thoughts on 3 possible pick ups- fire pin, enchi yb, vanilla cream
I was wondering if you guys can help me decide which of these girls are worth picking up. The enchi yb is 400 grams and priced at $950. The fire pin pos het orange ghost is 250 grams and priced at $750 and the Vanilla Cream is over 500 grams and priced at $1200. I can make space for each of them in my breeding plans but I am not sure if they are worth the price or if there are better examples of the morph elsewhere. Any suggestions would be great!

I think that the vanilla cream is the same as the disco fire, meaning that the genes are on the same thingy ma bobber...yes, that’s my scientific word... so long story short the only way to reproduce it is to breed it to another vanilla or another fire. Something like that :confusd: If that doesn't bother you then that would be my pick. I love the look of these snakes!

I think that the enchi yb is overpriced and not a super nice example of the morph.

    The fire pin is nice.

The fire pin is by far the nicest i've ever seen. The vanilla cream is very nice too, one of my favorite morphs though, so I'm a bit biased. The enchi YB doesn't make me say WOW but im not very familiar with enchi combos...

Fire pin is awesome. And you get a possible het to try and prove out.

I would get the Enchi YB, and here is why.
The Fire Pin looks amazing, and they are a great combo. I have made Sulfur Pins and love the look. If the Pin does prove out to be het Hypo, that is a cool bonus, but only if you have some Hypo females. The Fire is a $100 morph and so is the Pin. So, unless you have some amazing females to breed him to, you get some very low dollar offspring. The Enchi YB is a nice male to have. If you ever want Super Stripes, that male would be amazing to breed to a Spector female. The Enchi is not a high dollar morph, and neither is the YB, however, people still want nice female Enchi's and YB's in their collection. The Cream is a great snake, my Scream male is the most stunning snake I have ever seen...however, unless you only breed that Cream male to a Super Fire or Super Vanilla, you are going to get morphs that are very hard to tell what is what-Fire and Vanilla and their combos. Trust me, I had that issue this past year.

I would take the fire pin because I have a black pastel hypo for her to get to know. IMO the enchi YB is a tad high, but some people price high and expect to haggle so I'd offer $800 if I wanted her. The vanilla cream is gorgeous but if I bought her I'd have to buy a boyfriend for her also.

I am not a pin fan, but that's who I would go for. She looks nice and clean.

You don't need amazing females to breed the fire pin to... Even a pastel or spider female has the potential to make awesome combos. Have you seen dragonflies? They're sweet. A fire spinner would be kick ass too.

Well none of the morphs there are high dollar morphs, I don't think that's what his goal is. But to say enchi isn't high dollar is a bit shaky imo. I still see nice females going for $500 all day long. That's higher than any of the other morphs involved there.

The fire pin is the best of the group IMO. I don't really like the look of the enchi YB, but then again I am not really a fan of either of those two morphs until their potential is brought out in combos.

If $500 is a High End Morph, are we talking about Corns?
Five Hundred dollars is not considered a high end morph in the Ball Python community. I have new for you, if you spend close to a grand on a male, chances are, you want to make some money with him.

Not everyone is out to make money. Perhaps the OP just wants a nice new addition. In my opinion, that fire pin is a nice new addition and it can make some cool combos. Just because they aren't expensive doesn't mean they aren't cool. It sounds like you're in this hobby to make a quick buck. Most people here do it for the passion behind it...not how much money it can make you.

This is very sound reasoning. In terms of looks I love both the fire pin and the cream but in breeding terms the enchi yellow belly probably has a lot more potential. Fire pins are very beautiful in their own right, sought after and extremely useful if you want to go for dragonflies or nuclear pinstripes (both stunning), so if you are that way inclined then the fire pin gets my vote, particularly as I have a love of hypos, but be aware that single gene pinstripes and fires have become difficult to sell. Enchi combos are very variable in the expression of the different genes and I would not let the slightly dull appearance of the enchi y/b put me off, by selecting the right breeding partners you could produce some stunners from that one and it would be my choice.

Re: thoughts on 3 possible pick ups- fire pin, enchi yb, vanilla cream
I spoke to the breeder but the fire pin has been already picked up, along with the Vanilla cream. The enchi yb isn't as stunning as I'd like her to be so I'm going to pass on her. My breeding plans are flexible, although 2 of my new pickups are being a major pain in the you know where in terms of feeding and I will be asking for advice on them in another thread.

I have been breeding Ball Pythons for almost 17 years. I think that would counter your , "In it for a quick buck" comment. 99% of the people who buy more than a handful of Balls end up breeding them at least once. If you breed them, and you successfully hatch the eggs, chances are, you are not going to keep each and every one of them. That means, you probably are going to sell them. If you sell them, it is way easier to sell a snake that is sought after, and not on every other ad on KS. Just because someone makes good money off of their hobby and has turned it into a side business, does not mean they do not love the snakes. Those of us who breed Balls have just taken the hobby of keeping Balls to the next level, nothing evil about it.
