Sooo..... I went to an expo today and something followed me home.
Went to the new Lansing expo today. It was pretty small, but very clean and there were some very nice people and vendors there. I sincerely hope this expo takes off and continues to grow in a good way. I will certainly go back!
Annnnnd of course, something just HAD to come home with me! Funny story actually - we'd been there for almost 2 hours and had seen everything (we thought) and met a few faces and chatted so we were heading out when we caught my good friend, Dave, and gave him and his family our raffle tickets. He asked me if I'd seen the amazing Hypo Leopard over at one of the tables and I was like "WHAT??? NO!!" So I hustled over to the table I'd missed. Wow that was a stunning Hypo Leopard!
And guess what was in the box next to him? An absolutely gorgeous female Hypo het Leo with red eyes and lovely tail and also 66% het albino! OMG. She was already marked at a steal and she was one of the seller's holdbacks for obvious reasons. I had bought a cartful of f/t rats so I didn't have much cash left, but I was head over heals in love and could not resist making an offer. I was very apologetic and explained how much I loved her but I only had about half his asking price in cash with me and I meant absolutely no offense, but.... He took it!!! What a wonderful guy! This was Bobby at BBC Exotics and he was so amazing to work with! Loves his snakes and loves to see them go to people who really care. I'd buy from him again in a heartbeat and this baby is perfect in every way. Breeders like this really help support the hobby. I don't mean that everyone should give their snakes away or that Bobby or anyone else should do this every time - but once in a while, when the right buyer comes along, it is ok to make a spectacular deal. I will remember the favor and pay it forward myself one day.
So here she is - my new 2013 Hypo 100% het Leopard 66% het Albino BCI, Pheonix.....
Sorry for the really crappy cell phone pics, but I didn't want to do more until after she's settled in.

She is very curious and polite - just wants to say HI to the camera.

And this pic, although very grainy, actually shows off her colors the best. She is very red and I LOVE the tail pattern.

Enjoy and thanks for looking!! :D

Very cute, congrats! I don't know anything about the Leopard gene other than the visuals are pretty neat: what locality is the Leopard morph?

The Leopard morph derives from Sonoran Desert boas. Any BCI that carries the Leopard gene has some Sonoran in there somewhere. But Leopards are so bred-for now that a lot of the Sonoran has been bred out. The Leopard gene is simple recessive so it's easy to do. I would say that all of my own Leopards and het Leopards are Colombian x Sonoran crosses (putting Colombian first as it is likely the higher percentage).
Actually, I like the HET leopards even better than the visuals. A lot of breeders agree with me too. The visuals are outstanding, but the hets are very special. Hets are almost always easy to pick out. There are very distinguishing markers that make the hets really really pretty. Here are my male and my other female so you can see what I mean. They are just stunning Normals het for Leopard.......

Of this future trio, ALL of them are also het Albino!! I will be able to make Leopards, Albino Leopards, Hypo Leopards, and even Sunglow Leopards! :gj:

I'm so jealous, what an absolutely breathtaking girl. :D

Very nice Evenstar, you and your boas :P

What an awesome find!! I'm so jealous right now!

I was there too. I went early. Was Bobby the one who had the gorgeous anery longicauda? I was SO tempted to buy him. I brought my wife to restrain me though, LOL! It was a small, but nice show. I hope it does take off. I've known Evan for a long time, if anyone can make it work, he can. I love your Hypo Leopard!

Yes - Bobby had that gorgeous anery BCL!! I did not look at him too long or I might've broken down and snagged my credit card.... :D
Bobby had the best boas that I saw there (don't know HOW I missed his table the first go-round). That anery BCL was just amazing, then the Hypo Leopard plus there were some other leos and bloods too. Got to see a couple of things on his table I've only seen pictures of. I hope he makes it to Tinley - that's my next show and I'll have more money! LoL.... :P

Re: Sooo..... I went to an expo today and something followed me home.
Holy Buckets!! Would ya look at that!! OK, sooooo,, I think it's safe to say the restraining order needs to include
"Miss Kali is not allowed to think about, attend, or be within 100 feet of any reptile expo" LOL!
I love the new snake and getting to see another glimpse of Zep didn't hurt the thread either.
I think just to make numbers even and solid you might as well go to 20 snakes. This is numero 18 ??
Congrats!
I smiled when I saw the thread and that it was you posting it.
I thought to myself, Ooooh boooy what did she do now lol!

Actually, I was wrong. I had 17 BEFORE those 3 Cherry line pastels came in. So I am, in fact, up to 21..........
Congrats!

** You know you have a lot of snakes when you loose count of how many you actually have......
Hello, my name is Kali and I have 21 snakes. Welcome to Boas Anonymous.

The only reason I haven't done a full thread with all my boas is 'cause I don't have a good camera. Even my pics on iHerp aren't up-to-date. I just have baby pictures! I am saving up for a Nikon 3100D. I want to go with a good DSLR, but something that's easy to use as photography is not my forte. But I don't want to waste $200 on a "cheap" point-and-shoot in the meantime if it's not what I want. I guess I need to stop spending money on SNAKES. Sooo.... no good pictures of my babies. :tears:
On the other hand... DooLittle!! If you come take pics of my kids, I'll post them up!!!
