cheating on BPs

I have been admiring brazillian rainbow boas for a few days and yesterday I actually contacted David Collins at rainbows r us. He was very helpful with all my questions and after speaking with him I told him I'd put a deposit on one as long as my wife was cool with it.

when I got home I asked my wife if it was ok if I got a BRB and she actually was disappointed because she was going to order me one for valentines day.i guess I ruined the surprise:P

my wife then ordered one for me and as soon as the weather warms up, he will be on the way! I love my wife, she is so cool:)

Congrats! She must know you well haha! When are you expecting to have it, we expect pics :P

We agreed to wait until the nighttime low temps are over 40 degrees for a few days at the beginning of the week. Right now it is getting down in the high 20s so it may be a few weeks if I get lucky.

Fair enough, I hope it warms up a bit for you then :) Have you seen any photos of the snake you are getting or is your wife keeping that a secret?

I actually had allready picked the one I wanted. There are pics of him on their site. I'd link to it but it may be against forum rules? Not sure...

Beautiful snake! I am new to owning snakes and haven't seen one of these before! How big will he grow to?

5-6 feet usually.
google brazillian rainbow boa pictures and there are a ton of great pics showing off their iridescence. Beautiful snakes

They look amazing! *sigh* Looks like I'm going to end up with one of these at some point ;) My Ball, A Jaguar Carpet and one of these and I will be done!... Maybe!

I cheated on my colubrids with BPs and can't wait to get a carpet either. I handled a couple carpets, one being very young. She bit me 6 times and went after my face 2ice. I wanted to take her home but didn't have the money at the time. It was love at first bite. ;)

Our original plan was to breed BPs because my 9 yr old daughter has become very interested in genetics and morphs. Not really for profit, just fun and making different colored snakes:D

now it seems like we can't stop buying all kinds of different animals.

reptile hoarders? May be an idea for a tv show...

Have you managed to breed any Balls yet? That is going to be a goal of mine!

We just bought our first BP at Christmas (firefly male). Since then my daughter bought a fire female, my wife bought a bearded dragon, and now the rainbow boa. We have plans to breed our two bps when they mature so it will still be awhile. My daughter is really hoping for a black eyed Lucy.

we have talked about getting a pied, cinnamon butter, and an adult pair so we can speed up the breeding. Who knows what next? Actually, about to order a sugar glider for my wife. She fell in love with them at repticon. I know, too many pets, lol:D

I tried being a grown up but lost it over this line. :D

I cheated on my corn snakes with BPs...and ended up selling my corns because I liked my balls better.

He's gorgeous, by the way! I plan on getting one of everything when I get a bigger reptile space ;)

Don't feel bad... I've been lusting after a RTB (BCI or BCA) for a while now.. finally told my husband and he OK'd me getting one.. It's not super fun having a non-herper spouse, but I guess he helps keep my addiction in check.

I *think* I'd be happy with a small rack of ball, a rack of KSBs, a couple RTBs, a carpet, and a BRB down the line... But who knows.

Craigaria- Great looking snake btw! I was on the fence between a BRB or a RTB for my next snake.. The higher humidity required for a BRB is what made me settle for a RTB.. But someday I'll get my BRB too. You're lucky.. my husband will buy me petstore giftcards, or "parts" of a snake setup for birthdays, etc... But he's told me he'll never buy me an animal... guess he's afraid I wouldn't like what he picked out *shrug*

BTW, did you handle the sugar gliders at the Atlanta repticon? I saw them there last summer but passed on holding one.. Thought i'd get hooked too.

My wife and daughter handled it and they had to have one. Supposed to pick it up tomorrow, but I have a feeling the roads are going to be iced over pretty bad.

Probably so.. School cancelled here today and probably late start tomorrow due to icey conditions.

I wouldn't think so... You just have to tote them around in a "bonding pouch" for a few weeks... Don't know if this is just with the small babies though or if it applies to all. I do know they're nocturnal. Everyone that I know that's had one has liked it.

I have enough to deal with already with my rats.. Otherwise I'd look into one myself ;) and if I wasn't allergic to hay, I'd definitely get a chinchilla.

I'm going to let my wife handle the glider. She can take it to work with her:D

Finally going to have warm weather to ship. Can't wait for the delivery. Hoping for middle of the week!

A+++ I decided to let the snake settle in before pictures. I'll be sure to post some in a few days, though. As far as temperament, he seemed very curious and settled down quickly in my hand. I have named him Trip
