    Fresh shed beauty.
:)Photos are always good after a clean shed goes down.

Wallace cycled through his 2nd shed since his arrival here. I decided to delay his feeding day until he completed the process. I may snap an additional round while he eats today depending on how much time I have.

These turned out OK but I prefer outdoor shots and those will have to wait until spring.

He enjoys climbing which is a trait/behavior that I favor in the snakes we have here.

I always wanted a retic with the pumpkin, orange eyes, but I have grown to like these peepers.

This is the other side of his face. I always seem to take my pictures from the same side so I did some maneuvering and caught the opposite side. He doesn't have a "good side" and is rather handsome from both sides!

A lot of these are similar but I enjoy posting pictures so I loaded them all.

This fella has a bit of a "genetic package" although nothing special. He is SD X Dwarf, Tiger and is Het Snow, Purple Albino and Anery. I suspect his eyes and a lot of his greens come from the SD part of the equation.

As Reptileexperts has posted in the past that this is an "advanced" species and I agree. There are some things you need to learn rather quickly and practices to put in place before they get large. Understanding their movements is key. Somebody in this forum mentioned keeping in physical contact with the snake while it is out for handling. I am finding this to be helpful at least in my situation. Wallace is very good "in hand" but if I set him down for a bit, I find it safer to reintroduce myself with a little tap or rub before I pick him up again. His shed was 4 feet long today so I suspect he is still about 3 feet long.

The TIGER pattern is still tops for me.

Just look at the colors and pattern. Morphish?? I guess, but he would easily survive in his natural habitat which is something I like.

    Grabbing a bite.
He was ready to go and since I still had the camera out I figured these might look even better with a natural background.

    Flash on.

    Better lighting.

He took this down incredibly fast.

    All done.

    Thanks for looking.

He looks spectacular after that fresh shed.

I love those pics of him eating, how he looks right into the camera. I reckon it's true that you can see Retics follow you with their eyes.

Yes, it is true, and right after the last shot he was tracking me with some intensity. I figured that the photo op had run its course and it was time to leave him be.

He is still a shy feeder which I'm OK with as I prefer to avoid the immediate lunge and strike reaction for as long as possible.

Absolutely gorgeous, Gio! He seems to have put on a bit of size since you first got him. Still small but you can tell he's growing. I agree, tiger is such an awesome pattern. Maybe someday when I have more time and space I'll get a tiger of my own. Phyllis should be shedding in the next day or so, I'll post updates of her fresh paint job as well. Thanks for sharing the pics! He's a real looker!

Yes, get some new Phyllis shots up. I want to see her post shed. Wallace is growing and I can tell. I'm debating on extending the feedings to every 10 or more days. So far he has not been roaming or showing any sign of being overly hungry. He takes what he's offered, but he is not at all aggressive at this point. I'll see how long he can hang on these smalls for.

He is just a week over 5 months old and seems to be 3 feet or just a touch over. He's still young and new so a measurement would be difficult to obtain.

Nice looking snake man. I like that last one of the first set of pictures where he has his head perched on that wooden post lol.

And they do follow you with their eyes. Caesar watches me do stuff around the room if he's awake and sitting on his shelf or half on top of his hide.

Great pics, Glo. Mine definitely keys in on eyes. He is hard to take close up pics of because he wants to look at the camera.

I was worried he was going to strike at the camera in the last feeding pictures.

I'm looking deeper into these threads, but since you posted here, how about a few shots of your snake here. It is not an interruption to the thread, but rather an addition to it so feel free!

Here a pic of him that I took today. As Reptile experts and you have noted, they are different. He was twitchy yesterday to to point of biting at the tapper, and I am very tired today so I let sleeping snakes lie.

Gorgeous boy! I love a nice tiger, and he's a good one. :)

I think it might have been me that mentioned the hands-on thing, as I learned that the hard way with River. Once I have a more private lawn I'll have start working on allowing her to roam on her own. Although the neighbors tolerate the snakes now, they might not be so keen if a 7'+ snake were to get defensive on me....

Their eyes are definitely the neatest thing about them, whereas my boas only move their eyes with extreme disdain at the task and seem to almost be ignoring you, you can watch retics' eyes just zipping around everywhere, and River will not hesitate to watch me out of the corner of her eyes.

I don't know, my big boa definitely watch me but its a lot more subtle than my retic except the sunglow really watches me and turns her head all the time to check me out or probably just checking to see "the rat god" has dinner lol.

As it would turn out my boa was all over my every move yesterday. I ended up taking him out for a TV break in the evening for 30-40 minutes. He's gotten huge this last year and is still pretty active. i think he wants a mate.

Wallace is still a bit shy and is content staying in his cage. But I still socialize him just to keep him used to me.

Regarding letting Wisdom roam, this is because this individual would rather satisfy curiousity than hide. He generally doesn’t use hides in his cage either. The first time I let him have a roam was after months in quarantine and he wall pretty acclimated to me. I walked right beside him just in case but he would rather climb than get tangled up in the recliner. Now if he every reaches that ceiling fan, I’ll be sorry.

His eyes though.... after his first roam experience, he was sitting on his tub, in the quarantine room. He watched me for a moment and then, (you all wont believe me), his eyes sparkled like a light bulb went off in his snake brain and he voluntarily crawled up on my shoulders. He realized that was the way to get more fun and adventure. Ever since then he lets me pick him up without a fuss and when he is thinking, curious retic mode, even seems to like being patted. The other one, Maiden, is totally different she would disappear in a heart beat.
