The Leopard morph derives from Sonoran Desert boas. Any BCI that carries the Leopard gene has some Sonoran in there somewhere. But Leopards are so bred-for now that a lot of the Sonoran has been bred out. The Leopard gene is simple recessive so it's easy to do. I would say that all of my own Leopards and het Leopards are Colombian x Sonoran crosses (putting Colombian first as it is likely the higher percentage).

Actually, I like the HET leopards even better than the visuals. A lot of breeders agree with me too. The visuals are outstanding, but the hets are very special. Hets are almost always easy to pick out. There are very distinguishing markers that make the hets really really pretty. Here are my male and my other female so you can see what I mean. They are just stunning Normals het for Leopard.......

    Zeppelin

    And Savannah

Of this future trio, ALL of them are also het Albino!! I will be able to make Leopards, Albino Leopards, Hypo Leopards, and even Sunglow Leopards!
