That's interesting, but what I REALLY want to know is, what's up with your substrate? It looks soaked.

I had my black pastel, lay next to a rat pup when I first tried to make the switch from mice to rats..he layed next to it for like 20 mins after staring at it for well over an hour. The first 90 mins was him staring at it,the last 20-30 was cuddling then all I remember hearing was squeezing, since then any rat pup I put in,is taken out within a couple minutes now

That honestly is exactly what my snake does. They have a stand off for what seems like forever then you check on him a few minutes later and they're cuddling. I don't understand, I've tried everything.

Yeah it's weird man,my one snake that I'm talking bout is very shy and weird when it comes to eating. Sometimes he wll take the rat pup as soon as he comes put of his hide, other they have a stand off for what does seem way long.. I usually turn my day bulb off and my night bulb on,then he comes out and does his thing, very shy.

but my ghost, forget about it. As soon as a rat is dropped in,he pops his head out immediately, within seconds. At times he won't even get out of his hide to strike. He will be in his hide with his head and strike and knock the hide put of the way or on top of him or sideways,lol..he has no patience when it comes to food,he's a little pig.

This is my ghost about an hour ago. The rat walked by the entrance and he wasn't even out and struck, knocked the hide side ways and on top of him and he was buried in the Eco earth...so I removed the hide, pull the rat by the tail to get it out from the dirt which it was buried in with Kocurs head.. As soon as he was done eating,I put the hide right back on top of him.

What most people say here is husbandry at times, depending on the snakes age can be an issue..I was told that babies should be pretty much eating steady, but heard when they hit a certain weight, them going off feed can happen and be normal..how big is he and how much does he way?

i wouldn't worry,I'm sure he is fine. Just make sure all your temps are right.humidity is right etc...make sure he feels secure etc...

Babies usually eat like pigs unless something's wrong with their husbandry. What's the cage like? ( <-- Post a pic) Usually problems are encountered with tanks since it's hard to maintain humidity, heat, and security.

Maybe try feeding him at night with the night time bulb on..my one guy is shy. I fed both mine today. The one in the pic eats whatever whenever. My other guy,I have to turn the lights off and went and got a black light night bulb,it cause it keeps the tank dark and he seems to like that ore the red light bulb..I put a rat pup in this afternoon, day bulb on,rat pup was in there 30 mins,I know he knew but didn't come out. Waited again til it got dark, turned down lights in living room and turned on the night bulb put pup back in,10 mins he still didn't come out I watched the rat pup walk in his warm hide where he was. As soon as he walked in that hide,I heard squeaking. I just checked him out and has a full belly :). So your guy may be shy.

This makes sense being that they're nocturnal, but I hate to say this, I've tried this numerous times :,(

Hey man,all I can think is that your husbandry may be off somewhere or he is just gonna bust your chops his whole life and torture you like this.....as long as he is healthy, that's what counts..

I got my scale $15 shipped from eBay. It's an accutek, weighs in gas and kgs and lbs and weighs up to 50Lbs

That's what I was thinking, in the wild they can survive off of 3 meals a year so I should probably not be so worried haha. But thanks for the help man, I got a scale from walmart for like 18 bucks.

Your set up is gorgeous! I have a young BP who eats as and when she pleases, my husbandry was spot on and the prey was heated correctly (I feed F/T) and sometimes she wouldn't even poke her head out!

Each time she has eaten it's also been in a different way so I can't even work out how she likes to feed! Just keep offering as usual and hopefully he breaks his fast for you soon!

Pretty sure I was wearing a 7 at your age, and they might have been too big.

The brain thing is ridiculously effective. I don't know why, but it's almost certain to induce a strike. Works great for switching from mice to rats or from live to F/T. A little blood works too, just not quite as well.

Just curious man, your guy in the pics is out and with day time lights, which I find a bit weird ..my guys are never put during the day, never and if they are, there is a problem.

so do you have a hot spot? I know you have bulbs, but is it possible that's why he is out cause he is trying to find somewhere to stay hot...cause even though I have a heat lamp I still have a UTH to time him a hot spot. Maybe he is stressed trying to get comfy.

That's what people usually say too, the cool side at the lowest is 75, and I've been told to not worry if that's the lowest cause during the day it's at like 80-83

Try adding a UTH and see how it goes...that may help, cause it will give him a spot to hide on the regular..dude,my guys are never out during the day, never. My ghost only two times and both times it was cause he pooped and pissed in his hide and didn't want to go back in...I'd add a UTH set it at about 88-90 ,that's where I'm at and my guys seem very happy

Even though u have a hot side and cool side the hide doesn't stay the temp of the hot side, cause the hide supplies shade and shade supply's coolness, which is why I use a UTh it balances everything out,but that's me atleast.

I suppose then, since you're all so mighty and smart that I'm sure you must agree with the scientifically supported standard that BP's live better in tubs, and when left alone most of the time, as opposed to keeping it in a glass terrarium and forced to exercise every day.
