Re: What's your favorite scary movie?!

Hands down Halloween...the music, lighting, storyline, characters...best horror flick of all time. Post 1990-ish, good scary movies are just hard to find, the best ones probably being "Scary Movie" 1-4, lol...

I don't spook easily by movies but right now Texas Chainsaw Massacre is really scaring me, & that's only because at this haunted house I work at, leatherface or David knows I'm petrified of him so he always comes in my room with the saw & runs it up and down my back

The Puppet Master movies, the Hellraiser movies, IT, Killer Klowns from Outer Space (not really scary, but such a fantastic goofy B movie), Fido (another not-really-scary one, its actually pretty cute in the end), Parents is a good one that I found on Hulu, Trick-r-Treat, High Spirits and Haunted Honeymoon are great classic comedies with a horror theme, Sean of the Dead is just fun, I could go on and on haha.

I was about 15 when Halloween came out and my Dad took me and my older sister to see it at the theater. She was 18. Needless to say I didn't sleep that night. For those youngins thinking, "what a wimp", we weren't as desensitized as the youth seems to be today and there was nothing like it before hand. I agree that it's the ultimate horror movie. First, the premis isn't too far fetched and over the top. There is just enough slash without the total gore, and the music was perfectly suspenseful. Also, I truly believe that movie really catapulted the genre which brought about others like, Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, The Changling, and the original Fright Night.

Thats the other scary movie that I just love but most people seem to have never heard of. "The Changling" with George C. Scott. Just creepy. If you've never seen it, its worth a look.

Honestly, the scariest movie for me was gremlins which I saw when I was 5 or so. Scared me up until I was like 12.

Now though, Devils Rejects and similar movies are what unnerves me, all of those realistic suspenseful films.

I watched Bram Stoker's Dracula in the dark with a few candles lit last night with a lady friend as my only Halloween-related festivity.

If you haven't seen it, it's VERY creepy and absolutely worth watching for free online.

Plus it has Keanu Reaves, Winona Ryder, and Gary Oldman as Dracula. The way they cut the scenes, mess with the lighting, and put eyes and shadows everywhere is super scary!

I gotta agree with you man. I was like... 13 maybe.... when we first watched halloween 1 and 2 on Halloween nite and i was definetly freaked out. Its all about the music. To this day thats still the best music ive ever heard in a scary movie as far as getting my heart beating fast. Its so simple too, thats the crazy thing. If im walking anywhere and i were to hear that music my pace would probably double. Lol

Let's see... when I was 5 my mom made me watch Jaws with her. I thought Jaws was the character from the cartoon show James Bond Jr. Needless to say, when the shark first appeared, I jumped out of her lap, yelled my first swear phrase (Holy sugar... replace the second word with another s-word lol), and became paranoid of going into lakes and larger bodies of water lol.

Growing up, she also made me watch timeless classics such as Halloween, Hellraiser, Friday the 13th, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, A Nightmare on Elm Street, and countless other horror films (including probably all of the sequels). After seeing all of them at a young age, I became completely desensitized to any new horror films that have been released and typically laugh at them while my girlfriend and friends close their eyes.

My favorite movie out of those: Jaws

Bring on the crazy psychos. Bring on the possessed school girls. Bring on creepy dolls that watch you in your sleep. Or even those stalker ghosts that pull your blankets off of you.
    Those don't scare me.

BUT, bring on zombies and I'm a scared kitten. I can not watch Dawn of the Dead by myself or I'll be hiding in the closet with a shotgun til my hubby gets home. Zombie Apocalypse Doomsday Prepper here!
