My BPs skin is very loose. Need help
He looks like he is about to shed. But, I'm not sure.

He's DEFINITELY about to shed. Keep humidity up around 70%, and let him do his thing. It's generally stressful for them to be handled during this process.

So he is healthy? How long do you think it will take for it to be done?

My snake takes anywhere from a couple of days, or maybe 5 or 6...it really depends on how the humidity is. I like to use a shedding spray for mine, can be picked up at Petsmart or some place along those lines, really seems to help mine shed, just personal preference.

When snakes shed, there eyes go blue. Your snakes eyes were blue in the last picture, so no worries. Keep the humidity up, and she/He'll be fine :)

I'm not able to say that with certainty from the pictures, and I'm not an expert by any means. We would need to know your detailed setup for him to see if his conditions are ideal.

I just put the moss in to try and put the humidity up. I use Aspen as bedding the humidity is normally in 40-50%

Does he have fresh water in a bowl as well?

What do you cover your tank with? I like to keep my humidity higher, around 60-70%. My water bowl is situated over the UTH. I use aluminum foil to cover part of the tank, and on the cool side, I use a damp towel to cover the tank. I leave a small area open for air circulation.

I change the water almost everyday. I'll try to do that right now. Humidity has always been a straggle to get right lol

If the top is a screen top left open, it will be hard. Try and model yours like I described and see if it helps.

Something like this? I put aluminum on the cool side just to show you if that is how is should look. I need towel. Is it a paper towel or a real towel and is the air circulation good? I switch from day and night cycle would I need to change the towel and aluminum wheniI change the lights?

    Something like that.

1.) Make the open area where you put the heat lamp. You don't want that sitting on top of the aluminum foil.

2.) If you have tape to secure the foil, use that. But, only on the outside of the tank.

3.) Damp towel on one side. I dampen my towel a few times a day with a spray bottle.

Those 3 things along with putting the water bowl over the UTH should help raise your humidity.

I cut a hole in the aluminum and put the heat lamp into it. I am gonna do the same with the towel.

You want the towel directly over the screen, though. Just post a picture when you're finished.

    Good luck!

Just realized that putting a towel near the heat lamps is kinda a fire hazard xD. Would it be ok if I used aluminum on both sides?

    Yea, that would be fine.

Or, just use the towel on the opposite side of the heat lamp, and aluminum on the side where the lamp is.

Man, I leave my snake alone. He looks almost dead. It takes him a good week to shed. And what a mess in the water bowl- skin and a massive dump!

    And it reeks too!

The humidity is almost at 60% and I only put it in 10 mins ago. Is the vent too small? It is a 20 gallon tank

That's great!! Don't forget to leave a bit open at the top to allow for air flow.

I'm glad you got it done!

Ok, I see it now. Maybe make it a bit bigger. Seems a bit small for a 20gal. Other than that, it looks great!

Well, it's not something I've seen before, but I've heard of.

Maybe a warm soak would help a bit.

I think it has to do with his humidity being in the 30-40% before I got the aluminum thing set up

That's probably the case. That's very low for a bp. He should shed much better now, though, since you have fixed up his tank!

Just dipped him in warm water. He didn't like it much. But, I can see a big improvement in his scales.

He may be dehydrated. A good soak could do him well. I just fill my tub up a bit for my beardie. It would work the same with your snake. Just give him a bit of time to relax in it, and watch him closely.

alright I gave him a good soak and he hopefully will get a good shed in a couple of days. He doesn't have loose skin anymore which is good. So, I'll be only checking up on him till he sheds. His feeding day is Sunday. Should I try and feed him?

My girl eats during her shed, so you can definitely try.

Some eat, some don't. If he doesn't take it, just wait til his next scheduled feeding time.

Mine seems to love to eat. I put f/t hopper in his feeding bin and not even 5 seconds he grabs it. I'm going to a reptile expo in New Jersey. So, I'm gonna pick up a water bowl because the humidity during the day is kinda low because of the water bowl being on the night light.

They sell cheap plastic bowls in the pet section at Wal Mart here. I think they're only $2-3.

    That's not bad.

Are you turning the lamp off at night? As in a temp drop?

The entire tank? Do you have an under tank heater as well?

Ball pythons don't need a night temp drop.

No I don't. I put the thermometer in the middle so it should be how the entire tank is. The temperature seems to be very well for him because I have had him for a month now and he hasn't missed a feeding yet.

The warm side should be about 88-90. The cool side around 78-80.

These don't have to be exact, but ballpark.

A UTH would help with this tremendously. They're pretty cheap on Amazon.
