What's your favorite scary movie?!
Im not a real fan of halloween but i love the scary movies they play on tv. It gets me in the mood to watch the dvds without commercial interuptions.
So, whats youre favorite scary/horror/thriller movie or the movie thats scared you the most? I like the more realistic ones myself. I dont think a movie has ever actually scared me, but some have definetly creeped me out a little. I like the Halloween movies (old ones more so but i like the newer remakes), rob zombie movies, and some other randomn ones like The Hitcher, Disturbia and The 'Burbs. I like that movie 28 days later and its sequel. Zombieland also wasnt a scary movie, but its halloweeny and i liked it bc it had zombies in it. I think ive only seen the first 2 or 3 older John Carpenter Halloween movies, but i think theres like 7 of them or something. The 'Burbs isnt really a scary movie but its like a comedic horror-ish movie. Its one of my most favorite movies EVER, not many people have ever seen it though.
Anyone have any favorites? Something that REALLLY creeped you out when you first saw it?

Most of the horror movies I watched were when I was little and I would watch them with my mom :P. The only one that really scared me was the leprechaun.... Scariest face, voice, attitude, and ruthless creepy kills!! That's the only movie that when I saw him appear on the screen, I had to cover my face! Now I have all the movies downloaded on itunes, and I watch them all the time! :D
-
The only movie that has ever scared me was when I was a youngin' and my dad made me watch "IT" with him. I swear I had a phobia of taking a shower for months after that. My mom had to sit in the bathroom with me while I showered...(I was like 8) Clowns still freak me out a little to this day...
Aside from that, nothing really freaks me out movie-wise as an adult. I did freak a bit when I played Silent Hill for the first time (The first one) and also when I played the first resident evil. Damn zombie dogs busting through windows when it's all quite and stuff...*shakes fist*

"I want to kill every-one, Satan is good, Satan is our pal..."
Anyway- The Grudge scared the crap out of me. I still get random phone calls from my brother making that God awful noise. It happens every couple of years and I spend the next two days terrified to go into the basement.

Horror is my favorite genre. So it's hard to pick one favorite. But the more twisted the better. Of course the classics like Friday the 13th and Halloween, and nightmare on Elm St. I also like Pet Sematary. Here is a pic of my little boy then Gage the little boy from Pet Sematary.

Anyone else think the look alike?

Re: What's your favorite scary movie?!
Ahhhh, creepy kids get me everytime! There is something incredibly disturbing about an evil, silent, or inordinately pale child!
And yes, the resemblance between your boy and Gage is one that I'm not sure I could get past :)
(He's adorable, by the way! Just don't let him get ahold of a scalpel!)

Re: What's your favorite scary movie?!
although most horror movies are not all that scary, i got to give it to insidious that movie really had my heart pumping.

Hmm child's play when I was younger always scared the hell outta me but that blame is placed purely on my cousin he had a chucky doll and since he's seven years older then me he would always freak me out with it. Like wait till I fall asleep then have the doll standing on my chest tapping my face to wake me up :( terror to a nine year old. Other then that if there are zombies in it ill watch it I love zombie movies and I feel like if the world ever became a world of the dead I'd excel and be a zombie killing machine! Haha but we all gotta have dreams of what could be :)

Watch it! So screwy haha

Oh! I would like to add, that although not scary in the least (comedy), my favorite halloweenish movie is definitely Rocky Horror Picture Show.
While waiting in line at the Halloween store, time warp started playing on the speakers. The employee, a woman next to me, and myself all started singing outloud when the Columbia part came on. It was hilarious :D
We did a RHPS party back in May at our bar, so much fun!

Re: What's your favorite scary movie?!
The Paranormal Activity movies are a little long, but can be a little scary. I prefer scary movies that make you think. Also, not really that scary, but the movie the 4th kind was a little freaky. Zombie movies are always cool. I love the remake of Dawn of the Dead when they are in the mall and the background music is a cheesy version of Down with the Sickness.

