Re: How cold are you?
It's awful!!!! I went out to feed my horse yesterday in -42 windchill! The steam from my breath froze my scarf and coated my sunglasses with ice!

About the same here in Flint, MI. Went out a little while ago and my hands got numb even with Thinsulate gloves on! I feel bad for anyone who has to work outside in this. Maybe time to come down with a cold, lol!

Re: How cold are you?
We were at the meeting point here, -40℃ and ℉. Warmed up to -30℃ today though thank goodness.

-40 here right now. I turned the heat on in my car and it was blowing ice at me. I got a little frostbite on my cheeks yesterday :(
-
Another reason I love SoCal today is a "cold" day with a high of 67 degrees :D

Agreed, I guess my plans to move south are gonna have to go more south. Hope the carribbean and a boat load of rum will be good enough to stay the cold of Georgia and Florida in "The North". ;)

Canadia?
Do we have anyone from Antarctica who can beat this? ;)
-
Um 37F. *sheepish* And I think that's cold. I'm enjoying the use of tubs for my snakes in my room (meaning it gets to be heated to my optimal temp of high 70s). Sitting here in PJ shorts and tanktop.
-
It's 6°F here just across the river from you, OP. Granted now it's 12:30 in the afternoon  Only -13°F with wind chill...
-
57 degrees...it's chilly to me . I want the 80's to come back!
-
We were -22 below last night with windchills in the -40's but today it's warmed up to a nice and toasty -1 with only -15 windchill. If you think I'm kidding about the 'nice and toasty' part then you really need to experience sub zero weather. When the temps are suddenly 20-30 degrees warmer it really DOES feel nice even though it's still really cold out.

Re: How cold are you?
Negative 17°F (windchill included).
Brrrrr
Sent from a happy snake owner.

Re: How cold are you?

I love this state lol.

I just checked the weather report for McMurdo station in Antarctica, they have a high of 35 F today, as in 3 degrees above freezing. So I think you win, or lose I guess, depending on how you look at it. ;)
-
Re: How cold are you?
I'm not even in those charts! Currently my phone is saying 55, but I think it might be warmer than that. Lol

Pretty sad when it's colder in warm places than in Antarctica. Though it is summer in the southern hemisphere. Do they have a station like that in the arctic? My google and weatherchannel searches are producing nothing. /googlesearchfail

Here is a little clip from CNN to explain the 'polar Vortex' a little bit. Just a little something to explain WHY it's been so cold.

It was -5 degrees F where I live at in South Carolina last night... Our door was frozen shut.. we had to walk around the house to the front door to get in. I'm not sure what the exact temp is currently, but its supposed to be the same tonight as last night.

45 and pouring down rain. ;)

11 degrees F here in mid-Maryland. :( It was a high of 12 F, but today was the day I was planning to go out and get a new car (I've been waiting almost 2 years for this moment) so I sucked it up and put on a sweater and 2 coats. :P I'm a wuss when it comes to cold temperatures though. under 70 degrees and I start shivering, haha.
I got my car though. :)
-
it so cold were my wife works they had ice on the inside of the front doors tonight.
-
Also in Maryland. It was 9 degrees and windy when I tried to start my car today at 1pm. Had to be jump started by maintenance guys working in my apartment building but I still didn't make my doctor's appointment. :/
I seem to have forgotten to buy a winter coat and I really only have a very large sweater coat, so I wore that with a fleece jacket and a sweater underneath. Then I had sweatpants, knee socks and leg warmers. I hate layers, but I wasn't cold. My car obviously thought differently.

You are like 15 minutes away from me! I used to live in Ellicott City too, I was right up the road from Main Street. :)
My dad made fun of me because every time we went outside I shivered so bad. I didn't realize it was going to be this cold while I was staying at my bf's house, so all I brought for pants were leggings!! :(

Antarctica has an actual continent under the ice cap so there's a lot more geographically fixed stuff to study (sub glacial lakes, volcanism, meteorite collecting etc.), but since the arctic is floating ice there aren't any permanent stations that I'm aware of. Probably the closest are Nome, AK or Archangelsk, RU which hit 32 and 28 respectively today. So you still win, or lose, still not sure which ;).

Re: How cold are you?
6 degrees and -15 degree windchill in Massachusetts. Reptile room had to be turned up a bit today since the cold makes this house get a draft.

It's been in the 70's over here
Our weather has been perfect, I can't believe it's so cold everywhere else.

I can't really complain too much about the weather in Michigan right now. We get some days like this every winter. These weren't even record lows or anything. I think we should all move to San Diego or Phoenix!!
-
Re: How cold are you?
I was working on north jersey along the Hudson River yesterday, radio said windchill of -25 and I was outside all day. And today it says 3 and I'm outside all day long again.

Was looking to see where the really cold temps were cause I'm freezing my tookus off and figured a lot of people would be like "2 degrees? That's child's play, try -20 then come talk to me." ;-)
