Other herps/snakes on your wishlist?
We get a BP morph wants thread every once in awhile.
What about any other species that you want or are planning to obtain (either snakes or any reptiles in general)?
I'm usually interested in the more unusual species that not everybody has... but I'd still like a basic GTP eventually, when I move into my own house. They're TOO gorgeous. And make for a great photography subject. ;;
-
Wish List:
a normal BP
a basic, easy going Red Tail type boa
Tarahumara boas
Dumeril
a pretty gopher or bull snake
I didn't like them at first, at all, but the Sumatran and Borneo Pythons have really grown on me.
Russian rat snake, or a cribo
Trans Pecos rat snake
Corn snake
(If money/space were no object - a big Burm)
-
My wish list has a few ball pythons too, but I'm doing research on other snakes and reptiles. :)
- Male Banana Pastel BP
- Mystic Potion BP
- Mexican Black Kingsnake (Not sure how I'm going to do with the 'musk' thing though)
- Albino Cornsnake
- Leopard tortoise
-
Re: Other herps/snakes on your wishlist?
For snakes: pastel sugar ball python, axanthic boa
Herps in general: bearded dragon and iguana
I think the bearded dragon is next, and I'm not yet sure if it will be our last since we already have 2 cats, a snake, and are planning on getting a dog.
ps, not sure how the exclamation mark got attached to my reply. Disregard :)
-
Re: Other herps/snakes on your wishlist?
Have a mojave bp. Next snake i'm interested in would be a high orange normal Brazilian Rainbow Boa. Absolutely stunning!
-
Bucket list includes:
Dominican Red Mountain Boa
Surinam BCC
High percentage SD golden child retic female
-
well if space and money were no problem...
Satanic Geckos
Gila Monster
Albino Red Tail Boa
Albino Purple Sunfire Reticulated Python
King Cobra
Tyrannosaurus Rex
:D
;)
-
Hogg Island Boa, Pacman Frog, SD Retic, Red Blood Python, Chameleon (preferably Jackson's), Crested Gecko, Bearded Dragon and more Leos! I'd also like to own a sulcata tortoise and some kind of monitor or tegu, but that's not in the cards for me anytime soon. As you can see, I've given this some serious thought lol. The next things I'll probably get are a crestie and pacman, as soon as find good breeders!
-
Black Throat Monitor, Roughneck Monitor, Argus Monitor, Solomon Island Skink, Beaded Lizard
-
I recently ordered a little group of 2015 Hemisphaeriodon. I've wanted to work with these for some time now but whenever one would pop up I was either unprepared or they looked like crap. Really excited and I plan on keeping them communally - at least until they start displaying some sexual dimorphism, then I'll pull extra males.
-
Re: Other herps/snakes on your wishlist?
The next snake I get will most likely be an Amazon Tree Boa. With the rack being completed soon my BPs will be moving into that which means I'll have no critters in my office. I work from home. My wife convinced me to move them out of here because I might freak out a client, but I have to have SOMETHING in here to look at. ATB seems a good choice.
I would not mind some Kenyan Sand Boas down the road either. Really cool snake.

Re: Other herps/snakes on your wishlist?
Honestly, despite their mild venom, I love Asian vine snakes. I got the opportunity to see a pair in person this year after years of admiring them in photographs. Something about the way they move and look really intrigues me. So you'd better believe that the day I find a CB Asian vine snake at a show, I'm going to pounce on that offer!
Oh, and ground boas, BRB's, African house snakes, and woma pythons are all on my wishlist for the future, too.

Re: Other herps/snakes on your wishlist?
As quiet as its kept, due to the Federal Protection, I would love to have a 2.2 group of San Francisco garters (T.S. TETRATENIA). Also would like to own a 1.1 pair of eastern indigo snakes ( Drymarchon couperi). Unfortunately they are state and federally threatened but can be obtained with proper licensing. :)

Tom Keogan is the guy to talk to about bismarck pythons - when you're ready for some.
-
I forgot to mention the Angolan Python.
Also, no one seems to keep these, but what a kool little snake: the Cereberus rynchops, the dog-faced water snake. Comes with that cute-as-pie Anaconda head, but in a manageable size.
-
I already got one of my dream snakes. My little brazilian rainbow boa is pretty cool. I'd like a Mexican Black Kingsnake but I'm nervous about the musking and random biting, aka 'tasting'.
I really, really want a tortoise but I'm on overload right now. I've got an albino and yellowbelly bp, a brb, a german giant hypo beardie, a dog and two cats!
As for Bp's, I want a BEL and I really want a pied!

Jealous!!! I forgot to put them on my list! I have never seen these guys in person, but would love to get my hands on a pair. I have been thinking once I get my Blueys in their new cages I might have to fill their old cages with a pair of the pinks! Can't wait to see some pictures!
-
I see that on my first post I neglected to add any snakes, I have been 100% lizard focused for a while...that being said:
-Bull Snake
-Woma
-Savu
-Another Childrens

Frosty, beautiful blood!!
I would add Boelen's Python to the wishlist, but they seem rare as heck. I'm basically looking for some kind of dark-colored python/boa with awesome iridescence.
I also like saturated jungle carpets with more spotting pattern rather than stripes. This one looks awesome.

