Probably b/c not all of the breeders are based in the US, and we are the only people who have not advanced to the metric system

even foreign breeders use grams and not kg.

lol yeah I have to agree with geeko. Metric is more of a international system. Were pretty good at using both up here.

Because grams are more precise without getting into fractions (1 ounce = 28.349 grams)

    Plus grams are internationally recognized.

Personally I hope the US ditches the imperial system and switches to metric.

Down to the gram is more accurate, I think. Kind of like to the penny.

    Because decimals suck.

imagine putting the weight of a 90g baby in pounds or ounces.....

    90 grams = 0.198 lbs or 3.174 ounces

    pffff

A kilogram is just 1,000 grams. I honestly don't know why people don't use the unit for snakes over 999 grams.

My line of work has made me memorize all of the fraction to decimal equivalents from 1" - 1/128". I can say one thing is for sure. If I'm ever in charge we're switching to metric...

When you get into blood python sub adults and larger it changes to Pounds. I'm sure other large thick snakes also get measured in pounds.

The 38 Lb Female I sold would have been 17236 grams. Granted since I don't have a gram scale that goes that high and I had to use the bathroom scale with me holding her any conversion to grams would have been a rough estimate that could have been off by 500 grams or so.

    This!

This is also why we still use the old system for height and weight (mostly). It also sounds more impressive. It's easier and more impressive sounding to say I was 210 lbs than 95.254 kg. The same is true for saying I am 6' ft tall than 1.83 meters.
