Re: Hog Island boa cross?
Personally, I like Hog Isles to be as pure as possible. When you start crossing them, you lose the features that make them Hoggies, i.e.: smaller size, salmon coloration, and speckles. Most distinguished keepers prefer to keep the localities pure.

There are no boa constrictors in Columbia, South Carolina. Or Columbia, Missouri or ANY Columbia for that matter.
Re: Hog Island boa cross?
I am a relatively new snake enthusiast. I have two ball pythons, one very young, the other a little older and larger.
I rescued today a Hogg Island/Nic crossbreed. The previous owner gave him to me because she was concerned that he MAY have an RI. I am currently looking for a vet, but wanted to get more info on both the cross breed tempermant and how to handle the RI....
I realize that ANY snake can strike, just like any dog can bite! We do dog rescue as well, so I am very animal friendly. I have handled him a few times today and he really seems just fine!
