I can't decide if I like that or not. I'm leaning towards not. But I really love the vibrants greens.

    I'm not a fan.

    I'm with Doolittle.
The appeal of the GREEN tree python are the amazing greens.

If I wanted a white snake, I would stack with BP BELs.

As much as I think it's gorgeous, I actually agree with the two of you more or less. I really appreciate this animal and think it's beautiful - the yellow eyes on that white background just blows me away! But I don't want to own her. And not just because of that astounding price tag. I think the most beautiful solid white snake is actually the BLACK eyed lucy in the BEL complex (super fire). Something about the black eyes on white is even more appealing. But in Green Tree Pythons, I want a vivid green animal with yellow markings or a turqoise/true blue (the MOST stunning animal ever, lol). :gj:

Here is a picture of my personal favorite GTP, Blue Frost, bred by Greg Maxwell several years ago.....

Can't help but raise an eyebrow at that to be honest. I mean, if it was just about white snakes, I would just buy a $90 Lucy Ratsnake over a $1000 Super Fire BP. Also if people were only breeding monotypic Green Chondros, the hobby would be really boring. :P

Anyway, I personally really like this critter!

I think you misunderstood my post.
Its honestly not just about being leucistic
But like I said, the appeal of the GTP are the stunning greens (yellows, blues). And they aren't all the same.

I find the whites on a BP more impressive looking than the wild type. With that said, I still find the 'normal' greens much more visually impressive and pleasing than the whites on the GTP.

Either way, I personally don't like the white GTP... It's not ugly by any means. But I'd still rather take a green one over the white....If there was a BP as green as a GTP, I would probably favor it more than a BEL as well.....

Well yeah, I'm aware of the colour range currently present in Chondros, they're all stunning and they're a species that can only get better with every colour. I'm sure we'll get solid white Chondros that could be on par with a Lucy BP, just takes some more time and breeding. We really only have a handful of examples at the moment. :u

Some of the Kofiaus (Actually, I think this white one is a Kofiau too) stay yellow.
They don't retain the dark neonate markings though.

Yep they bout said it all. Don't get me wrong its impressive. But not for me. I'm just not a fan of white snakes. That gtp in evenstars post is gorgeous! Someone else posted a pic of one for sale that is stunning as well. If I had a choice I'd want one that stayed red like the neonates. Now that I would keep. Lol.

^^^^ That picture of Blue Frost just makes me dream of the Caribbean sea. I can't stop looking at him which is why I saved his picture. If I can't have him, I need his picture. Better than his $20k price tag.......

I can't even imagine what the price tag would be for that white beauty........ :O

Oh we have many that stay bright yellow! The Kofiaus (Canaries) stay all yellow and the high yellow designers come in a multitude of different percentages of yellows...here are a few examples (put on your sunglasses and enjoy!) If you are interested let me know, we can get you anything you want! :)

Speaking of 'doing what the cool kids are doing,' Doolitte, where is your Facebook already?!

Tikigator, out of curiosity, if you buy a baby from a canary line, is it only a chance it will stay yellow, or do all of them? Also about what do they run as babies and post-color change?

I could go either way; There aren't many snakes that sport that brilliant green/blue color like the GTP or ETB, yet at the same time the fact that it's NOT a full-white snake like a lot of BEL's is impressive. In the picture of its back it was like a silver color!

I think though that (ignoring prices) the only way I would own one is if someone said "here, have this snake". If I went out to to buy one, I too would probably go for the high-turquoise. 'Cause I mean, how many BLUE snakes are there?! :D

I am no expert on them as I do not own any but from what I have seen, and friends of mine that own them, majority if Canary Kofiaus will stay yellow or be very high yellow, the best way is to purchase from a breeder based on the lineage of the parents. Take a look at the parents to see what they look like. An all-yellow sire and damn are more likely to produce the same all yellow offspring. Usually they run about $1500 as hatchlings. Of course, as any chondro, a Kofiau always has the potential to turn green (but the ones I have seen turn "green" are usually a light lime green mixed with yellow, stunning really). That's the fun with chondros, they are a box of chocolates and watching them morphs is part of the magic!
