    Advice needed
I am going to the reptile show in Timonium Md at the end of may. I have a male pastel and am interested in breeding down the line. I was planning on picking up at least 2 snakes. just wanted to know what you all thought i should get? money isnt really a problem. im just interested in some neat looking snakes to breed down the line? thanks guys

I think everyone can agree that you should get what you like ;)

What kind of morphs do you enjoy?
    Light morphs? Dark morphs?

That would be a good starting point :D

looking more towards lights. And yeah im sure i will get what i like. but i figured i would reach out to people who know more than i do to get different perspectives. You all know more about breeding and things like that so im all ears lol

I would get 2 females if I were you (if you are getting younger snakes, which are cheaper), because they take about twice-ish as long to grow to breeding size. You can always add males down the line.

Well, I'm a sucker for bumblebees, lessers, butters and enchi's.

I assume that you want your Pastel to be your male, so I would go for 2 or more females.

If you want, you could get any of those, or a 2 gene morph.
Other recommendations would be fire and mojave.

Those are just my opinions though :)

I agree with 2 females. Depending how much you want to spend, id definitly go Enchi. Either Combo or straight up. And a Bee would be a good second choice as they are about the same price as an Enchi. But id say Kingpin or Pewter also!

    2 females for sure.
Some light morph suggestions that go very well with pastel: lesser/butter, enchi, fire, a pastel combo.

Me and my husband were also THINKING(still saving for Daytona lol) about attending this show as well. Hes been, but I never have. We probably wont be getting much, mostly just looking, as we sold almost all the snakes we wanted to sell so far, and made our significant "collection addition" for the year :P However, I wouldn't mind meeting and hangin out with any forum members afterwards....:D :carouse:

Go to Kingsnake.com and Fauna Classifieds and see what other people are selling - it's a GREAT way to see what your pastel will look like with other mophs. You can also go to worldofballpythons.com and play with their genetic wizard to see what you'll get with varrious crosses.

If I were going for only one other gene, I'd go with the Yellow Belly for one female. They are relatively inexpensive and the super makes a white snake and the pastel-yellow belly and super-pastel-yellow belly makes a nice yellow with normal patterns. Both these genes tend to make all your morphs more yellow and clean.

I do love the bumblebee, but pick your spider carefully. They can have a head wobble or right/left-handedness when they crawl. You don't want to have that in your breeding line. When I purchased my spider, I was told it didn't have a head wobble. It didn't, but when it crawled, it always turned to the left and up. I love the little guy, but I won't breed with him now.
I think it's the Desert female that won't produce viable eggs (someone will correct me if I'm wrong), yet I've seen them for sale for hundreds of dollars to be sold as 'pets'.

Best advice - do your homework before you buy.

    See you at Timmonium!

Look for a two-gene morph if $$$ isn't a problem. I have a spinner female (pinstripe x spider), no wobble or other issues, that I'm going to cross with my pastel male when she's old enough. You should be able to check the spiders at the show for problems since you'll see them personally.

Yellow belly or lesser is also nice for going light.

Could also try a piebald if you're looking for future generations, going for a pastel piebald if you breed a het pied pastel male back to mama.

This is what I've read also. It stinks b/c I really like the desert pattern and would love to play with it.