Paranormal activity freaks me out. Ghosts are fricken terrifying :/

Re: What's your favorite scary movie?!
Hands down Halloween...the music, lighting, storyline, characters...best horror flick of all time. Post 1990-ish, good scary movies are just hard to find, the best ones probably being "Scary Movie" 1-4, lol...
-
I don't spook easily by movies but right now Texas Chainsaw Massacre is really scaring me, & that's only because at this haunted house I work at, leatherface or David knows I'm petrified of him so he always comes in my room with the saw & runs it up and down my back

The Puppet Master movies, the Hellraiser movies, IT, Killer Klowns from Outer Space (not really scary, but such a fantastic goofy B movie), Fido (another not-really-scary one, its actually pretty cute in the end), Parents is a good one that I found on Hulu, Trick-r-Treat, High Spirits and Haunted Honeymoon are great classic comedies with a horror theme, Sean of the Dead is just fun, I could go on and on haha.

I was about 15 when Halloween came out and my Dad took me and my older sister to see it at the theater. She was 18. Needless to say I didn't sleep that night. For those youngins thinking, "what a wimp", we weren't as desensitized as the youth seems to be today and there was nothing like it before hand. I agree that it's the ultimate horror movie. First, the premis isn't too far fetched and over the top. There is just enough slash without the total gore, and the music was perfectly suspenseful. Also, I truly believe that movie really catapulted the genre which brought about others like, Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, The Changling, and the original Fright Night.
Thats the other scary movie that I just love but most people seem to have never heard of. "The Changling" with George C. Scott. Just creepy. If you've never seen it, its worth a look.
-
Honestly, the scariest movie for me was gremlins which I saw when I was 5 or so. Scared me up until I was like 12.
Now though, Devils Rejects and similar movies are what unnerves me, all of those realistic suspenseful films.
-
I watched Bram Stoker's Dracula in the dark with a few candles lit last night with a lady friend as my only Halloween-related festivity.
If you haven't seen it, it's VERY creepy and absolutely worth watching for free online.
Plus it has Keanu Reaves, Winona Ryder, and Gary Oldman as Dracula. The way they cut the scenes, mess with the lighting, and put eyes and shadows everywhere is super scary!

I gotta agree with you man. I was like... 13 maybe.... when we first watched halloween 1 and 2 on Halloween nite and i was definetly freaked out. Its all about the music. To this day thats still the best music ive ever heard in a scary movie as far as getting my heart beating fast. Its so simple too, thats the crazy thing. If im walking anywhere and i were to hear that music my pace would probably double. Lol

Let's see... when I was 5 my mom made me watch Jaws with her. I thought Jaws was the character from the cartoon show James Bond Jr. Needless to say, when the shark first appeared, I jumped out of her lap, yelled my first swear phrase (Holy sugar... replace the second word with another s-word lol), and became paranoid of going into lakes and larger bodies of water lol.
Growing up, she also made me watch timeless classics such as Halloween, Hellraiser, Friday the 13th, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, A Nightmare on Elm Street, and countless other horror films (including probably all of the sequels). After seeing all of them at a young age, I became completely desensitized to any new horror films that have been released and typically laugh at them while my girlfriend and friends close their eyes. :)
My favorite movie out of those: Jaws

Re: What's your favorite scary movie?!
Bring on the crazy psychos. Bring on the possessed school girls. Bring on creepy dolls that watch you in your sleep. Or even those stalker ghosts that pull your blankets off of you.
Those don't scare me.
BUT, bring on zombies and I'm a scared kitten. I can not watch Dawn of the Dead by myself or I'll be hiding in the closet with a shotgun til my hubby gets home. Zombie Apocalypse Doomsday Prepper here!

