Need help making sense of Acurite Therm/Hygrometer?

I have the classic AcuRite Therm/Hygrometer with the probe and for the most part it's very easy to use. However, I'm confused on which temperature I should be listening to when I click the button to show me the "inside" temperature, i.e. the cool side, since it gives me a minimum and maximum unlike where the probe is placed since that gives me a temp that is constantly changing due to the uth its on. Is there a way for it to just give me the ambient, or do I need to just assume the temp is somewhere inbetween the min and max? I worry only because it says my min is 75 and sometimes 70, while by max is always around 85-87. Lol I feel like I'm using it wrong, so anyone who at one point used or is currently using this thermometer please help.

I have no experience with this exact model, but I am assuming it probably has two probes .. one that is the one shown in your picture (that has no holes in it) and the other is probably slightly different looking (like it has a few vent holes in the probe) am I correct?

If you have the actual screen on one side and the probe on another side of the cage the "out" is the probe reading and the "in" is where the device is located. The min and max are of the temps from a certain span of time(not sure on the length). So you could put one on the hot side and one on the cool side and the temps should read accordingly.

I don't believe it does, it has the one that is visible in the picture and it probably monitors the humidity and 'indoor' temp with sensors inside it, at least that's my guess. But yeah, only one long probe, not quite sure what your talking about the vent holes?

Yes I know what they are, but the problem is the device doesn't read how it does in that picture, it only shows the time, "outdoor" temp, and the humidity. I have to press a button to show the "indoor" temp, in which it only gives me the min and max. Therefore I never really know what the temp is on the cool side.

Weird, you should be able to toggle through both options for the clock or the temp when you press the temp/clock button and should stay at the setting you choose.

I have the same model and I've found the temps I get from that are way off from my temperature gun

Try pressing the temp button in the top left . I just did on my unit
and its reading both temps and humidity . I have doubts on just how
accurate this unit is though

Can you post a picture of your actual unit? Most of the models like the one above can be set to show both temps and the humidity all at the same time. If your display is different, it would help us to see it, as you likely have a slightly different model. They make a bunch of different ones, and they change them a bit every so often.
As for the accuracy, it is a bit hit and miss with these, although usually the temps are really close. The humidity readings however tend to be around 5-10% off, and if the unit is over a year old the humidity part often fails completely or gets really off. At least that's been my experience with them. I still buy them though, but I like to double check them periodically with known accurate equipment.
