What's My Snakes Deal Guys and Gals????
Hello again! Krispy Nuggets with another question! SO,
Shiva(my snake) developed a new habit the past few days. She's about to shed again(very dull stage now), but this is new behavior. She's been wrapping around her water dish, and yes it's the cool side(also a small one on the hot side but she leaves it alone). Well it's more like a massive soak dish. But man oh man she wraps that sucker sometimes. shes now just over 3ft and plump as can be. Ambient temp is about 80 and the humidity is hanging about 73-78%. (BTW THE FOIL LID DIY DID THE HUMIDITY TRICK FOR MY MASSIVE AQUARIUM TY!!!!) Also, Shiva eats very well. Just switched her to small frozen rats and she eats like a CHAMP every sunday.... Anywho, she's been going nuts lately lol. My neighbor, who has a few BP's told me to find her a bf... Hmm says I... Any advice guys? possible thread or sticky i missed about this?

BP thing. Mine do it also.
LOL thats funny! I sure do hope so! Would kind of make sence though... Shes in an awkward size where her big ol butt is too big for one size hide and too small to be snug in the other... GROOOOOOOOW i say then lol. Maybe I should strap the soak down lol :P :snake:

What I want to know is if starting to pair when you see this behavior is 'too late' 'too early' or 'just the right time'?
Also one of my questions as well, not for this year, maybe next year. Being as that I am a fairly new BP owner with 0 breeding experience I feel that it would be down right irresponsible if I attempted to do so. I do plan on picking my lady up a nice bf for next year, but much learning and preparing must be made/done. My ol lady wanted to breed her this year, until i MADE her read the 2SIDES sticky. Now she also agrees to wait.
Hence my previous questions into the female breeding behavior, time scale, and how long it usually lasts(the little snots been hiding since last friday). This information i think would make an awsome sticky for us fairly new to this. But at the same time it could lead to an epidemic of poor breeding(there's always a few out there).
Its so funny watching her little head pop out from underneath the soak lol. Makes me a frustrating mess to clean up, but still funny.

If you have her out sometime stretch her out and run your fingers down her body on her stomach. You have to press a bit. Look up palapatation, you'll be able to feel what feels like a string of pearls. That way you can confirm for yourself she's building. But that's pretty classic behavior. The girls usually eat ravenously during this time.
Ps Good for you about waiting to do more research! I wish more people would do that.

Dude... You are my hero... I had her out last nigh and actually felt this I think. A few inches up from thevent area. My gf felt it and freaked out... i thought it was just a BIG poopy in progress... She currently eats 1 FTrat every sunday. I will keep all as it is then... Should i keep the temps the same as well?
I Have become a firm believer of doing research first... My friends jumped and bought snakes because i did. They all died due to lack of care and WAY WRONG husbandry... One of them even killed a RTB(sheesh). But i deffinatly DO NOT want to try to breed and have a bum clutch or harm my snake in the process. I'm too attached. So, I wait until I'm properly educated and more importantly, since i want them all for myself(hehe) to be properly set up and equipped to take care of all of them and have a nice food breeder set up as well, being as that frozen are pricy...
Proper education should be a must.