Re: Other herps/snakes on your wishlist?
My BP wish list is obscene so I'll focus on other species.
Argentine black and white tegu
BCI/BCC - I like BCC colors a lot more, but have some concerns about their size since I'd be caring for it on my own. (I do know not to overfeed, etc.) So I may "settle" for an awesome BCI instead.
GTP
Cave-dwelling ratsnake

Great thread! Soooo many snakes I want lol.
I'll leave off the few BP morphs I want and just do other species also.
Some locality boas: BCLs (would like a breeding pair) and BCI Nicaraguans (morphs, hypo and T+), Also a BCC (probably a suri). Some nice morph BCIs would be great too (lipstick link junglow is top on my wish list)
Nice bright jungle carpet
T+ blood python
Goldeneye blood python
ultrabreit short tail
More blue tongue skinks (Northerns, morphs, and IJ)
A well-mannered male SD retic (lavender albino, sunfire maybe)
If being *hot* wasn't an issue, I'd LOVE a Gaboon or rhino viper, but as it is, I never see myself owning hots.
-
Make that a black phase white lipped python too... but it won't happen until in at least a year when I move into my own house. (currently in an apartment with a roommate)
But their iridescence is GORGEOUS as well, oh my goodness.
-
Green Tree Python
Tanimbar Amethystine Python
Colombian Boa
Emerald Tree Boa
Brazilian Rainbow Boa
Savannah Monitor
and if space/money wasn't an issue an Albino Reticulated Python
-
I'm good for snakes, with a normal BP and a snow corn snake. What I'd like to have is a bunch of frog tanks. I kept tree frogs years ago, and I'd like to get more into them. Red eyed tree frogs, in particular. Would also like to have a tank with poison dart frogs.
-

Cross the ATB off the list. I put one on hold yesterday at a price I couldn't pass up. Nice little, for now, Halloween phase male. Best part is he isn't too nippy. I was able to take hime out and handle him and he only struck half heartily at my free hand once.

But their iridescence is GORGEOUS as well, oh my goodness.
Xenopeltidae - the Sunbeam may have the most iridescence. May not be the best for handling, however, they musk strongly.
Someone here keep one. They recently posted about it.
I'm not sure about the daytime iridescence of the "rainbow python," the Oenpelli, but it shines silver at night. Very protected, however. Not currently available.
-
Melanistic bts
T+ and leopard boas
Sungazer because they look like little dragons
gtp
various colubrids
essentially, one day I'd like my own little reptile world a little at a time

I googled them, and wow that is iridescence right there. O: I like python head shapes though, but these guys are BEAUTIFUL.
My Dumeril's also has mild iridescence going on that shows up in an odd way in photos. I just took the photo last night.
https://40.media.tumblr.com/28e3a121...2zso2_1280.jpg
Boelen's pythons though... also shiny, matte black with the craziest looking iridescence for their color.
-
Gorgeous photo!!!
I didn't know the Dumerils did that. Our local pet store has one...
As for the Boelen, if I recall correctly, there is an interview on Herp Radio Network (Herp Nation Radio Network??) that mentions them. It was the episode on Repti-Links, and if memory serves, the interviewer breeds them. Might be worth looking up. There is also a Boelen forum that, at a glance at least, seems to be current. (I was very distracted by the Boelen for a few days a couple of months ago.)
-
A c.b. Sunbeam snake is the only snake on my wishlist rn! (: :snake:
-
SNAKES:
Well, the realistic wishlist looks something like this: Mexican Black King, Jungle Jag Carpet, Green Tree Python
The years from now, maybe (never if I stay in MA) wishlist: Yellow Anaconda, Gaboon Viper, Blue Eyelash Viper. Boomslang
OTHERS:
Maybe after I finish my snake wishlist: Blue Tongue Skink, Chinese Water Dragon, Mexican Alligator Lizard, Green Tree Frog, Dart Frogs, maybe a tortoise or turtle of some sort...
Maybe if the stars align properly: Dwarf Caiman
-
Currently wanting a Kenyan Sand Boa, and (eventually) a Brazilian Rainbow Boa or a Red Tail Boa.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
0.1 Painted Turtle, 1.1 Dogs, 0.3 Cats, 0.0.1 Me
-
Blood Pythons
Bay of LA Rosy Boas
Dumeril's Boa
Bloodred, Hypo, Albino, Anery, Snow, and Fire Cornsnakes
Red Phase and Tiger Western Hogs
Burmese Pythons
Retics
and of course Mojave, Fire, and Pinstripe BPs, just to name a few.
These are just the snakes that are widely available and within my budget. If money were no object the list would probably be endless.
-
Aside from more ball pythons, I'd really love to get a Russian rat snake! Others I have considered are western hognoses or sand boas.
Herps in general if I could;
Chinese water dragon
Dwarf caimen
Blue tongue skink
that being said I think I'd be perfectly happy with just ball pythons and a russian rat snake as far as herps go but who knows! :p
-
I've been wanting a GTP {sorong} a blood python black or albino, a brazilian rainbow boa or keltic boa which i can't afford:D. And that idea on a blue tegu is been growing in my mind. but mostly the green tree python.
