    Getting my first bci!
I am so excited! My friend has a young male BCI that she was going to trade in, but felt reluctant to part with him because he's been with her collection for a while. I fell in love with him on the way to the shop and she agreed to hold him for me while I get the money! His name is Alduin and he's a Double Dose Pastel Dream Hypo Het Coral Albino!http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...ea9f508795.jpg
He's slim so I'm feeding rat pups to start. He's not in my possession yet but will be by my next paycheck. What cage size would he need as an adult?

On Habitat size I need to research this question I have a good Book I just bought for my Kindle last night Im sure this is all covered in the book I need to finish up around here and sit down and read it. Like you I recently have added Boas to my family I do know that they grow slow.

For a male, you want a 4x2. Also remember boas are not pythons. They have a much slower metabolism so can be overfed very easily. Also they aren't supposed be round like a python. They should be kind of square like a loaf of bread. And also boas are not as stretchy as pythons when it comes to food so staying on the small side is better than too big or you might end up with regurgitation. In BIs, its not so common as they are garbage disposals but in a BC, too large can be a problem.

Thanks! I new about the metabolism and shape :3 he's definitely a healthy booger and I think pups are perfect. I watched him take one last night and it was actually adorable.

Congrats SC, what a pretty fella! :) You're going to really enjoy him.

    I have my 5.5-6 foot adult in a 4x2x2,

My 7 footer is in a 6x2x(17 inch).

4x2 is generally going to be an ideal size for most adult boas. To add more square footage you can add a shelf too. Congrats on your upcoming new friend!

My smaller boas are in tubs on a rack/shelf setup. I'm not sure of the measurement. Maybe like under 2ft by 1ft approximately.

Agreed, 2x1 will be just fine.
My babies start in a shoe box rack then they get moved up to sweater box rack (32 qt about 24x18x6) then to the 4x2 cage/racks.

If you got the cash now, you can put him into a 4x2 now. I put Rosey in her Proline when she was about 16" and she was fine. If you don't have the cage yet, you can use a tub or 40g breeder.

It is often said that snakes will not feel safe/secure in large cages. I have heard that if you put a snake in a big cage, fill it with many things including several hides to help it feel more secure in an open area.

If you don't have the money for a big cage now, I would get a tub from Walmart or similar store and drill holes in the lid for ventilation. That's what I do. Like 7 bucks for a tub. Can't beat that. Then just use an under tank heater for heat. And keep it in a warm room.

    I like animal plastics cages.

    Haha! :D

I actually tried to pull the shed out, but he was laying on it. I would have had to move him to get it, then I would have lost the gangsta pose. It was a big wad next to him. I pulled and it stretched and tore.
