What goes THROUGH your mind AFTER BEING BIT BY YOUR BP?
Because Ummmm I'll be getting one soon and I've seen some bite the owners. lol I mean does it hurt? Do you freak out or panic? What do you do? How do you get it to release? Any horror stories?

Again really? Is my reaction there has been 3 times where I have handled my pin female and did not get bit lol. She's tiny around 350 grams so i don't really care. It doesn't hurt it's just shocking.

I usually hope they didn't break any teeth and can still eat without a problem. Lol but normally I just stop to think if I sanitized my hands before I got tagged or do I still smell like rat before going to the next tub.

My bitey girl is a little less than 100g, so when I am bitten my thoughts are something like this:

She bit me... the little slug bit me!

Then I have a bit of internal laughter after almost losing my hand to the little beast.

The strike is fast and sometimes startling hat is the worst part even my big girl has tagged me once (3800gm) not much more than a scratch. I usually think of what I did wrong. Where is the zip lock bag that had rats in it usually.

I'm normally irritated that now I have to stop and wash up. Getting bit just slows me down..expecially when they hang on.

Not from a ball python... They have tiny teeth.

What are you afraid of? Most of the members on this forum think ball python bites are comical because they are so minor, mostly just annoying. None painful and the bleeding stops within minutes.

I think a paper cut or a scratch from my cat would hurt much worse. If you can handle a paper cut you can handle a good chewing from a BP.

I usually yell at them and ask "seriously", and then I move on. It makes me mad at myself because it is generally from me doing something stupid or careless.

I've only been tagged a few times, but after the fact, I always marvel at how FAST they are...by the time I realized I'd been bit, the snake is right back where it was before it struck at me...except when they think I'm dinner...:colbert:.

I haven't been bit in a while but when I have get bit my reaction depends on who did the biting. My first bite was horrible. I was bit my by then sub adult female on the palm of my hand. She hit me so hard that I could see where all of her teeth entered my hand. My main thought then was okay, put her away, clean the bite and then hold her tomorrow. I wasn't going to let her win and my mistake was not giving her the respect she deserves. The one time she bit me and constricted I laughed at her. I ended up running her under water to get to let go.

If one of my hatchlings tries to bit me I just laugh, they're so cute when they think they are though. If my male enchi bites me I yell saying so not so very nice things about him. He's gotten much better, but he was a little demon for a while. Nothing has been as bad as the first though, and honestly I'd rather be bit my all of my snakes in the same day than scratched by my cat. Snake bites heal faster and don't hurt as much. :P

My first bite after I washed it and put neosporin on it:

"Aww, really?" Or "Well, that was dumb. I guess I shouldn't stick my hand in there when you're sitting on the mouse you dropped in your water bowl. I guess I knew that, I was just too lazy to get the tongs."

Usually, anyway. With Mr. Nibbles it was more: "Don't hit the snake. You weigh 100x more than he does, you could really hurt him if you get angry. Just because he's a jerk. Just walk away. He's just a little jerk. I know, let's zap him with the water bottle we use on the dogs when they bark. Little jerk."

But Mr. Nibbles was... special. And he grew out of it after a year.

... where did that blood come from?

I'm pretty sure my spider bit me, but the bite marks were so tiny and I barely felt it.

99% of ball python bites really do hurt less than a paper cut or cat scratch. Way less, because they don't tend to get infected.

The 1% exceptions are the true latch-and-wrap bites. Those generally only happen when an animal is HUNGRY, and THEN you made a major feeding error. Both of which are almost certainly your fault... but if that happens, stick a pencil or pen between their jaws: they'll let go almost immediately.

I mostly just laugh if off, I find it really cute.. My worst BP bite was from a 2000+ gram girl and it didn't hurt at all. Surprised me more than anything.

My worst snake bite was from my 6ft Bredli Carpet Python. It was a feeding bite. It bled. Bruised for about a week. But really isn't all that bad.

I've never been bit, but a few years ago my pretty young BP bit my then-7 year old sister when she was holding it. Latched on, wrapped, wouldn't let go. Had to do the water trick to finally get it to release. She had a nice little bruise and some pin-prick marks, but other than that not a big deal.

I have a sneaking suspicion she forgot to wash her hands.... we had a pet rabbit at the time.

Tap yourself on the hand with your finger really quick. Thats about how it feels. I normally laugh, and am impressed how fast they are.
