Is it sad that
I talk to more people on here than I do from back home on facebook and e-mail? I do talk to multiple friends back home via facebook every day but I feel like I am on here more often. Oh well, 5 more weeks and I'll be back with friends and family and this will all be a bad dream...
-
Nope, it's not sad. I like you "guys" a lot better than 90% of the people on my facebook.
-
I do the most "interacting" on here as far as online communication goes :P I share a lot on facebook, but it's because my feed is mostly humor image streams and reptile pages (most of which I was linked to through here ;) ). I'll see something and share it for my non-reptile friends, who comment sometimes, but otherwise it's a way for me to stay in the loop
-
Right on. Speaking of FB, check out BHBs page. It is a mommy snake tucking in a baby snake, and she is saying that if it tucks its shed skin under its pillow then the skin fairy will come and leave it a mouse. Pretty darned cute.
-
Daww! That is cute.
How about this one?

So apparentaly, like many other sites, the United States Cyber Command has deemed that site a "high-risk" website and I can't see the picture. Grrrrr...

Still no dice. DId you use photobucket? Apparently the Army thinks that is a taliban site, as well. LOL

Okay if you don't see this now, then you are not meant to see this pic! I downloaded it and put it on photobucket haha
-
I dont think its that sad. My main hobby is herps/bps. Pretty much everyone on this site shares that interest with me, so it makes sense that id enjoy talking to most of you guys.
-
-
I don't think it's sad. I would much rather read / comment / joke with the people on this site than pretty much everyone on my FB (except those of you all that are on there, duh)
I mean, it's like... I love you guys, ya know? You guys...you guys get me *sniffs* GROUP HUG! :grouphug:
Ok, I'll try and control myself. *hands in pockets*
:P

Not sad at all actually....
You have more in common with the people on this site, therefore it's easier (and you'll be much more willing) to talk to the people on here.

Re: Is it sad that
It's only sad if it makes you sad. If you get satisfaction from your relationships/conversations up here, then that's a good thing, at least in my book. And if this occupies more of your time for now than fb chat with your non-herp friends, for example, so what? If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I'm sure your "real-life" friends and family will resume a bigger role in your life when you're back with them. Hope the next 5 weeks fly by :)

I see it Mike, and that is hilarious!! It almost looks like he's trying to evolve, in which case someone should tell him that reptiles didn't evolve from dinosaurs and that one individual can't evolve! LOL Very cute. I definitely have a lot in common with people here in terms of reptiles/snakes and other things like ink! I can't wait to get home and get some more ink! :D And no, it isn't sad to me, as I stay in excellent touch with folks back home.
-
If you think about it a lot of social networking is sad. Phone calls or face to face I say. Unless that's not possible. (Army...) BUT forum people are usually way cooler than FB people. BP.net FTW!(;
-
I'm embarrassed to admit that I only have two IRL friends. And I barely see them :/
Bp.net keeps me sane..
:/
-
Im on here way more then fb. And I dont really talk to anyone. I dont have similar intrests with my irl friends as I do on here :)
Everyone here understands my weirdness. No one around me does.

I've got plenty of friends back home but even making phone calls from over here can be a pain in the butt. As has been suggested I will definitely be spending a lot of time with friends once I'm back home but I will still get on here at least every other day if not every day to check in, get advice, and share pictures, stories, etc. as well as look at your pictures, stories, etc.

NOT FRICKEN SAD!!
Sheesh.
Honestly, All my school (people I knows) "friend me on facebook, we never talk in real life. Seriously. I just use facebook mainly for a constant flow of Harry potter and reptile pictures from m news feed.:)
-
I use face book alot but not for conversation just mainly keeping family informed on how school and life are going since I'm a hr an a half away now. When ever I'm looking for a good conversation I come to my favorite online community and see what all my bp.net friends are up too. Gotta admire tapatalk has made it super easy to be on here all day

I know right? I never really talk to my school friends out side of school I just get home and play with my snakes 0.o lol. It's more like yay reptile expo=reptile friends or yay race= quad friends. Haha

Re: Is it sad that
I completely agree with all the above. I think it is pretty cool to have a lot of friends on here that share and or understand you interests. Most of the people at the hospital where I work think it is extremely weird to like and raise snakes. For some reason, they do not think a college educated medical professional could possibly be into reptiles.
-
I do love that the love for reptiles knows no race, religion, color, creed, sex, etc. I know that a disproportionate amount of people that keep snakes are not black I have met a few reptiles/snake lovers that are. I wonder what makes us so different from folks that are deathly afraid of or simply hate snakes - anyone have any opinions on that?
-
My Facebook has now just been used for reptile groups both educational and classifieds, and funny pictures. The about six or eight people I talk to in life are family and I just go see them. BP.net is a good community.

I'm a black reptile lover.

I think we are more interesting. We are more educated, more fun, and just generally better people.

Ok, what is the picture of? I feel like without seeing it I am not getting the full effect of the post.

Five more weeks and you'll be free and have full control over what you view. That sucks the army blocks everything for you all tho kinda seems like your the ones who should be aloud to view anything you want but that's why people don't put me in charge haha
-
The blocked sites are more to protect both the information systems (computers) as well as the information that is transmitted on them. I get it, but some of it is unnecessary. Photobucket, for instance, may only be blocked to free up bandwith, but more likely it is blocked because it is a file sharing site. I doubt it is a bandwidth issue because after 2000 hours they allow access to youtube (can't access it during the workday when people will be using bandwidth for work issues. When 82nd ABN owned the battlespace here photobucket was allowed, but now that 3rd ID is the battlespace owner they have blocked it.

Every time my cousin goes over seas he :cens0r::cens0r::cens0r::cens0r::cens0r:es about the computers too now that I talked to him when i got done hunting i asked how it is at his bases, he's Air Force tho been in since 99 an is high up now so he doesn't do much but order people around an fix a plane if its too rough.
-
I'm sure that he does more than that, although that may be all that it seems like he does to someone not familiar with the military. There are a good number more AF or AF related folks on here than I realied! How about the Black Knights kicking that Falcon butt yesterday!

Ha ya my knowledge of the military is limited to what movies and friends/family have told me. He is a mechanic well he started as one not sure if that changes once you start going up in rank. I can't member if he said he's a master Sargent or next step up tho I just member he was super happy when he became the master Sargent (that's E7 right?) he wanted me to start calling him master Sargent when ever we talked lol he enjoys picking on me since he's like 12 years older then me.
