Is newspaper something good to use in adult tubs?? I use the red orchid substrate right now but it gets pricey filling 6, soon to be 11 really big tubs every month or so....any input is appreciated!!

I use unprinted newspaper in all my tubs from babies to adults no problems at all. I like unprinted because it looks better than regular newspaper.

Cool, it's getting close to cleaning day and my wife gets STACKS of newspaper for free from her work. I am so stocking up on this lol. How this should I lay the newspaper down?

It depends, I have 18x24 sheets so for smaller tubs i fold them to fit, for cb 70 I just lay 2 or 3 sheets down and it covers the whole tub.

So like 6 actual pieces thick??? Like if you fold it in half it counts as 2 pieces so 3 pages = 6 pieces if paper thick.

I used news paper for a couple of years. This year, I switched to Kraft bogus paper, which can be cut to the perfect size without folding. Newspaper is fine, it just takes too long to fold all of those sheets.

I use unprinted News paper on all the babies or other animals I plan to sell and demo animals. Then we use printed in our breeders. The print isn't toxic but it can rub off and color a belly a little and that doesn't look good to potential buyers or when doing an educational program.

I switched them today after cleaning the tubs, should I leave them all alone a few days, seems kind of like they might react to it as a little bit of a new home. Any ideas on this??

Hypno- for the cb70 it is 2-3 sheets total just lag them in there they go up the side a little but that's it. The small tubs are my RBI sweater box rack with a divider I fold one sheet in half then fold the top down a little so on the waterfowl side it's like 4 sheets thick and on warm side it's 2 sheets thick but all made out of just 1 sheet .
I love paper because its so much cheaper since every Friday I clean every cage, even if I just cleaned it Thursday it still gets cleaned. I ordered a bundle in paper in jan I have 1/2 half the bundle left and I use it in 6 tubs, and my beardies cage for under her tiles. And I personally think it looks nicer than other substrates.
