offer too much advice at this stage and people's opinions on Viv / tank sizes differ so much .
I actually rather like bigger vivs as long as there are plenty of hiding places / quiet corners . That can be done easily with a two or more hides and loads of branches and pieces of dried bark . Sadly those two hides you've got there are far from ideal as they're both open- ended which offer very little security . I'd get two or three snake hides ( one opening) .
It's ideal time to make sure you get the basics bought though ... not sure what kind of heater you're going for but a thermostat is VITAL even though many shops will not mention them or say they're not required . They are .
Also get a couple of thermometers with wired probes and even a digital temp gun ( £10 off eBay) .

Can you recommend any hides? I am well aware of the importance of a thermometer. I just really need help with the hides and I think you very much for your concern.

Here is another hide I have.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...3a86365f24.jpg
It is a grey rock like hide that is closed up. It has 3 openings though.

Something like these natural looking ones ( and heavier - more secure ) from Exo-Terra .

There is one on the top one on the side and one on the back.

I agree with Zincubus. I would get two hides to replace the half logs. Either the style you posted or the style Zinc posted will both work, just a matter of preference. When it comes to size, you want something fairly snug to make your snake feel secure. Ideally, they like to be pressed up against something when they can. Basically, if they are covered from as many angles as possible, they can't get eaten. Their primitive brains (though there is much debate on this topic) don't know a whole lot besides eat and don't get eaten. So feeling secure and safe from being eaten is very important to them.
Your water bowl looks good to me, as well as the plant/hide. Just be careful with those style hides, it can be extremely difficult to get the snake out if he/she gets stuck in there or doesn't feel like coming out.
A quality thermostat is very important, probably the most important thing you will buy.
A decent digital thermometer/hygrometer is important, they dial style stick-ons are wildly inaccurate. An Accurite from Walmart is under $10.
A temp gun is also extremely handy.
More clutter will also help to make your snake feel secure.
Thank you guys very much!

So about the hides size is a large to big if the ball python is going to be 350-500 grams?

Have you decided what kind of snake yet ? Royal / Ball python ( same thing ) or maybe a Corn snake or ??
Best to buy from a breeder rather than a snake store to be honest but if you've no option make sure it's a good eater ( on thawed frozen ) .
Ps - forgive me if you've already said which snake :)

Thank you again for the advice

I use the plastic hides from Reptile Basics for all my snakes. They work just fine.
