Mojave/Pastel or other Mojave combos
hi everyone. i know i've acquired two snakes very recently in a short amount of time, but of course i'm looking around for my next one. i absolutely LOVE the mojave gene, and mojave pastels are gorgeous.
i was wondering what are some WOW mojave combos you guys have seen. i like GHI/Mojave for the dark colors and dorsal pattern, but i love the mojave side pattern and snakes with STARK contrasting.

i'm not the best with morph knowledge so i was hoping for some help, opinions or pictures. anything is appreciated! thanks, all!

Well, I'm going to say purple passion, but the one below courtesy of WOB. Is my end game for my highway project.

Re: Mojave/Pastel or other Mojave combos
Mojave is one of those genes that does amazing things with a lot of different morphs. I think the only combos I've seen that I don't like are those with OD...
Anyway, I like thinking a little outside of my comfort zone when it comes to Mojave. Blackhead, hidden gene woma and black pastel all make great combos with Mojave.

This one is interesting. I normally don't care for the lack of contrast, but it works for this animal. I really like the head for some reason.

SAME! i was so close to buying a clown morph at NARBC; it was my first time seeing one with my own eyes.

Re: Mojave/Pastel or other Mojave combos
i love Mojo's! lol it's my first runner up morph (to Albino's). i like how they present two sides of contrast - u can breed them to get something light (like a BEL) or u can go dark (like a GHI Mojave).

Honestly, I forgot about Mojave clowns when I mentioned orange dream earlier... there's something about the head that I don't like...
One of the next morphs I plan to pick up, perhaps next year, is phantom. I really love the dark Mojave combos and I feel like replacing Mojave with a really dark line of phantom will make them even better!

that would make sense. Phantoms and Mystics won't have the green tint alotta Mojo's have.

Yep! I'm going to stick mostly to the darker stuff but I definitely plan to work phantom into my bright spider stuff. Phantom spiders are really nice! Plus they pretty much remove the white sides which is nice.

i think the most amazing Mojave combo is Dave Green's Monsoon Mojave. i think it's one of the biggest things in BP's as much as the Scaleless and Sunset. it just looks so different.

can't wait to have my own one day. :)

The more sunset combos I see the less I like them tbh... They all look a little too similar for my liking. I'm hoping sunset clowns might change my mind but right now for me monsoon > sunset & scaleless

I am a little selfish. The ones I produced last season I kept as holdbacks. The sire has repeatedly proven to have the best Phantom genes that I have personally seen. As a bonus all his offspring are large for ball pythons. I kept most of his girls from last season. At around 8 months they are already well over 1000 grams. They are going to be ready to go next season and I will be able to consistently produce PP's, PPP's, and PP Enchi combos. This season's focus was on producing Super Enchi Phantoms, Super Enchi Phantom Pins, and a lot of BEL stuff. I am also going to have more Super Mojaves than I know what to do with I think. The good news is my Phantom het lavender that I thought reabsorbed is ovulating as we speak (I am very glad to have been wrong). Puts me within a year of producing a Phantom/Lavender version of a Cherry Bomb if I get a boy. (Look out Ax, I'm catching up LOL). I love all the BEL combos. Especially the Purple Passions.

My logic was that Enchi enhances the expression of yellow in the BluELs and has a tendency to pull the side pattern away from the dorsal stripe.
It is possible I am incorrect, no one had made PPEP before last season so I had nothing to compare to. But I really hope I am not wrong because I sold what I had labeled as the PPP :O

I think I may have thought that too in your situation if I had not already produced one without the enchi. I wish I had a better picture of this guy right now, but he is definitely PPP. There was no enchi involved in his breeding. The picture does not show the yellow dorsal very well, but it has gotten even more yellow as he has aged. Who knows? You may be right, but even the pattern seems right. It is so flipping hard to tell when the genes start adding up.

I'll agree that its a nice animal but not even in the same class as a pastave highway.

Maybe stillbp disagrees or maybe they posted this simply because leopard Mojave hasn't been mentioned...
You're also comparing a two gene animal to a four gene animal. There are some awesome combos that have been made with Mojave leopard (just a few three and one four gene animal from WOB)

Sure none of them will ever produce a super gravel but they all look awesome and will likely age better then the pastave highway.
P.S. Sorry if I took your message out of context but I felt the need to be slightly defensive here..........

LOL. I am very rarely serious on here unless it is a black and white issue. I am of course playing around. Everyone has their own preferences. I do think think the pastave highway is the prettier animal and the degree of difficulty is very high. There is no pleasing everyone. I don't like hypos or pieds. Most people do so that makes me the odd one. BEL complex is my thing though so I obviously have better taste than everyone else. ROFL
Honestly, I like these threads and listening to people's opinions. Some of the stuff I make is for me, some for other people. So, even if I personally don't like the flavor, I learn what people like and try to make it to taste.

Haha looks like I did misinterpret [emoji43]
What do you mean the degree of difficulty is high? Like 4 genes vs 2 or maybe because gravels are harder to produce? More expensive?
I do like hypos but I think it's a pretty common thing to dislike them. Pieds on the other hand... It seems like everyone likes them but I feel the same way as you. The only pied combos I really like are super enchi's because they have little to no white. I also love BEL complex animals but I largely prefer them in heterozygous form as opposed to homozygous.
It's interesting that you say you try to appeal to what the market wants. I thought that was highly frowned upon lol It doesn't bother me hearing you say that but I do find the honesty surprising... I don't think I'll ever have enough space to satisfy my tastes let alone the tastes of others so I'm sticking to my own for now... Hopefully there will be a demand for what I produce but if not it's not the end of the world.
But anyway back on topic...

Maybe think of it as being a chef. Odds are there is stuff you make that you don't like, but your customers do. My enjoyment comes from caring for the animals and producing things that make people smile. Kind of like watching kids on x-mas morning opening up some toy that they really like but you cannot figure out why. I have some butt ugly animals in my collection. They get the same treatment as all the other ones. Most of them were animals my daughters wanted. For some reason they think they are beautiful.
As far as leopard combos go.... Deborah has some of the best I have ever seen.

I don't disagree. The highway mojo is super. However first correct the mojo leo was not mentioned. Second you can find a super nice mojo leo around $300 so your average hobbiest can afford it. The highway mojo is several thousand dollars and not likely to be bought by a average hobbiest.

Bugger!! My breeding was PhantomPin x Mochi so I was shooting from the hip on those three and it does look like I might have miscalled them... Guess someone got a sweet deal on the only PPEP to be sold LOL
Well I will add another couple for fun here, DesertGhost Mojave and DesertGhost Enchi Mojave
