Animal Plastics Economy Rack

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and this is my first post. I ordered an Economy Rack from AP about 10 weeks ago and it just arrived today. The waiting is not my concern, as from what I gather, that is pretty normal. My issue is that all that came in the package, after all the waiting and excitement, is five shelves and a kick guard. Seriously? No instructions, not braces for the shelves, no screws, no heat tape, no nothing. I sent them an email stating the issue, but has anyone else had this issue? And if so, were they at least punctual and reasonable about fixing the situation?

Just frustrating to drop money, wait that long, and not even get what I ordered.:weirdface

Call customer service, the lady that answers the phone is very helpful and will get you taken care of. Keep your head up !!

Yeah, I would just call. She always answers the phone, and is very helpful.

Likely there are supposed to be two boxes. With shipping craziness right now (Holidays), one may have not been delivered.

Call Ali, and she can look in to it.

I emailed Ali and she got right back to me. She checked into it and it turns out there was in fact supposed to be two boxes, and the other was separated in transit. It should be in tomorrow and she even gave me the tracking info for it. All I have to say about AP, is you may have to wait, but they have terrific customer service! I ordered T20's, and mine are 10 weeks out. Boo.

Glad I found this link! Was thinking of building my own snake racks, but I can get some of the economy racks for similar price and less work. Thanks, guys!

Sounds like you jumped the gun with the complaint festival.

You have to give a company a chance to fix the issue before you post like this. It sheds a negative light on the company for an issue that has nothing to do with them.

Animal Plastics has fantastic customer service.

You're right, they do, and I did. I did not expect them by any means to get back to me so quickly and was looking to see if any experienced customers had any ideas as to what might be going on. I think that all the praise for the company I came across in shopping for a rack will outweigh my previous concerns. They truly do their best to help you out, and are a great operation!

Hey OP, I actually think you DIDN'T jump the gun. The only help you received was in part due to poor communication on their part - did they ever tell you there would be two boxes? Was the ship time what they quoted? Did they notify you when the product shipped and how many boxes were int he shipment?

If they had simply accurately stated the ship time, forwarded you the shipment tracking info, etc. a lot of anxiety could have been avoided.

10 weeks plus to receive one of two boxes. Let me guess, they collected your money 10 weeks ago - correct?

Ali is very nice and AP makes a fine product, but every one of my experiences with them has consisted of 10 to 14 weeks (or more) of wait and then one of the boxes arriving later than the other. Yes folks, the OPs experience is not unique. When ordering from FB or ARS, the shipments come in complete and the turn around times are quicker. Apples to oranges you say? Well I've also ordered from Barr's, PMHerps and RBI and have not had the repeated issues I've had with AP.

On the last cage I ordered - an arboreal one - I was quoted a wait of 8 weeks. At 10 weeks I called Ali and asked what was up with the wait. I recieved a very nice apology and told it would be shipped the following week. The following week - nothing, so I called again. Long story short - 8 weeks turned out to be 14 weeks and then I recieved the first box and had to wait three additional days for the second. Asinine.

Some of the panels had light damage - and again, Ali was very responsive. However, after plunking down my money almost 15 weeks earlier I was not going to wait another three to four weeks for replacement panels. Ali was nice enough to refund the shipping costs..........but still..........

Customer service only goes so far. When we are required to plunk down hundreds of dollars, wait several months and then deal with staggered shipments, apologies don't erase those inconveniences. We call der Boaphile out on his wait times and rightly so - his occasional lack of communication. I guess if we have a very understanding young lady on the other end, all those problems become more tolerable?

Guys, I just don't agree. Again, Ali is super sweet, the product is nice - but not sweet and nice enough for me to deal with the headaches.

She did tell me that they would more than likely ship my T20's separate. Because maybe the fed ex driver would be less likely to drop or damage them if he didn't have a lot to unload. That part seems silly to me. I'd rather be done at once. Not two on two different days. But I guess that's just me.

That's how my last order for my T8 was. I called after six weeks and they apologized for the delay and told me they'd be shipping out within the week. Finally got mine almost two months later and of course the glass wasn't with it so it came two days later. I'm hesitant to order from them again. They're great when an issue arrises, but if they say quick ship on an item almost two months isn't acceptable. I didn't realize the glass doors would be missing, and I had ordered a snake and had the breeder hold her for weeks waiting on them. When I saw the box was coming the next day I had the breeder go ahead and ship her out to me. So I ended up with all all set up T8 without the glass doors. Ended up having to put her in a tub, run the heat panel probe through the tub and have her inside the enclosure that way for a day.

Skip is not wrong. I am overall satisfied with the racks and end result, but the lag time is a little much. Then again, the price is right for the quality, so I will probably continue to experience the wait and get AP racks.

I probably wouldn't order something as large and heavy as a rack around the holidays though, since a huge amount of the delivery workers are temps working long hours and dealing with a high volume of packages.

Hey - what kind of rack is that 3-tub rack shown in the video? I'm on the animal plastics website and cannot find the 3-tier rack. Only the 7-tier. I'd like to get a 3-tier so I can have 3 balls instead of just one in the aquarium.