I don't think that I've ever really been scared by a movie. Jump scares get me, but that's about it. What happens is that I get a little bit of bloodlust going during action/horror movies, and I'm sure that makes me a lot of fun to deal with. I shout, I read the coolest lines along with the cast, and I sometimes mime scenes from the movie while on the couch.
It's a very difficult choice, but I think that the Thing by Carpenter is my favorite scary movie. It's between that and Alien/s.
Slithers was great, just because it was so stupid in places, and I love works that don't take themselves too seriously.
The entire Hellsing Ultimate anime is just plain fun for me, and End of Evangelion is pretty freaky, so I'm counting it among my favorites.
I enjoy quite a few horror books as well. I'm systematically reading everything of Lovecraft's that I can find, and I love how the horror and themes are less blatant and more psychological and intellectual.
...Alright, I finally thought of a movie scene that scared me. In the first Harry Potter movie, I crap you not, the scene with Voldemort in the woods has always freaked me out. Go figure.

Re: What's your favorite scary movie?!
Ohhhh goodness, horror is my genre. I grew up watching it and I've always loved it. So many... let's see... The ones that honestly creeped me out the most were the Pet Semetary movies and I think zombies are probably my absolute worst fear, I am terrified of that idea, so I LOVE all zombie movies unless they just suck. My favorites: I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE all the Texas Chainsaw Massacre movies, the originals and the remake. Love the old stuff like Psycho, The Birds, the Shining. Cabin in the Woods was more funny but SOOOOOOO good!!!!!!!
Just a bunch I like: (put down here to keep my rant to a minimum)
I'm a huge fan of grindhouse style/ B horror. All the Evil Dead movies were awesome!!!!!!!!! The Halloween movies were awesome, Nightmare on Elm Street, Child's Play, IT.....really most of the Stephen King movies were dope, Hellraiser, Silent Hill (the newest one had creepy stuff but was kinna 'tarded,) the Resident Evil movies, Puppet Master, Rest Stop, the Hills Have Eyes, Quarantine. Cloverfield was purdy dope. Insidious was GOOD- one of the first new ones I was really impressed with a bit creeped out by. I really liked House of 1000 Corpses and the first Rob Zombie Halloween, I liked The Devil's Rejects but a little less. An American Werewolf in Paris was another I liked a lot. Mmmmmmm the remake of The Amityville Horror with Ryan Reynolds was quite enjoyable mmmmmmm. Anyone seen The People Under the Stairs? Veddy good. There's soooooo many more so I'm just gonna stop here lol.

I love scary movies; Friday the 13th, Halloween, Psycho, Nightmare on Elm Street, etc. and I even enjoyed the remakes of each of those. The one I think they did the best remake of has got to be the Texas Chainsaw Massacre w/ R. Lee Ermey in it. The Devils Rejects was pretty cool though not really scary. I love Zombie movies. The one that freaked my wife out was The Strangers with Liv Tyler in it. One of my favorite scary movies in the "B" movie category is called Midnight Movie (Midnight Movie). It's really hard to pick out one. Heck I even enjoyed Freddie v Jason. I spent last night watching the Rob Zombie version of Halloween.
Oh, I almost forgot about Scream and Paranormal Activity...I like those ones too...
So many to choose just one!!:rolleye2:

Check out the story and previews to the movie called V/H/S. There's a couple of them at that link so let the videos keep playing.

Re: What's your favorite scary movie?!
Paranormal Activity is my favorite. I can't wait to see Paranormal Activity 4.
-
I thought 28 days later, 30 days of night, The hills have eyes and Silent hill were all pretty deadly movies...Plus the Orcs on Lord of the rings were awesome!!
-
Re: What's your favorite scary movie?!
for me....The Exorcist, original 1973.
Saw that when I was 10, messed up for life.

I loved the battle between the Uruk-hai and Boromir!

Re: What's your favorite scary movie?!
I'm old school, so it's a toss up between The Excorcist or Psycho for number one, and honorable mention to Jaws.
-
Finding nemo was a scary movie. I was scared, poor little fish :tears:
Jk I think my favorite scary movie would be the Halloween movies. Anyone watch American hottie story: asylum ? That's a creep show.
