HELP! Snake with odd pink belly
So long story, I got home late last night to notice my snake pooped in her tank. I went to clean it and noticed her belly was grey from the ink on the newspaper she's on. Me being anxious I tried to wash it off her with a wet cloth and a little bit of dish soap, I rinsed her off after to notice it was pinkish underneath where I rubbed. Not like she's pink in shed I know the difference. And it's only in a certain area. So after I just put paper towel down. After this I left for awhile when I came back I saw 2 very very small spots of blood on her paper towel. I panicked and pulled her out, unable to find where the blood came from I let it rest until this morning. This morning I pulled her out to see her lower belly still pretty pink. I'm worried it's something like septciemea or something I don't know. Or from rubbing her I have no idea what please help!

With not being there and not at least seeing a pic anything will be a blind guess.

If you have an uth, is it on a thermostat?

What is her set up, temps and humidity like?

Do you have an UTH? Could it possibly be a burn?

Her UTH is controlled with a thermostat, it's regularly just 90-92 degrees.
    Her humidty is usually 45%-50%

It's only red on her lower belly, not all over like she would be going into shed.

Does it look like a minor burn? If so I can guess what it could be from, when I took Athena to the vet the other day for her yearly checkup, I made makeshift "heat pads". I put wet, hot cloths into a ziplock bag. Then put it under a towel in her bin that I use for transportation. It was pretty warm, but warm enough to burn her??

Does the color stay or disappear when you press on it?

It kinda does. What you described could have done it. When you add water to heat the heat shoots through the moist item extremely well.

I just pressed, doesn't seem to lighten. But the red is very pale.

I don't think you have anything to worry about but I would not use that method for heat during transport again.

With no other signs of an infection or issue I seriously doubt it. If she has been eating, shedding, and having regular movements I don't see any reason to worry.

Im curious what your vet did for a yearly check up. I don't remember ever seeing anybody taking their snakes for a yearly check up.

I always take her in every year since I've gotten her lol, my vet just examines her physically, weighs her, checks inside her mouth, cloaca. She also uses a stethoscope for her heart and lungs.

I hope they don't charge you much for it. That's all things you can do yourself. Ive only taken one snake to the vet. My GTP right after I got him. He was sold to me with a RI. Thankfully he recovered and has been happy and healthy since.

Vets really bother me with all their little fees. Anything to get another buck. That's one thing I really love about my snakes. They are historically healthy animals that don't need yearly shots and vaccines.

My vet tries to push the flu shot for my dogs and gave me a strange look when I laughed and said I don't get a flu shot so my dogs surely aren't. Well, I don't get a flu shot but since I had to board my pups with them they have because its mandatory before the vet will board them. I was in a pinch so I did it. Two dogs getting $40something dollar flu shots is ridiculous to me.

Yeah I agree it's ridiculous but I always feel that a vet knows better than me and is better at pinpointing if there is an issue. Athena had a RI before too and my vet was awful with prescribing me with crap, I ended up just fixing it myself with Vix treatments and reptaid, she got over it so quickly compared to how she was on those antibiotics. I just panic with Athena Everytime something is off in the slightest. I do my absolute best to take care of her, I monitor her heat and humidity daily. Even after all this I've switched her Eco earth to paper towel... I don't know what else I can do to keep her routinely healthy. She's been eating large rats once a week. Otherwise she's been an over all healthy animal.

Before and after ughhhh, but if it means a healthier snake I don't care how it looks. Ignore the little wet spots on her paper towel it was from the moss

    Oh.

I like Eco Earth but though it a bit of a pain by itself. I use a mix of Eco Earth, Repti Bark, and Cypress Mulch. I mix it to the desired appearance in a large tub I have. Then I can easily dish it out when needed. It has a natural look with all the best features of each kind of substrate.

You tank looks really nice. I can tell you really take good care of your snake.

I was thinking that the scale discoloration may come from the substrate. Especially if there are really moist areas that the snake lays in inside the enclosure. Good idea putting her on paper towels.

Thank you! I try my absolute hardest for her. And I've been keeping an eye on her, it's still pink, but doesn't seem to be spreading or anything. Does septciemea spread really quickly?

Snakes are tough. Balls seem to be really tough. Ive seen some make it in some terrible conditions.

You seem to be doing a great job taking care of yours and you need to relax and enjoy it. One day this will all be simple to you and you will be a true BP veteran.

She's my first snake, I've had her since the day she hatched. She's now 2 and a half years old and my whole world, I've done my best to educate myself and be the best snake mom I can. You've been such a great help and I really appreciate all your help! It means the world to me. If you don't mind me asking is the blood Python in your profile picture yours? It's gorgeous.

It sure is. I actually have three just like it. They are Bangka Het. Albino. One parent was from Chris Lipps and the other from our own Kara from The Blood Cell. I always wanted a Blood from Kara so when I saw some that were half from her I jumped on it. My plan is to breed them but life has kept me from doing that yet. I think it will be happening soon though.
