    VE 100 thermostats?
Anyone heard of this brand and know if they are any good?

I'm pretty sure I've seen quite a few pictures from members with a Vivarium Electronics thermostat in use, but it could be a different brand.

From what I have read so far they seem pretty good, that's why I wanted to see with the members here if they had any personal experience. Found someone selling that and 3 AP 41QT tube with heat for $175 so thought that wasn't to shabby lol. Just wanted to make sure it was good lol

They're on/off, not proportional, happy with ours.

I have several VE 100s that I use as back-ups for Herpstats. Excellent t-stats!

I much prefer the VE-200 because it's proportional, but the VE-100 is a great piece of gear :gj:

That seems to be the main gripe for VEs: on/off style and they don't have the same fail safe as the Herpstat that turns the unit off in case of malfunction. Other than that they tend to be pretty solid and reliable units.

You should be more specific....... Only the HobbyStat and the VE100. All the rest are optional.

I had a VE 200 fail in the on position. Rack was temp gunned 190F, and I lost 7 animals.

We ONLY use Herpstats for our collection.

The only complaint I have for my VE-100's is if I set them even a degree under 80F, they constantly sit there making clicking noises, and it's so annoying. Both of them do it, and have done this since I got them brand new. I've had them 2-2.5 years without any failures, so I'm happy with them.

I use the VE-200 and VE-300 and they work great. I passed on the 100, seemed like an economy model and I didn't want to use it.

Any off/on does that. You are hearing the relay close.

What were you using for heat? I have never been able to get Flex a Watt or THG that hot. WoW

It was a cserpents v18 rack. I believe it was flex watt, but I'm not 100 percent sure.

Hm I'll have to think then about this, I am also debating if I want to go tub route as well, I like a display tank since I only have the one ball, might be better doing the T8 route with herpstat...

Personally I would just get a Herpstat 1 or Herpstat 2 over a VE. I like the extras you get with Herpstats plus even the old ones can be sent in for firmware upgrades to "update" them with the new features. I am biased though as I use both a Herpstat 1 and 2 and am thinking of one of those Herpstat 6 come fall/winter time :) There is nothing wrong with VEs though as they have been around awhile too and if there was something glaringly wrong with them, the community would already be all over it.

I had my ve-200 failed in the on position as well. It was connected to my incubator and I lost three awesome clutches. I use a ve-300 x 2 for my racks and have never had a problem.
