I keep my balls in tubs but if you want to make the tank more cluttered just crumple up newspaper and put it in there. Its not pretty but it will do the trick to make your ball feel more secure :gj:

This is an old setup which worked alright, but I have since switched my snake to tubs and have no regrets.

I have at least temporally, I just don't have enough space to store the huge rolls that it comes in. I'll be moving to a much bigger place sometime between December and August so I'll probably switch back at that point (unless I find something I like better) I'm currently just using unbleached butchers paper and when this roll runs out I'm going to try some cage liners from http://www.cageliners.net

Here's my 2 terrariums. I keep lots of plants and hides to minimize open floor space. This along with lots of shadows keep my snakes happy and stress free.

My guy is in a 110 qt tub. He has tons of space considering he is so small, and he likes to try and be a little acrobat. Here:

    http://i1162.photobucket.com/albums/...ps960582a1.jpg

    http://i1162.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4f2cb446.jpg
    http://i1162.photobucket.com/albums/...ps121ebeea.jpg

I am thinking of switching out of the cypress because I want to feed him in enclosure, but I don't want to have an issue with him accidentally ingesting the substrate.

I have pictures of the entire set up from when I first got the tub to when I finished with it too if you would like to see those :)

Tubs in a rack are by far the best way to go. If I would have known I could keep her in a plastic freaking tub I would have saved a lot of money when I got her lol

Yeah I feel the same way, before I got this guy I did google searches on the subject and it seems to be somewhat controversial but people use them. Other people don't like them because they say there isn't enough space for them. I am not sure what other peoples opinions are on this but I think that with frequent handling they can still be comfortable.

Tubs are space savers, but not necessarily the best enclosures. I found that tanks worked better for me, until I started building my own cages. :D
Here are some pics of my old tank setups:

    QT tank, 20gal:

    20gal long:

Now, I use the cages I built myself which work even better!:
    http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps037b11f4.jpg

I'm in the process of building version 2 of these cages, which will also have more decor to take up empty space in the ball python's cage. The corn (on the bottom) likes her room to move around. :)

On your 10 gallon set up, what is that "thing" in foil on the left side of the tank? is that an RHP? just getting ideas on how to get my temps up on my new tank

Probably just a ventilation hole cut in the tinfoil

The foil is actually foil tape, holding on the blue insulation board I place over my background, back and both sides, on all tanks to keep heat and humidity stable. That's why I said the 10gal was showing the tank insulation as well as the screen treatment. You can also see the same stuff taped to the sides of the two 20's. The foam board itself is visible under the 10g tank.
It works wonderfully, and even living in Denver, CO I never had my temps fluctuate more than 2 degrees.

So how do yall get yalls plants to stay in one spot? or are the just laid up against tank?

For the pet grade plants I drill a small hole and push the wire through and they hang. I haven't figured out how to make anything stationary on the cage floor. I don't think I would want to. When I had glass tank I used the suction cup provided with the plants but the snake would eventually tear them down. Since I was given this snake as an adult I have no clue how small animals affect the decor, but the big ones rearrange their stuff pretty easily.

They will work. They just have alot of vertical room. By putting a good bit of moss in them it will make it feel smaller, like it has a lower ceiling.

When it comes to fake plants you can always try the hobby stores (Michaels, HobbyLobby, etc.) You can get fake plants cheap. Also check out the suction cups to hang some.

Make sure to get plants that will be easily cleaned and rinsed off.

I saw your Wal-Mart bag. Most that have a hobby section will have some fake plants too.

That looks great! You probably want to cut a bigger entry hole in your hides. I use flower pots too, but mine are clay. My snakes love them. They create a nice hot spot too. You just have to break a "door" into it.

I like those lol you using moss to?

    I disagree SnakeGuy.

The door only needs to be large enough for the snake to enter and exit. With an entrance as large as yours in the second pic you take away the security of the hide.

Shelby, when you are at the hobby store many plants are big and thick. Just remember you can get more bang for your buck by getting them and cutting them up to use it all over your tank.

Re: Will yall show me yall's tabk setup's?
Agreed my hide doors are kinda big, but I use red lamps so it's very dark in there and my snakes love 'em. Yes I use sphagnum moss because as you'll find out; it's a little difficult keeping up humidity with screen top aquariums. I spray my whole cage down once or twice daily and keep the moss wet. This helps me keep humidity 50-60%. If you plan on getting some sphagnum moss I would check out http://www.reptilebasics.com/sphagnum-500g or find it at a reptile trade show.

Haha ok. Yea I have a 55 gal tank so far my new guy loves it lol N yea I spray it like once a day and it def helps with humidity

Actually, it's not that hard to keep good, stable humidity with a screen top. You just have to use the foil treatment on it first. That's what you see on the tops of all my tanks. Here's the sticky on it:

    http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...foil+treatment

Using that will keep the humidity, and the heat, inside the tank where it belongs. Also, making sure to cover the back and both sides of the tank with insulation - house foam board, cork board, etc. - will keep temps stable as well as give the snakes more security. :)
